Stopping the boats is easy...

All we have to do is abandon the ECHR, the Refugee Convention, the UN, the G7, NATO and the WTO. Then we can break maritime law and start sinking the boats. Obviously we'd have to proscribe the RNLI and change the job description of the coast guard to encourage people who want to sink boats to sign up. The fishermen will be fine.
Once we start with this deterrent we can start kicking out other undesirables. I'd start with the students. Coming over here using our universities as a gateway to benefits street. So we ban them, no more student visas. We might see a few universities close but no great loss, you learn more in the school of life.
After that take away access to ALL benefits for anyone not born here. Don't care if you've always worked and paid your taxes you're not ENGERLISH so less Dr Khalid more Dr Callum.
Obviously once we start making Britain Great again there may be a couple of teensy issues. Food might cost a lot more because the lefty EU might not want to trade with a nation that wants to isolate itself and kill innocent people. It'll be fine because there will be 100% employment because instead of benefits you'll have to do your 60 hours on the food farm to earn your pound credits.
Family will be legally obliged to look after any living relative as there won't be anyone left to do it because we deported them all. And obviously the NHS was full of loony lefties who went round caring for people instead of focusing on what really mattered, which is profit.
They're just a couple of the benefits of stopping the boats, because who cares about the bigger picture or unintended consequences eh?
Giving up our place on the world stage is a small price to pay for stopping a handful of people coming from countries we benefited from or bombed isn't it?

The terrorist state of Israel has got off with killing thousands of innocent people in Gaza and is now allowing their illegal squatters to ethnically cleanse Palestine. And the world still deals with them.

According to an international Gallup poll, 900 million people wish to emigrate from parts of the world, mostly to US and Canada, but 25-30 million state the UK as their preferred destination.

if every single one of those cites “asylum” as their reason for arriving here, is that still a “nothing can be done” because of “international laws”?

Citation please? I doubt there was a poll of 900M people.

I have requested implementable solutions. You haven’t explained how to make your ideas, you know, work.

Yes I have. Go back.

You’ve made some incorrect assumptions on the Aus system, which isn’t helping you.

Edited

Which incorrect assumptions have I made?

Aus and Denmark are not identical, any implication otherwise was careless. But no, you have not explained how to make it work whilst retaining the support and security that we need now more than ever.

’Do this’, ‘do that’ - how exactly? You need either the Supreme Court or a Parliamentary majority on your side. And presumably you wish to retain some allies at the end of it. The Court and the Parliament sure do, and they don’t mean Russia. The rabid right wing won’t be in power in America for much longer, either.

You are starting to sound like Trump. Look where It’s Easy, Just Do It has landed him.

Sure. You’ve still got it wrong, you’re starting to sound like Trump. Is that how it goes

Productive.

But they are in a safe country i.e. France so are not actually entertaining the country to claim asylum are they....there is nothing to stop them claiming asylum in France or any of the other equally prosperous and safe European countries they have passed through to get to France.

They are entering the UK as they believe they will get befits/housing/work not because they are in an unsafe country and need help.

👏👏

Incidentally Australia is pretty happy and not a global outcast and still tops rights tables, even the Labor gov is not foolish enough that go back to the mad dangerous chaos of what we have.

What does this have to do with actually accomplishing change in the UK?

The biggest of these is the fact that Denmark grants only temporary refugee status now, with a regular assessment as to whether those granted (temporary) asylum can be safely returned.

Guess what? Starmer and Mahmood brought in the same policy.

It’s a good start, but they obviously need to bring in all of Denmark’s asylum policies to make a noticeable difference. In 2025 the UK had 82,100 asylum applications relating to 100,625 individuals. Denmark had 1835.

You people are OBSESSED.
No word on the thousands of innocent Israelis killed on 7 October, of course.

No, because they don’t matter.

Disgusting but not surprising.

Stopping the boats is very easy. Just stop bombing other countries or supporting your “allies” to bomb them.

Pakistan is one of the top countries who claim asylum in the UK. So what now? No-one's bombing them.

Do you want me to explain Partition to you? It’s about time people in the UK understood that the ramifications of the actions our government makes today will be felt for generations. Stop sowing war, instability and violence elsewhere and the UK will go very far in protecting its borders for future generations.

GunnelVallquist · Yesterday 16:39

Did anyone hear about this?

A migrant boat left a teenage tourist with serious injuries after striking her off the coast of Italy. The vessel was pictured approaching and then colliding with the 17-year-old girl as it neared Su Giudeu Beach, in Sardinia, on August 16.

Partition did indeed cause a huge amount of death and instability.
That is not the current situation in Pakistan so what are people claiming asylum from?

Read a book.

Pakistan is not at war in 2026, there should be zero asylum seekers from there.
Unless you think they're some sort of human punishment we should endure for sins of the past, which seems a bit racist.

I declined to react to an irrelevant statement you made about boats from Indonesia.

I also to mention that the Conservatives passed an absurd law declaring Rwanda yo be safe country, nullifying the legal basis for the Supreme Court ruling. However this quickly became irrelevant because one of the first things Labour did was to cancel the programme, following expert advice.

Neither omission constitutes an incorrect statement. Now how about telling us how to make your ideas work?

If you read the thread it was pointed out how the Aussies stopped boats arriving
