Stopping the boats is easy...

All we have to do is abandon the ECHR, the Refugee Convention, the UN, the G7, NATO and the WTO. Then we can break maritime law and start sinking the boats. Obviously we'd have to proscribe the RNLI and change the job description of the coast guard to encourage people who want to sink boats to sign up. The fishermen will be fine.
Once we start with this deterrent we can start kicking out other undesirables. I'd start with the students. Coming over here using our universities as a gateway to benefits street. So we ban them, no more student visas. We might see a few universities close but no great loss, you learn more in the school of life.
After that take away access to ALL benefits for anyone not born here. Don't care if you've always worked and paid your taxes you're not ENGERLISH so less Dr Khalid more Dr Callum.
Obviously once we start making Britain Great again there may be a couple of teensy issues. Food might cost a lot more because the lefty EU might not want to trade with a nation that wants to isolate itself and kill innocent people. It'll be fine because there will be 100% employment because instead of benefits you'll have to do your 60 hours on the food farm to earn your pound credits.
Family will be legally obliged to look after any living relative as there won't be anyone left to do it because we deported them all. And obviously the NHS was full of loony lefties who went round caring for people instead of focusing on what really mattered, which is profit.
They're just a couple of the benefits of stopping the boats, because who cares about the bigger picture or unintended consequences eh?
Giving up our place on the world stage is a small price to pay for stopping a handful of people coming from countries we benefited from or bombed isn't it?

Oh and I’m still waiting for your thoughts about the statistical fact that majority Muslim countries do take in the vast majority of the world’s refugees. What are your thoughts on that?

https://www.unhcr.org/refugee-statistics/insights/explainers/refugees-largest-places.html

Which is how it should be. The wealth of a lot of Muslim countries could easily deal with refugees.

Plus if I were a refugee, I'd be looking to travel to a country where the culture, the people and the belief system is similar to what I already know...ie Western Europe, not Japan

You are really showing your ignorance here (and in your previous posts).

I bet it was a lot better than being murdered by Vikings like most of my ancestors.

If you look at a world map, you can see the size of the British Isles compared with, say, the continent of Africa. Britain has a tiny land mass in comparison.

What’s with the bait and switch? That has nothing to do with what that poster said (that Muslim countries are not taking in refugees) or my point (that they most certainly are taking in refugees in their millions). Don’t try and change the subject, it’s so tiresome.

What I would have been against is the UK using the aftermath of either war as an opportunity to land grab, carve up territories and displace millions of people. Which is exactly what happened. And led to today’s issues.

It really didn't.

Makes a change from blaming Brexit I suppose.

Absolutely nothing to say when presented with the facts? Yeah, unfortunately for your world view it is those pesky ‘Islamists’ who are taking in and supporting the vast majority of the world’s refugees. I appreciate it is painful to admit when you’re simply blinded by your own prejudices.

So you have a problem with the term Islam? Looks like it's you, who is the racist.

Ok so you’re here and want to welcome unlimited people even if it’s millions.

Starting a bit smaller would you say yes to mass accommodation nearby to you?

Labour needs some help as they keep getting protests, you’d be a yes?

LuckyHazelFox · Today 09:28

@Constantinoodle how many Palestinians have Egypt and Jordan taken in recently?

I posed that question to her days' ago. Crickets.

I am so, so glad someone finally asked this question. I led a few people here but you were the one to bite. Which countries hosted the most refugees over the last 10 years? Predominantly Muslim countries! By their millions actually.

Here you go: https://www.unhcr.org/refugee-statistics/insights/explainers/refugees-largest-places.html

But not the Gulf States, as I said.

None of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries—Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain—are signatories to the 1951 UN Refugee Convention or its 1967 Protocol

Okay, I really can’t spend any more time trying to instil some actual facts and statistics into this particular discussion. Have a great day everyone, and remember: the single best way to ensure “the boats” stop is to keep petitioning the government to keep its beak out of other nations’ business. No wars, no bombs, no land grabs, no stealing of natural resources.

Ah that’s a shame. Perhaps you’ll help the Labour gov out with barracks at some point.

Glad you don't like land grabs. Central London is becoming quite cluttered with tents on the streets. Great idea with granting asylum when they've nowhere to go.

But you said we have to accept the boats or whatever because of our nation’s past sins - so it’s not worth petitioning as I can’t change what happened 100 or more years ago!

Incidentally, how does the country support “no limits” immigration? I suppose your view is that if we sink into chaos and war then serves us right.

I never understand the Sins of the Father argument. Do you believe a criminal’s children should bear ongoing responsibility for his crime?

themoonandhalfacrown · Today 09:44

@Constantinoodle "No wars, no bombs, no land grabs, no stealing of natural resources."
Who's doing all that in Sudan, Eritrea, Afghanistan and Vietnam ? Certainly not UK !
There's no war on in France as far as I know - unless the Gilet Jaunes have had an uprising in the past 24 hours ?

Islam is not a race.

They are so busy saying everyone is Islamophobic, they catch themselves out with that one. Antagonists need to start getting the basics right.

Menopausalsourpuss · Today 09:54

The biggest exploiter of Africa's minerals etc at the moment is China. Why aren't they taking loads of "refugees" to atone for their sins? And I know we buy the phones etc that use the exploited minerals but they are the ones that do the exploiting and enrich themselves.

Indeed.

They’re just making themselves look stupid. Which is ironic considering they’re trying to act so clever and superior.
