To think it’s only the older generations that have strong feelings about Harry and Meghan?

Does anyone younger actually care at all? I just don’t understand the strength of feeling at all. I don’t know them, who knows what is true and what isn’t. It’s just family drama that so many families unfortunately have. I just don’t quite understand how some people are so passionately angry about it all? It’s just celebrity gossip essentially, who cares.

As an old boomer 🙋 I'd just like to register that I really don't give a monkey's about them, and I'd like us to be a republic anyway 😀

Same.

MrsBennetsPoorNervesAreBack · 24/08/2026 14:47

I'm over 50, and frankly, I don't really give a shit about H & M. Or the royals in general to be honest.

I do get quite annoyed by sweeping generalisations on the basis of age though.

Lilyargin · 24/08/2026 14:51

Sweeping generalisation. I don’t give a fuck about them, turn the tv or radio off if they get mentioned. I don’t open any threads on them - except this one as it’s such a generalisation. 50s fwiw.

feellikeanalien · 24/08/2026 15:13

I'm in your older age group and I don't think I've ever had a conversation about them with anyone in real life.

I do find them quite entertaining although I'm getting fed up with the number of articles about them in the Times. It's quite easy not to have any idea about what they're supposedly up to if you don't read the tabloids. Unfortunately even the more heavyweight papers seem to be covering them now.

To me they just seem like another couple of fairly self-absorbed celebrities who think they're important.

HRTQueen · 24/08/2026 15:15

Not sure about age

but all racist people do and no doubt much of the anger is about a black woman not knowing her place

Nincompoo · 24/08/2026 15:16

I don’t know anyone who gives even the tiniest of shits about them, old or young but then my friendship group generally have a bit more about them than sleb twaddle types.

Somnambule · 24/08/2026 15:18

I don't know anyone, young or old, who gives a shit about it tbh.

MaeshoweDragon · 24/08/2026 15:29

62 and don't care much. The TV is full of "news" about them, other royals, celebrities etc. "Specials" about their big move, kids schools etc.

just don't let it cost us normal folks too much, and don't live somewhere that will affect my daily life. I'm in the cotswoldish area... (so, tough I guess).

What a delightfully hyperbolic bingo card you have posted! Well done you being anti-discussion and anti-free speech…

You've got to admit the RF Board is populated by over-invested, swivel-eyed loons Grin

PinkKimonos · 24/08/2026 15:54

Only lunatics have any feelings whatsoever about any of the RF, other than ‘Abolish ASAP.’

WhyReindeer · 24/08/2026 15:57

I think sometimes people have strong feelings because they are projecting their own issues. Say people who in their family have a son or brother that has become estranged because they married a woman who has caused problems or isolated him from his family. They will look at Harry and Meghan and see their own family. They are more likely to side with William and Charles because they are angry at their own son or brother and are projecting that anger onto Harry.

Probably haven't explained that very well but I'm saying that very strong feelings about strangers usually have more going on than just feelings about strangers.

KittyTinker · 24/08/2026 15:58

Outside of family I don’t think I’ve ever talked about them except a joke once at work about a cinema visit when someone joked about us all turning up in ball gowns which gave everyone a laugh. At home 3 generations ranging from teenage to 80s, no one a huge fan of any royals but the word grifters and chancers and bullies is generally used. The taxpayer generation probably have the most to say. But when you talk about the older generation people of 50 are only 5 years older than Meghan.

topcat2014 · 24/08/2026 16:00

I'm 55. I knew he would come back, I just assumed divorced/ alcoholic.

I wouldn't wish royalty on anyone.

Glad Charles gets to see his DGC.

Edinvillian · 24/08/2026 16:02

49 and couldn’t care one way or the other. My boss is in his 60’s and he hates Megan with a passion. Misogynistic bastard.

FrostyPalms · 24/08/2026 16:04

I'm in my mid 50s. I didn't know I was part of the "older generations"!

For what it's worth, I couldn't care less about them.

Lifelover16 · 24/08/2026 16:04

Over 60. Couldn’t give a flying fig about any of them.

Greenjersey · 24/08/2026 16:04

Im over 50 and I think the only comment I've ever made about Harry was that I wish he'd stop whining. Otherwise I couldn't be less interested.

Illicililly · 24/08/2026 16:06

At 70 I just don’t get the antagonism towards them. Harry has been dealt some pretty serious setbacks in his life and I feel compassion towards them both.

HelpMeGetThrough · 24/08/2026 16:07

I’m mid 50s and couldn’t give a shit about any of the Royal Family. To me they are of no use.

AndnowIneedanewname · 24/08/2026 16:09

dolwop · 24/08/2026 12:43

Good point, over 50 maybe?

Yes I agree it’s just gossip and light entertainment, but some people seem so passionately angry about it, like it’s personal?

You have ruined my day. I assumed you meant 70+.

*I couldn't give a toss about any of the royal family. Neither could anyone else I know of my age (52)

I was thinking that, @KittyTinker. ‘Old’ on here isn’t that much older than Meg at 45, or H at nearly 42. Grin

Meanwhile, dig under the surface and the African Parks allegations about rape and torture are deeply unpleasant; and the Invictus allegations about financial irregularities deeply worrying; and the Sentebale allegations of bullying, racism, misogyny and misogynoir deeply troubling.

But hey ho, we mustn’t care about it too much. Nothing much to cover up see here.

Sahara123 · 24/08/2026 16:16

I’m an old fogey and I’m not in the least bit interested in them or indeed any other person who doesn’t affect my life, and that I don’t know.

Well, I don’t know. I’m older generation and I couldn’t care less about any of them. I think the lot of them are a waste of space. 🙄

I have been wondering about the IPP status in that regard I seem to recall that it gives a level of protection from prosecution and they seem awfully keen to regain it despite them being able to afford their own security. The putting a white pill in Charlotte Griffiths’s mouth is an act I really worry about.
