I don’t use TikTok but ASMR is even on ads on tv now. The Bold Spring Awakenings one starts with whispering, then rustling sheets. It really, really annoys me.
There was a guy sitting beside me on the bus a while ago listening and watching videos of what seemed like toilets flushing. The world has gone mad.

I’ve had ASMR from a very young age, I’m 59, and can’t really remember a time when I didn’t have it. Before someone called it “ ASMR” I had no idea what to call it, or that other people got it too.

It is better if it happens naturally, but the videos are brilliant for lying on my bed, and getting totally relaxed, and almost in a trance, the feelings I get are amazing, so relaxing, I just put my earphones in, lie back and feel wonderful when it kicks in.

It has caused some minor issues, when I was at school for instance, the sound of the teacher, or the rustling of papers, used to make me feel so sleepy! At home though, it’s amazing. Please don’t mock a very innocent thing which makes people all over the world very happy.

😩 they should come with a trigger warning for those of us who dont enjoy it
