This house fire may be linked to criminal activities at the weekend, where the policemen were killed.

Just before the crash on Saturday somebody's house had been rammed with a vehicle doing extensive damage to the house? They set out in their car trying to find them and retaliate.

It said it's happened to other houses as well?

Is this all linked to drugs?

It's horrible. Where's it going to end? Why would you want to be mixed up in all that?

Because in their minds the police caused the crash. Their way of thinking is incomprehensible to most people.

Then 'the boys" should have stopped their vehicle instead of trying to escape.

Problem is there is no way of fixing that type of stupid.

The only way of fixing it appears to be the police driving snowploughs every few cars down the motorway. Messy, but would ultimately be quite effective.

It wasn’t the father of the boy killed,it was his stepfather,think it was just the mother’s boyfriend.Nothing to do with his birth Father!

If they’d stopped when police indicated dept them to do so there wouldn’t have been a chase.

Nothing that happened that night is because the police were involved.

Everything they did is why police were involved.

And they called off the chase when they went into the ring side of the road.

and 2 police officers lost their lives because of it.

The only people who did anything wrong at all in any of this was those 5 men.

Of course it isn't becuase of the police actions but that's how the families are seeing it.

Wow. From the BBC report and the police statement I'd say they're pretty sure the fire is linked.

Such a shame it took the deaths of two police officers before they started arresting people for what is clearly a big problem for the area.

If by people you mean the villains families I don't have sympathy. Probably made other people's lives hell.

Very limited compassion to the criminal classes who feel it is ok speed the wrong way down a dial carriageway or that it's a defence to say they were being chased by police. They make life more dangerous and more miserable and more costly for everyone

Some areas of the north east have been in decline for many many years. Loss of industry, employment opportunities, cuts to children’s and public services. People start getting involved in crime at a young age as it’s more appealing than a shitty job or unemployment.

Same here. I still keep half an eye on the place. There's some grand-scale local government corruption going on. Someone's been caught running a flipping scam on land marked for industrial developments, but there's so much more. Billions have probably been spirited out of the local government purse over the past several years, and it's not as if Cleveland has funds to spare.

Like all our previously industrial centres, long-term unemployment's now generational and concern about NEETS is definitely not unfounded.

Agree. BBC did a short report on this and it seemed like OCG- ramming houses appears to be an intimidation tactic and has happened multiple times in the last few years in parts of Middlesbrough

I always comment on this, their little bit of weed as well. No one replies. No one even acknowledges it apart from to try to claim that criminalisation causes drug crime and that their weed is from a little old man who grows his own. It always is of course.

It dosent pay in the long run though.
