Asking on behalf of DD who is expecting. What are in your view the worst girl and boy names. for me they are the made up ones like Nevaeh and Jayden

Some silly classism in both directions on this thread, which was of course completely predictable. Heaven forbid anyone chooses anything other than a popular middle-class British name for their child!

OP, I’m sure your daughter will choose a name she loves that she feels suits her child without the need to trawl through a thread of strangers’ least favourite names 👍

I like Barry - not as in Manilow but Barry from Sorted foods , he's delightfully ditsy .

Gary or Garry is off the table now .

I wanted to call our children Gulliver and Ramona. DH thought I'd lost the plot.

No such thing as name classism in 2026 with the internet anyone can google and name their kid whatever they want. My eldest I had at 16 while living in a homeless shelter has a so called posh name and my youngest I had as a grown woman in her twenties married to a man with a middle class job has a name that’s been called chavvy on here.

Hugo is also apparently the epitome of posh but I know a literal crackhead named her son Hugo (he was taken away at birth though)

You could do Gyros instead? Sounds the same but a much more unique spelling that will also be mispronounced

I called my dd Sophie and was told it sounded like 'sofa' and ds is a Joshua,my mother (again) and her mate (who must have discussed it) 'I cant imagine having a gorgeous baby and calling it' josh'

Everyone will have an opinion and everyone can either keep it to themselves or shove it up their arse
