Stopping the boats is easy...

All we have to do is abandon the ECHR, the Refugee Convention, the UN, the G7, NATO and the WTO. Then we can break maritime law and start sinking the boats. Obviously we'd have to proscribe the RNLI and change the job description of the coast guard to encourage people who want to sink boats to sign up. The fishermen will be fine.
Once we start with this deterrent we can start kicking out other undesirables. I'd start with the students. Coming over here using our universities as a gateway to benefits street. So we ban them, no more student visas. We might see a few universities close but no great loss, you learn more in the school of life.
After that take away access to ALL benefits for anyone not born here. Don't care if you've always worked and paid your taxes you're not ENGERLISH so less Dr Khalid more Dr Callum.
Obviously once we start making Britain Great again there may be a couple of teensy issues. Food might cost a lot more because the lefty EU might not want to trade with a nation that wants to isolate itself and kill innocent people. It'll be fine because there will be 100% employment because instead of benefits you'll have to do your 60 hours on the food farm to earn your pound credits.
Family will be legally obliged to look after any living relative as there won't be anyone left to do it because we deported them all. And obviously the NHS was full of loony lefties who went round caring for people instead of focusing on what really mattered, which is profit.
They're just a couple of the benefits of stopping the boats, because who cares about the bigger picture or unintended consequences eh?
Giving up our place on the world stage is a small price to pay for stopping a handful of people coming from countries we benefited from or bombed isn't it?

It's also a tenet of Islam.
Islamic teachings weave compassion for the needy into the core requirements of faith and daily life.

Now ask me why the Gulf States won't take refugees ??

I am so, so glad someone finally asked this question. I led a few people here but you were the one to bite. Which countries hosted the most refugees over the last 10 years? Predominantly Muslim countries! By their millions actually.

Here you go: https://www.unhcr.org/refugee-statistics/insights/explainers/refugees-largest-places.html

And if the UK followed your advice of living out its beliefs personally then there would be no boats. Funny that.

Not as funny as Islamic countries not living out their beliefs to their own poor and needy.

(94% of all channel crossings are Islamists, rest are Buddhist/Taoists)

There probably are a few here who’d like to welcome millions. No limits

With Russia threatening last week to bomb British factories, do you think this is a priority for our Forces?

The French towed a dinghy back the shore using a jet ski recently. It can be done safely.
No need to use hyperbole and Russia.

Perhaps Burnham should have given Ukraine the blueprints for long range weapons a little more quietly. The big fanfare and photo op seems to have prompted a response from Russia.

What’s an Islamist? Do you mean a Muslim?

A person who follows Islam is an Islamist IMO.

Yes, like Rachel Maskell "until we reach saturation point".
Except she's now campaigning against a base being used near her own constituency. Funny that.

If your thread wasn't so long I'd think it was all said in jest. No prizes for guessing who you'll be voting for in the next GE. What about human rights? Can't believe someone would think like this!

@Constantinoodle "And the Romans and Mongols did not need to apologise. Why? Because they themselves were invaded and defeated. So maybe don’t wish you were a Roman."

The Mongols didn't concern us, but they gave the Romans a bit of a headache.
The Romans left Britannia in about 400AD

The real pain were the Vikings who had control of most of the east side of Britain until they were driven out by the Norman Conquest in 1066.

I might just go and picket the Danish Embassy in London on my quest for reparation.

Personally I'm quids in when it comes to reparations. One of my ancestors was "Barbadosed" by Judge Jefferies and his mates following the Monmouth Rebellion in 1685. He was from Shepton Mallet.

Yes mostly it’s empty virtue signalling but the reality is a no thanks not near here.

Oh and I’m still waiting for your thoughts about the statistical fact that majority Muslim countries do take in the vast majority of the world’s refugees. What are your thoughts on that?

Sorry, I don't get your point. Russia isn't stupid enough to bomb the UK just at the moment. And moment is the critical point. The small boats have been coming for years.

If we had an PM who wasn't trying to make political statements to conceal the bad news coming out way, we wouldn't be under threat. What sort of idiot publicly tells the world that we are giving away top secret plans!

No it doesn’t, all it does is demonstrate how quickly patriotism morphs into nationalism.

I am British and don’t hate Britain, I’m just not prepared to pretend British foreign policy has not wreaked death and destruction across the planet.

So why do you keep othering Britain? Every post you write refers to Britain/British as other. Its your history too. You can't separate yourself from it.
You clearly do hate Britain if you're even willing to throw us under a bus for the great war. Would you have supported the central powers?

It’s because I’m not tribal.

Absolutely nothing to say when presented with the facts? Yeah, unfortunately for your world view it is those pesky ‘Islamists’ who are taking in and supporting the vast majority of the world’s refugees. I appreciate it is painful to admit when you’re simply blinded by your own prejudices.

Barbadosed is the name given to people being placed into slavery for 'crimes' committed in the UK. So idp don't think he stayed at an All Inclusive hotel do you

If you look at a world map, you can see the size of the British Isles compared with, say, the continent of Africa. Britain has a tiny land mass in comparison.

Constantinoodle · Today 09:23

Nuthatch26 · Today 09:20

What I would have been against is the UK using the aftermath of either war as an opportunity to land grab, carve up territories and displace millions of people. Which is exactly what happened. And led to today’s issues.

What on earth is racist about the term Islamist? Do you have a problem with Christians being called Christians because they practice Christianity? Islam is practiced by both good faith and bad faith Muslims, otherwise known as extremists. Nobody has a problem with the former and you know that.
