Upset DIL has gone home?

ItSmellsFishy · Today 01:00

I’ve had a fractured relationship with my DIL for about 5 years. We’ve booked a caravan holiday together and seem to be getting on fine.
last night she started sneezing and said she thought hayfever, by tonight she says she feels terrible, is aching from head to toe, pounding head etc. she says she might go home as it’s only an hour away and leave DS and DGC with us.

really? Why can’t she just stay in the caravan bed? She says she just wants night nurse and her home comforts.

what’s your opinion?

Everyone wants to be in their own bed in their own home when they feel like that. That is all.

If she's reacting to something moving away from the allergy seems the most sensible plan? You think she should remain there suffering?
It sounds like your perception may be coloured by the relationship dynamic in general.

goodnightssleepbenice · Today 01:04

What’s the point in her being there to lie in bed ?

CamillaMcCauley · Today 01:04

She’s sick and you’re mad that she’s taking her illness elsewhere so you can enjoy the holiday?

Yupstillhere · Today 01:05

What would be the point in being there if she feels terrible. She can rest properly at home, it'll be quiet. She could always come back if she feels better. You're being very harsh.

WarthogWoman · Today 01:05

You seem very self centred

DerangedBillionaire · Today 01:08

Hmm... house to myself to suffer in peace with netflix, hot bath and my own bed, or feeling like shit in a caravan bed with extended family buzzing round?

Let me think...

Onautopilot · Today 01:08

Her own home, without DC, is the best place for her. Why be miserable cooped up with 2 adults and x number DC in a caravan?
Sensible woman!

How terrible for her. Hayfever is very uncomfortable.
Yes, she should remove herself from the environment.

Thankfully some new treatments are available. Encourage her to ask her GP to find her a better treatment routine to try.

I hope your relationship continues to improve.

ItSmellsFishy · Today 01:10

Don’t you think she maybe just has a common cold but is milking it so that she can go home? She went downhill pretty quick on our first day from saying she just thought she had hayfever to saying she felt terrible and was aching all over…

If you want to have a good relationship, may I suggest listening to her, nodding sympathetically, and wishing her a quick recovery. At home.

maudelovesharold · Today 01:10

My opinion is that if I were feeling rough, the last place I’d want to be is staying in a caravan with my mother-in-law (no offence - I got on with mine just fine!), but of course you’d rather have the comfort of your own home if you’re feeling ill, and if it’s do-able, why not? Your ds and you can still enjoy the holiday with the dc, while your dil recovers.

Your posts on your own thread are making me #TeamDIL. Do you hear yourself?

Agree.

Gettinglater · Today 01:14

Also agree.
You’re not coming across well here OP.

Disturbia81 · Today 01:14

Let her be in comfort at home and you have fun with your son and gc.

Onautopilot · Today 01:14

Hmmm...you really don't like her much, do you? Is she the child wrangler or does your DS pull his parental weight?
Also Influenza A is raging here; hayfever like symptoms until the shivers, pounding headaches and chest congestion start about 24 hours later...

Say she is putting it on, why do you want to be on holiday with someone who doesn't want to be there?

ItSmellsFishy · Today 01:16

@Onautopilot Raging in August? Really? She was ok to go to a packed concert and out drinking on Saturday night!

OP posts:
WarthogWoman · Today 01:17

Maybe she is. But I wouldn’t blame her given how horrible you seem to be

Home in peace or sick in a caravan with a cunt who hates me?

Hmmmm. That's a difficult one.

TheHouseElf · Today 01:22

You want her to stay with you there, even though she is ill - but you don't have a good or kind word to say about her. Poor DIL. Little wonder you have a 'fractured' relationship.

But it's now Monday night, 2 days later? She might have picked something up there!

She probably picked up something at the concert or in the pub. Both crowded venues, full of germs! I’d be encouraging her home and hoping I didn’t get it, if I were you!

She could have picked up a bug then?
