To think Meghan Markle has every right to worry about her security?

I’m not a monarchist and haven’t really taken much notice of the whole saga, but obviously do know the main points.

However, the comments across Mumsnet and multiple newspapers and websites are absolutely insane and unhinged. People who don’t know them insisting she’s leaving Harry and the kids, is controlling him, that they’re skint and tge
kids will have to go to state school if Charles doesn’t pay, people saying they hope a random stranger sees her and gives her ‘some home truths’.

It is absolutely crackers and I worry about the sanity of the people who seem to really believe they know them.

Completely agree.
I am not anti royal or pro royal but I seriously don't understand the hate for Meghan Markle.

Her record of lying, bullying, self regarding narcissism and disrespect to the late queen and royal family is plain to anyone who has eyes and watched any of their tortured woe-is-me content. Even South Park parodied it. If you don’t understand perhaps that reflects more on you.

I don’t really like her but she and the Children need some protection . Harry was paying privately in the States why can’t he do that here?

Our previous monarch’s children didn’t/don”t get protection outside of being working on royal duties, so why should the current monarch’s?

I can entirely understand the worry when you read so many people who will never, ever meet them frothing at the mouth in anger just because she exists.

Where are you reading that?

Everywhere. Have a look at the treads about them on the Royal Family board. Or any comments about them on any newspaper article.

I would hope that tax funded security (ie. the police) would indeed come to your aid if you were being burgled.

It is entirely reasonable to take the view that the state shouldn’t pay for their round the clock security, but I can entirely understand the worry when you read so many people who will never, ever meet them frothing at the mouth in anger just because she exists.

Completely agree the anti Meghan brigade are insane.

The comments on this forum are insane.
These haters have neither met them or know them yet the way they speak is utterly deranged.
The Sussex family returning to the UK will have zero effect on their lives. It's quite baffling and disturbing to see adults act this way.
Yanbu.

Totally agree with this and totally agree with you op!

It’s quite refreshing to have different views aired on this site about H and M
for a change!

It will be the same people who lined up to have a pop at Jason Arday but then piped down when it ended tragicly. She can move to where she wants, it literally has nothing to do with any of us. If people weren't so vitriolic about them online then maybe they wouldn't need to worry about protection. Given what just happened to Ann Widdecombe, there are a thousand more loons on standby willing to have a go at Meghan I'm sure

Edited

I never piped down he was a crook...I don't dislike her or him. Im just pissed off he had the brass neck to take the government to court because he expected to receive protection paid for by the British people when hd quit working for the British people. I'm a loyalist but he walked away and now suddenly weeks later its safe?

FrippEnos · 20/08/2026 22:40

I am sure that they are coming over here to live a quiet life and not because they will be in the press just because they are breathing, I am also sure that she won't try and continue to make herself the victim of whatever she wants.

Are you qualified to diagnose someone with narcissism?

The late Queen covered up one of her sons being a sex pest or worse. No respect from me there.

I think he's the worst decision she's ever made. The man isn't bright and his entire world revolves around himself. Must be exhausting to live with

I think he's have a massive over inflated ego, and she has been his scape goat, I also think the uk wanted him to stay in the role of a 'fun loving uncle' and when he stepped out of that role she paid the price.

i think Catherine and William must be so delighted to have them in the spotlight, they can take a few more weeks off 'work' while everyone is distracted.

You don’t know her. You have no idea what went on.

Hold on. What about the Oprah interview, the Netflix series, the book, the constant drama around them all self inflicted.

I wouldn’t trust her for an instant, she falls out with all her family bar her Mum, falls out with all Harry’s family, then skips off to the States whilst trying to flog her brand.

Just give it a rest MM!

I just don't understand how the UK was too dangerous for her and the children 2 weeks ago, causing her to change travel plans last minute and cancel public engagements, but now they are moving here and enrolled in schools. Has the threat disappeared?

I don't have a strong opinion about either of them but they do seem to make a lot of noise for a couple who don't want public attention

Did she tell you it was too dangerous when you saw her last? Did she text you the flight details of her changed flight? When you spoke to her was she not arsed about the engagements she had to cancel? It’s lovely that you’re so close.

Newspapers, the Daily Mail. Endless stories running them down and then people get invested weirdly over total strangers.

Harry is right, vast majority of the British press is scum.

The online poison directed at MM is dangerous.

PropertyD · 20/08/2026 22:47

Their PR is everywhere, It’s like a naked man walking down the street and you saying well don’t look. They were being discussed on the hour Sky News, the main 10 oclock BBC news, the headlines on all the daily papers

Why are you so emotionally invested? There has been very recent legal action/court cases where they have stated they are not safe in the UK and require state funded security. I only wondered what has changed since then.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 20/08/2026 22:49

Same here. I don’t understand why people are so nasty about her

InterestQ · 20/08/2026 22:50

I don’t even understand why we know this? Who leaked it? Why do they want the public to know? Such unnecessary info that never needed to get out there but someone wanted it leaked for publicity. And it isn’t the BRF.

they could have bought somewhere. Moved here. NDAs for everyone, had a housewarming etc. But no. All had to be internationally publicised. Why do they even do this to themselves. Being low key is cheaper!

Sure. Once they’d actually arrived! But not weeks before. And even then. Private jet, tinted windows, big gates at new house in unspecified county. Not for a while they wouldn’t. We didn’t know where their honeymoon was til he told all in his book. Why did we need to be told? Why don’t they want this shit to stay private as long as possible? It’s so weird to constantly publicise every move.

This is just naive.

The press will pay thousands to anyone who leaks this info.

if you genuinely think this is their “PR” spreading news to an entirely disinterested country, I just despair.

You are entirely right OP.
