I dont need to hear what opening and closing your cupboards sounds like in HD! I dont need to hear you crunch your crisps! 😩😩

An ASMRless tiktok, its all i'm asking for!

Why would anyone with a functioning brain watch ANY 'hauls'?

You should give it a try. Might shift that pole up your arse.

Andylion · 12/08/2026 17:20

I don’t have TikTok, but I do have Instagram. And because I have 15 fucking scarves that I don’t know what to do with , I’ve googled “ how to tie a scarf” multiple times.
I really don’t need to have anyone wagging their finger at me telling me what not to do before they show me what I should be doing.

It’s interesting that, according to the post above, some people like ASMR because it relieves stress. It does the opposite for me and it makes me want tothrow my iPad across the room.

To help switch off our functioning brains after busy days or stressful periods. Or just - radical thought - for fun!

FeliciaFancybottom · 12/08/2026 17:23

Are people watching videos of other people cleaning? What in the Mr Muscle is that nonsense??

WearingBeautifulShoes · 12/08/2026 17:25

I know what ASMR is but I've never actually seen or heard it in my life. I don't understand how you just stumble upon it. Can't you just watch something else?

Nah you're alright. I'll go read a book, do some gardening, take a walk, cook something, talk to a neighbour. Any or all of those things. But you go right ahead and deaden your brain if that's your thing. 😖

terrifiedgran · 12/08/2026 17:28

Hauls?
You're looking at someone's shopping? Is that right?
Why is that a fun thing?
Think I might have misunderstood

QuintadosMalvados · 12/08/2026 17:34

Some of it is awful since a lot of content creators have jumped on the bandwagon but Whispersred and others are fantastic.

She's very motherly though glamorous with it.

Mistachio · 12/08/2026 17:35

You obviously aren’t lucky enough to have ASMR. In which case change your preferences and let the rest of us drift away into tingly bliss.

Amandatelly · 12/08/2026 17:52

hotmumshit · 12/08/2026 16:49

Just want to watch people's halloween/autumm/christmas hauls, without the sound of the paper tearing 😩

The sound of packing being opened on videos - even when they are just normal videos and not ASMR - makes my skin crawl. I really can’t bear it.

Same it feels icky and frankly very annoying!

When it originally became popular, I saw the appeal for those who like that kind of thing

But it really isnt all of us!!

Its in all the videos! Amplified everyday noises with someone unloading their sainsburys shop!

I literally have to scroll after a while as I physically cannot cope!

The only ASMR things I like are the AI generated ones of knives cutting through various glass fruit.
All the rest can fuck off. Nail tapping and whispering especially.

Omg speaking of ai

I loved this ai drama - 'the dons wife' - about some woman who was bullied and then marries the baddest don in all the land (argentina, i think)

He and their 5yo son take on the bullies - but it ends there and you have to pay to see more

Surely Ed Milliband doing ASMR videos should have instantly killed this off as a trend months ago?

Then don’t watch … simple!

Plump82 · 12/08/2026 19:53

I'd be lost without ASMR. I use it most nights to get to sleep. I don't watch it with any sound though, it's more a visual thing for me and I only watch makeup/facial ones. Also not on people doing their own makeup, needs to be someone putting it on another person!!

Echobelly · 12/08/2026 20:01

Set #asmr as a filter so you

It's odd because I watch lots of asmr on YouTube (only talking though like @Vroomfondleswaistcoat , I don't like mouth sounds, noises or nonsense word repetition stuff) but it's never been shown to me in Tiktok. I know they're different platforms but they do all seem to pick up each other's stuff!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/08/2026 20:12

One I couldn't watch was a woman on YouTube giving a commentary about Seriel Killers while putting on her make-up

These were real people who were killed . They had families and friends .
Have some fucking respect love .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/08/2026 20:12

And anyone who speaks with the awful Vocal Fry voice .
Straight to "off"

Waitingfordoggo · 12/08/2026 20:14

I don’t use TikTok. I think my life is quieter for it.

I wouldn’t want to listen to people’s noises. But I’m also not interested in people’s ‘hauls’. I despair at how the penny really hasn’t dropped re climate catastrophe for so many people 😫 STOP BUYING ENDLESS SHITE.

Thanks, as you were.

Paloa · 12/08/2026 20:15

Actual asmr is so relaxing. A lot of the more random stuff (crisps, cupboards etc) is engagement bait
(apologies from a social media video editor)
