To be a bit gleeful about Harry's court case

Serves him right. He's made millions from Netflix, book deals and accusing them of being racist. Bit odd he's now coming back.

Will the King pay his debts.I hope not. Now the long suffering public will be fleeced for his security costs which will be around £5m a yea r. And they wonder why they are unpopular.

Maybe not but the total volume of noise created collectively about this couple, could be damaging , if it encourages some nutter to act with ill intent.

And media pile ons are unpleasant per se. They are the modern equivalent of the village stocks.

Also, sorry to harp on, but I find it quite strange and baffling when a hugely powerful, rich, influential institution like the monarchy feels it’s necessary to close its doors on individuals like Harry or Diana and freeze them out for speaking publicly when they still protect Andrew despite his very dubious, perhaps even criminal, behaviour.

He is being investigated by police for allegedly abusing vulnerable women, making dodgy side deals and giving away state secrets, but it’s ok, he just made a complete bog of things on Newsnight. he didn’t criticise The Firm or The Family! How very loyal and good! 😏

It gives the impression that silence and loyalty is valued by BP above merit and above right and wrong.

It smacks of an organisation that is unprofessional and toxic. Why do they need to be so secretive? What in reality are they really protecting?

I can understand them getting antsy about the racism charge because there have been solid grounds for that accusation in the past. But why not admit that some of them may have been unconsciously racist towards Meghan if that was her experience? It might have been positive in PR terms to be less reactive and defensive and at least give the impression of engaging in the debate?

Seriously, why is there such need for extreme privacy and lack of openness within the family and the institution if everything is above board within them?

It does seem strange to have to make an appointment with your own father, especially when Charles complained about the formality and distance between him and his own parents!

Even if The Firm felt they had behaved well towards Harry, wouldn’t it have been better to issue a statement saying “yes we took our eye off the ball with Meghan and Harry because these issues arose at a time when the late Queen and Prince Philip were ill, everyone was dealing with Covid and it was a fraught time.We are now working together to make amends”

A statement like that would have taken the wind out of everyone’s sales.

The Palace would have come out of it as sympathetic, human and flexible - something I suspect they are not.

The whole shebang would have died away.

And the media wouldn’t have been able to blow up and make tons of profit from the family feud.

And H&M would have saved face, wouldn’t have been pushed in to a corner, and their response would possibly not have been so impulsive and extreme.

It’s all got very much out of hand.

For BP with highly trained PR personnel, it’s very odd, which leads me to speculate whether the H&M noise was encouraged while the worst of AMW’s disgrace was in the papers.

I wonder if BP have heard on the grapevine that AMW will now not be charged so it’s ok for H&M to return to the fold? 😉

Now that is wild* *speculation on my part and as such is hypocritical, so I’ll leave it there.

Although I think speculation about a powerful rich influential institution supported by tax payers is possibly a tad more legitimate than speculation about spurned individuals within it who seem to exist outside of the protective PR wagon circle.

Edited

Andrew lost his title, is being investigated by the police so I’m not sure what else you want. But it’s not a competition as to whose behaviour is worse. Both have behaved terribly and both should be held to account and criticised.

Back to OPs thread, I speak it speaks volumes about a person who finds joy, takes pleasure in or is gleefully about other peoples lives when they haven't done anything as bad as killing or sexually abusing someone.

@Filoparcels017
”How do you know that H wasn’t treated appallingly within the family relatively speaking? Behind the scenes of the big family wedding, they appeared to be quite hostile to his choice of bride.”

Here you see what I mean. You are speculating without regard to how you may be causing harm. Also, in conflict with the facts in evidence. Charles walked Meghan down the aisle. Many things were done to pay homage to Meghan’s background. I don’t know of any evidence that anyone was “quite hostile” toward Harry’s choice of bride.

Of course the royal family would appear to be inclusive in public. Everything about their life is symbolic and performative. They are hardly going to admit that they disliked Meghan on sight are they, if that was the case? Or disliked the fact that she was bold enough to stick up for herself and had her own opinions?

Harry wrote that William wasn’t very enthusiastic about the match and asked him to pause and think about it.

That may have been protective and wide advice. Or it may have been racist, or classist, or he may not have liked the fact that she was a divorcee? We simply don’t know.

But Harry wrote about how William’reacted in Spare. And you can choose to believe it or not. That hasn’t come from my imagination. There’s a difference.

And as I said, criticising a powerful institution which can pay for tons of lawyers and PR professionals and who have a strong influence in the press and in the civil service and the forces, is rather different to speculating about isolated individuals outside of it. And you can’t really separate the monarch and the heir from their role. Which is why imho, it would be far better to have a professional elected appointment for head of state, without all of these adjoining family complications.

Does anyone really believe that the UK is enhanced by having all of these stories about H& M fill our newspapers and headlines?

Andrew lost his title after a cover up of over a decade and even then KC3 was dragged kicking àd screaming in to action,

Do you want to bet on whether AMW will be found guilty and sent to prison?

Back to H&M…

It’s the proportion of condemnation and opprobrium directed at H&M that everyone is saying is totally out of whack though.

And you either stubbornly refuse to admit that it is, or you genuinely believe that what H&M have done is equivalent to:

~allegedly making huge profits for yourself on the side while you are meant to be promoting UK business in an official role aka fraud

-~ allegedly abusing vulnerable women and being in the position where you have to pay one off to the tune of £12 million

~ allegedly revealing confidential national trade secrets and information to your cronies for grace and favour reasons

-~allegedly endangering national security by inviting an alleged Chinese spy in to BP

If it’s the latter then it’s so ludicrous then there is no point in continuing to debate!

I’m not sure what point you are trying to argue here.

Surely you don’t believe your opinion is valid to share but no one else should do so?

Or that you are the only one whose conjecture and opinion is based on the material that has been made available?

Edit- Sorry this was supposed to be attached to UKisgaslight’s post in reply to Benjitthe dog.

Absolutely this. And it’s utterly ludicrous and ignorant to suggest otherwise.

And sorry Benjithedog but what about …

The Stephen Lawrence murder and subsequent investigation?

The Macpherson report and Institutional racism in the Met in 1999?

The Windrush Scandal?

Disproportionate stop and search figures?

Anti-semitism in the NHS?

Stark health care disparities in NHS maternity care for black and Asian mothers and higher infant mortality rates?

And many more examples.

In the UK we pat ourselves on the back and like to think we are not a racist country, and indeed we may be better in some areas than some other other European countries, but until that is reflected in reality by figures gleaned from research in to our institutions, our politics, our workplaces, schools, universities. and our public services, we still have a lot of work to do and that vision of ourselves remains just that.

I can’t be bothered with the constant AMW whataboutery on a thread that has rockall to do with him.

We all agree he is a shady excuse of a man and a pretty vile individual.

I’d be more enamoured to have reasons why H &M should be revered and for someone to try and change my mind.

I daresay it might be possible but I’ve yet to be convinced.

And the more folk go with the whataboutery in order to evade that, the more inclined I am to believe they cannot.

AMW is Snakes on a Plane. There are tons of threads about him and very little disagreement, so not much more to be said. Maybe the posters you tagged earlier can shed some light on why they are not more active in that discussion.
