Stopping the boats is easy...

All we have to do is abandon the ECHR, the Refugee Convention, the UN, the G7, NATO and the WTO. Then we can break maritime law and start sinking the boats. Obviously we'd have to proscribe the RNLI and change the job description of the coast guard to encourage people who want to sink boats to sign up. The fishermen will be fine.
Once we start with this deterrent we can start kicking out other undesirables. I'd start with the students. Coming over here using our universities as a gateway to benefits street. So we ban them, no more student visas. We might see a few universities close but no great loss, you learn more in the school of life.
After that take away access to ALL benefits for anyone not born here. Don't care if you've always worked and paid your taxes you're not ENGERLISH so less Dr Khalid more Dr Callum.
Obviously once we start making Britain Great again there may be a couple of teensy issues. Food might cost a lot more because the lefty EU might not want to trade with a nation that wants to isolate itself and kill innocent people. It'll be fine because there will be 100% employment because instead of benefits you'll have to do your 60 hours on the food farm to earn your pound credits.
Family will be legally obliged to look after any living relative as there won't be anyone left to do it because we deported them all. And obviously the NHS was full of loony lefties who went round caring for people instead of focusing on what really mattered, which is profit.
They're just a couple of the benefits of stopping the boats, because who cares about the bigger picture or unintended consequences eh?
Giving up our place on the world stage is a small price to pay for stopping a handful of people coming from countries we benefited from or bombed isn't it?

Reform has. Well they have a plan which none of the others has. Based on the Australian model which seems to work

How do Reform plan to replicate the geography of Australia, particularly its relative isolation? Bit difficult to approach by rowboat or with a rickety outboard motor.

Our policies are already very similar to Denmark’s, and even more stringent in some ways. But we are much more approachable geographically, English is a much easier (and often more familiar) language than Danish, many people feel a cultural tie to the UK or have family here, etc. That’s why Danish policies aren’t having the same result that they do in Denmark.

Australian policies aren’t very different. (Denmark is being challenged on outsourcing, that is the biggest difference.) Why would they work if Danish ones don’t?

The boats weren’t particularly big, we’ve already surpassed in numbers anyway

A typical boat carrying asylum seekers to Australia historically averaged between 50 and 70 people

Peak Years (2011–2013): During periods of higher maritime arrivals, averages ranged from 50 to over 70 people (including crew) per wooden fishing boat or vessel departing from places like Indonesia.

She is fully entitled to do that by law, so what’s the problem?

The law shouldn't allow this nonsense

The EU is still facing its own individual issues between countries, it’s not made migration problems go away for them either.

Tech deregulation has helped our local AI and tech industry

Look. Detain them. Charged them with illegal entry. Deport them.

Our policies aren’t anything like Denmark’s. In Denmark refugee status is temporary and reviewed regularly. If your home country is considered safe, your refugee status is revoked. Failed asylum seekers are also transferred to detention facilities for deportation. The Danish government also did extensive social media campaigns across Africa and Arab nations to publicise their new policies. As a result, Denmark granted asylum to only 864 people in 2024 vs 39,616 people in the UK.

@Fluffypuppy1 I like the fact they decided to spread that news to stop people even trying .

We did have the rights and substantial economic advantages accruing to EU member states until we committed that monumental act of self harm known as Brexit.

One thing the EU gives its members is some equability in the distribution of asylum seekers.

Err recent spat between Spain and the EU re immigration makes to look like it's working soooo well

FatEndoftheWedge · 25/08/2026 20:57

Omg I've just read that a Sudanese asylum seeker who was rejected by France came here and attacked a woman with a bottle.

Honestly ! Am I missing something here this has to stop ! Yesterday !

NotAnotherScarf · 22/08/2026 15:54

It is actually easy. Any body who tries to claim asylum is automatically declined and deported. As they have committed a crime in entering the UK illegally.

Naturally we still process legitimate applications for asylum but not these

The ONLY way to claim asylum here is……

drum roll …..

To arrive here!! Yes. The ONLY way.

I’ve just googled that.

Fucking frightening.

You’re all happy to have more of that, do-gooders?

climbintheback · 25/08/2026 21:31

Why can’t our Government take the bits from the rest of Europe that seem to be working and implement them - we do not seem to be doing anything to ease the pull - now we’ve got 70,000 houses in the pipeline whoopee at the rate it’s going we will need 170,000!

Is anyone still lobbing abuse at women who think this isn’t a good idea?

As they have for a couple of years

It’s all men…isn’t it?

We’re racist and xenophobic.

I’m starting to think those people have nothing between their ears.

Maybe they don’t have dds. Or perhaps they still do. Either way hurling abuse at women isn’t the way to go.

But I don’t think it works anymore, thankfully.

Yep, seen it.

I was going to comment, but then I thought what’s the point?

EasternStandard · 25/08/2026 22:08

Politicians won’t have to fix it if they’re let off the hook. All these excuses, just why

Brazillas · 25/08/2026 22:10

There are bad British men. But overall Britain is a safer place to be a woman than sudan. Sudanese men in Sudan commit horrific atrocious acts of violence that blow the UK out of scale

Exactly.

Nobody has ever said that there are no British rapists. Or Swedish rapists. Or Germans, French, Spanish…

Literally nobody has claimed that. Ever.

Ceuta is an unusual case for the EU though because it's not in the Schengen area and is one of only two EU territories to have a land border with an African nation.

It’s not just Ceuta

Yes, EU countries are clashing fiercely over how to implement the new rules, with significant political battles breaking out now that the Pact on Migration and Asylum has officially taken effect

Various ways they’re disagreeing and there’s backlash

Fine...but if you are in France (for the thousandth time) why ain't you claiming asylum there? Why come here risking your life , spending thousands?
