To think that Harry and Megan's return to the UK has everything to do with money running out?

That really. I mean it's not like they are loved here whether it comes to family or the public. I think Harry might genuinly want to live in England whereas his wife is looking for the attention and money.

Probably the jam season is good over here at the moment.

🤣🤣🤣

But wasn't the UK the most racist, ickiest, nasty country ever?

Wasn’t? Is judging by all the flags flying around where I live!

I always find it fascinating when people act as if they know them.

And feel like they have the right to judge.

These people spend millions a year making sure people feel as if they know them.

Gowlett · 20/08/2026 10:12

If she’d stuck it out for 10 years in the UK she would have become the Duchess of Sussex, and not still be Meghan Markle. Look at Kate. Then, once the kids were grown-up, educated, they could have relocated to Montecito. A golden opportunity wasted… That’s why people are so fascinated by her, IMO.

Monty36 · 20/08/2026 09:59

I don’t think it is. I think people see her as manipulative and a bit odd.
Alarm bells sounded when she said she had no idea who he was when they first met. Whilst also admitting to being a huge Royal family fan and Diana fan especially. Made no sense. Even Harry looked uncomfortable. It all went wrong from there.

Absolutely. It was the insincerity. People hate blatant insincerity.

The pair of them have got zero shame.

What should they be so ashamed of?

Yes because the Royal Family is so sincere 🤣

They’re a well honed PR machine who are referred to internally as The Firm.

Is that a direct quote or your fantasy quote? Citation needed.

MyDpsanarse · 20/08/2026 10:21

@EverythingAIIAtOnce I've thought for a while that Harry wanted Charles to sort security more to show he cared than anything, he'd like to be the Prodigal son who comes home and all's forgiven and forgotten.

NuNameNuMe · 20/08/2026 10:27

Well I Iike them a lot. So the narrative they're "hated" here is true for some people, but not for all. That said, I'm surprised they'd want to return, maybe it's to spend time with Charles as he gets older, then skidaddle when King William is coronated. There's still a void for a personable royal person or couple. You'd have thunk Kate and William would have stepped up as their fans always promise they're just about to do. Hard cheese on them if comparisons re-emerge. Too lazy and or entitled?

True. What’s the point of all that?

Sherararara · 20/08/2026 10:32

Totally agree OP. Their time in America has been a massive failure by every measure.
But now we have them. Great.

Most of them do a reasonable job of sounding sincere though.

simpsonthecat · 20/08/2026 10:37

@NuNameNuMe Agree with you.

It's going to be painful for the Royal family but it's a good thing, william and kate need a wake up call that they can't disappear for weeks and weeks and maybe this will hit home.
As far as why...Harry has always spoken about his father in fond terms, especially in his book, so why not?

What amuses me greatly across the probably by now 7 threads, is how the detractors seem to know the state of their bank accounts, the fact Charles has no contact with them, their reasons for this move, who they are in contact with and what they are saying.
You know nothing.
As with any royal member, we know about 1% of what goes on so why the usual suspects imagine they know everything about this move, god alone knows. ,

I have nothing against them, I hope this works for them. Yes, they have been a couple of twats at times, but no more twattish than the royals we pay for.

Sartre · 20/08/2026 10:37

I only recently read Spare after spotting it for a quid in a charity shop. I’ve always liked Harry and I did feel for him throughout the book. He’s obviously lead an incredibly privileged life in many ways which he broadly acknowledges but he has very much been tormented by the media since Diana passed. It was as if she left a huge royal shaped hole they decided to fill with him as soon as he came of age. The constant negative press about him, much of which was untrue or overblown. I wouldn’t want to live that way and he obviously had no choice in it.

I don’t, however, know why they’re returning to the UK. He ends the book on a positive note about their new life in the US and how happy they are. They’ve seemed pretty content and things have gone quiet for a couple of years really on the media front, haven’t heard much about them compared to before.

BeardofHagrid · 20/08/2026 10:38

I think it’s the beginning of their separation. I will be stunned if it isn’t.

He does and doesn’t speak fondly of his father. He mentions a major lack of affection and attention from him growing up, particularly following the death of Diana. He also discusses how he and Camilla would detract negative attention from themselves by spinning a story about William and Kate or Harry.

I’d be astonished if they were separating, why would she let her DC move to the UK with their dad if she was splitting from him?

I find it fascinating that anyone would think a Hollywood actor and a member of a royal dynasty (Princess Anne, excepted) would be anything OTHER than self-absorbed, entitled and entirely over-confident that the entire world revolves around them.

DonnabellaTook · 20/08/2026 10:43

They wanted privacy: but not really.
They wanted to be 'out': but not really.
I neither like, nor dislike them. I do not know them. However, I can observe and comment on their behaviour being as they are so infamous.

If Harold wants to return to his homeland and bring his wife and children, then he is free to do so. Superficially, it is an odd choice given the history surrounding them metaphorically storming off and slamming the door behind them and then publicly blasting his family and this nation such a mard-arse victim-mentality way. The public are therefore bound to speculate as to the reasons for the return especially given the gross hypocrisy around wanting 'privacy'.

Is it for grandad 'cos he's old and sick? Hmmm, they do have another grandad who is old and sick and who has never seen either of his grandchildren.
Is it because they are skint? Their sort of financially rich never becomes skint!
Is it to remain relevant?
Is it because they are concerned 'titles' will be removed from them and their children?
Is it to have the children educated within the English private schooling system?
Is it to ensure their children will have a British passport?
Is it to ensure financial/property inheritance from English grandad?
Is it because Harold aka Harry has no job and no purpose in the USA?
Is it because Rachel aka Meghan has no job in the USA and it would appear no purpose other then enjoying and exploiting her marital title?

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out ... but I do hope grandad Merkle gets to see his grandchildren before he dies. I also hope the children are not damaged by the pantomime that is the lives chosen by their parents.

Charles isn't likely to let them end up in a homeless shelter. Other than that I have no idea if they have any money but they do have assets, a house in California and according to something on breakfast TV this morning they also have a house in Portugal. I think they are ok

MyDpsanarse · 20/08/2026 09:53

@TheBlueKoala my first thought was they're running out of options and money. All this time Harry's been adamant he couldn't bring his family to even visit the UK without security, now his two DC are enrolled in school here from next month_ that's a hell of a change in attitute.

yes. Something has happened. I suspect Charles is more unwell than we know and he’s managed to convince Harry that security can be managed for his return, so they can spend time together.

usererror99 · 20/08/2026 10:52

personally I think Harry has finally grown some balls and told his wife that they are moving back and he’s done being her hanger on at the events she drags him to

coming back to England no way guarantees his children will keep their titles - I’d imagine within the first year of his reign William will have them removed

Kind of indifferent to them myself.

But, if you're going to present your private life through Netflix series, books and interviews, where you 'spill the beans' then you will get people acting like they know you.

And if you tell all like this and court publicity, then people will judge you.

You can't have it both ways.
