AIBU to want to move house after falling over so spectacularly?

This morning I tripped over the doorframe, fell into the house, pulled the curtain pole down, broke two toes and ended up at the doctors with a cut on my leg that wouldn't stop bleeding. All this in front of the guys working on my house who witnessed me crying and swearing like a trooper. Also cried in front of the nurse. And the neighbours witnessed it all too. I have to move now don't I? Come and tell me your 'I fell over' tales of woe to make me feel better please.

I now say to my daughter “have you hurt your feelings or your body”?

You poor thing.
I have so many stories I have genuinely lost count.
I fell down a manhole as I wasn't looking where i was going.....twice....in my 20's.

Both involved a crowd and an ambulance.
Idiot.
Yours is very tame to be honest.

Hope you heal quickly.

Oh my god, people have actually died doing that, it happened twice? This is why if i see trip hazzards i report them to the council asap.

Not a fall but definitely a "I have to move moment". On a work call and find walking around helps me think. Was a bit warm so took off my jumper. Threw it behind me on to the sofa just as I walked past the living room window and realised my tee shirt had come off with it. I had a bra on, but a nude one so the neighbour who happened to look out of their window got a right eyeful.

Slipped and fell down a flight of slippy stone steps in a country park in the rain, while holding on to my 5 year old. He was absolutely fine, but I broke my wrist and ended up with an enormous black and blue bruise at the bottom of my back. Agony! Somehow managed to drive home straight after in excruciating pain, then when husband came home from work got him to take me to A&E. It’s a miracle the damage to my back was only bruising, could have been a lot worse. No one saw thankfully except my son, so even though I was injured my dignity remained relatively intact.

im sorry but I laughed at the part where your friend thought your head was the opposite way round, that must have scared her !

It really did scare her, she said it made her feel sick.

I was quite surprised, she used to be an A&E nurse, so it takes a lot to make her squeamish.

So did I but we didn’t often see wrong way round heads. 😂

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine so many wobbly ladies falling over left right and centre. Most importantly for my pride/vanity I did not 'have a fall'. I fell. Big difference! Bashed up limbs currently elevated. Curtain pole now back on wall. Just a dent in the bin where my head smacked into in to remind me of my embarrassment forever more!

Ouch OP 😫

I went and had my hair done - DH was taking me out for dinner that night as it was my birthday. On the way home, I was stupidly typing a text whilst walking along and continued whilst crossing the road (I did check for traffic at least). I tripped up the curb and went face first into a flint wall, smashing my sunglasses. A kindly nurse was driving by and pulled over to check I was ok. I was- just really embarrassed because obviously looking at your phone while walking along- and especially crossing a road- is just a really stupid thing to do. I had a black eye for my birthday meal that evening which wasn’t a great look and my lovely new hair was not enough to distract from my messy face. I was more annoyed about the sunglasses though- they were a great pair and I could never find the same style to replace them with.

Walking through Keswick, first day of camping holiday by the lake..some twat left a manhole cover oof and I disappeared like something out of a cartoon, down the hole, because I was looking at my Dad while chatting. Scraped shin to the bone, afternoon in waiting room in A& E and couldn’t go in the water during the holiday at all. Was the centre of attention when it happened though.
Annoyed to think, could sue nowadays but back then, it was, should have watched where you were going ..like everyone expects a hole in the road to the sewers

My first day in new job in London, Euston station, I went down like I’d been shot.
my stuff scattered, not one person helped me.
I got up, limped onto the train and looked down, the most expensive tights I’d ever owned had 2 massive holes in the knees. Tears were shed.

I fell on a day trip to London a lovely man and my husband helped me get up, only after thanking him and carrying on our way my husband said “where did you get the newspaper from?” I must have picked up the kind helpers paper he’d put down to help me up

I have fragile skin which tears easily and so I wear long sleeved blouses and trousers all the time. I went swimming last week, slipped on the shingle and created a 3" gash in the skin on my leg. DH had to run back up the beach to the car to get my antiseptic wipes, steri-strips and plasters from the car so I could mop up the blood and seal the wound on the beach in front of everyone.

