It’s autumn!

Okay, maybe not meteorological autumn yet, but it’s definitely in the air. There’s that cool edge to the breeze and it’s chilly in the morning and evening. After the long hot summer we’ve had it’s definitely needed!

AIBU to be excited?!

Is this irony or genuine?

Irony.

To be fair, the weekends are your own choice.

I hate the darkness but the heat has just been too much this summer. I’ve been ill with it, so I can’t be angry about it.

This time of year is my favourite. The late August days where we still have empty daylight for the days to feel long, warm days but chilly mornings and evenings, it’s maybe more acceptable to have a bowl of stew for dinner instead of some salad-y creation that nobody really likes. I always make an effort to go on holiday at this time of year too so I can really enjoy the September days when they come

Well, I guess we all do things for our children that aren’t necessarily how we’d choose to spend our weekends, but we do for our love of them.

This will be me I’m afraid. Autumn people have had to put up with months of summer people saying how fantastic it is that it’s been boiling hot with no rain since June so it’s only fair.

Summer is great. Autumn is too. Winter can get in the bin though. Dark, cold, drizzly looonnngg, boring, no money, depressing aaaaggghhhh. If we could just skip Jan - March that would suit me fine.

I don’t mind the weather cooling but I hate the dark mornings and early evenings, they really affect me in a negative way. I noticed it was darker than normal when I woke up and it made my heart sink 😕

Buy a SAD lamp. They replicate dawn light when you wake in the morning. Been proven to energise you and make you feel less depressed. It helps boost mood, increase energy levels, and regulate sleep cycles during darker winter months by triggering chemical changes in the brain. Now is the time to start using it. I bought a cheaper version that you have to switch on yourself when yiu wake but you can get some more expensive midels with timers and alarms.

10,000 lux is the minimum light intensity you should look for when shopping. 😄

I’m normally a summer lover but I’ll be honest even I have found this summer tricky.

i do snuggle under blankets in autumn though, if only to stop my cats kneading my t shirt. No hot chocolate as I’m lactose intolerant. I do love a good herbal tea though!

Thank you. Off to Amazon I go. I’ve been dreading it.