DH went for another swim, slipped on the shingle, not even a graze. I now have swim trousers and a rash vest for the beach and am thinking that burkinis look rather fetching.

I am currently recovering from a fall, but I've decided I had a 'Final Destination' moment.

In April I was in Paris, and i fell off a really small curb. I went down like a sack of spuds and passed out twice. My right arm was black. I continued with the holiday, but when I continued being in pain I got an xray and I had a broken bone, but it wasn't displaced and it healed on its own.

Move on 4 months to 3 weeks ago, and as I left work I lost my footing on gravel and down I went. Same arm severely broken. Now recovering from a plate and 6 screws going in, plus my left leg badly damaged. I'm housebound at the moment.

I swear i was meant to do more damage in April and because I didn't, I had to do it again properly!

Was riding my horse and leading the kids over some dinky showjumps. At the end of the lesson, my instructor put the jump up and had me and my horse jump it. I was quite proud and we jumped it no problem.

I got off and turned to lead my horse back to his stable. I fell over his front foot and face planted the floor.

(Horse was fine- he just looked embarrassed.)

Love the idea of an embarrassed horse!!!

I popped over to a neighbours house while wearing huge Scooby Doo slippers. Came back to my house and my slipper caught the doorstep. I face planted the doorstep in what seemed like slow motion. Luckily I didn’t break my nose but It was a very painful fall. I never wore those slippers again! 😞

Have very weak ankles, came out of tescos in a very posh village ankle gave way (completly smooth pavement) the vodka gin red wine snd cava bottles I was buying for a party smashed. Lots of lovely people rushed to help but it was before noon on a Monday so I knew what they thought. Never been to that tescos again. Its cursed.

NormasArse · 15/08/2026 23:56

I think I fall more than I’m upright, to the extent that my GP surgery phoned to do a frailty test because I injure myself so often.

They asked whether I could dress myself, and whether I live alone.

unsync · 16/08/2026 00:19

Caught my heel in my dress hem coming down the grand staircase of a 5* hotel. Went down the stairs on my knees and arrived at the bottom in a heap. The cocktail bar was located at the foot of the staircase and it opened out into the dining room. Everyone could hear me coming down the stairs so they were all watching as I arrived. It was unbelievably painful. I managed to stand up, took a step towards the bar and ask for a Piña Colada.

I have many similar stories. I've been rescued by Japenese tourists on Picadilly, a Spanish professor in Milan, broken my toe at the gym - I've even fallen off my own door step.

Im a nurse and was at work one day and in the office with our extremely good looking consultant and we were going over some paper notes. He asked me for another set of notes. I turned around to get them and somehow tripped over a stool (one of those for reaching onto shelves, you see them a lot in shops). I ended up on the floor other side of the office. Fortunately the only thing hurt was my pride.

I was one of 2 staff members on a school trip, we went gorge walking, full wetsuit and bouyancy aid. I fell on a rock flat on my back, the bouyancy aid acted like a turtle shell and I was stuck on my back with my arms and legs flailing in the air. Had to be helped up by a group of teenagers!

Oh stop! So funny! Teenagers are actually lovely sometimes.

Me…at a local festival and they were showing “Grease” in the open air. I’m dressed up as Sandy, full pleather trousers, heels etc. Clearly thinking I’m looking like the dogs bollocks. Coming back from toilet, trip over a ground cable, fall flat on my face…not even onto my knees, just straight down in front of the whole audience. Not feeling quite so cool then.

Husband…on holiday…I have put the open suitcase on the floor in the bay window area (NB, I’m lazy…husband would have emptied, folded and packed case away neatly if it was his). It’s the bay window on DH side of the bed.

During the night he needs a wee do steps out of bed, catches leg on side of case, dramatically falls towards the window, grabs curtains…pole and curtains fall down on his head so he looks like he’s in a Punch and Judy show. He ends up sat on the floor, IN the case, curtains and pole on top of him. He’s farting out of shock so he’s like a naked, farting little gnome. All caused by me…and I’m literally crying with laughter

I’m crying with laughter too, the one where you don’t empty your case and your poor husband suffers the consequences 🤣🤣🤣

He stared at me, turned, and went to stand with my instructor. (He was the brains of the team.)
