I have been trying to sort some transport out from airport to hotel in our holiday destination this been India and before I even get a chance to give details such as dates etc the guy blurts out if not now come to India and get married. aibu in thinking this is rather unnecessary comment and rather random or am I been stupid by going elsewhere for my transport needs this conversation was over thier WhatsApp number.

I have no idea what you're on about.

YANBU. Go elsewhere for your transport needs.

Men make silly comments like that all the time. It's also India - rape capital of the world.

whatthesigma · 10/08/2026 08:00

I’m not sure what his comment is or what it means -

“if not now come to India and get married”

??

Unblushingly · 10/08/2026 08:10

Can’t the hotel send a taxi?

ColdAsAWitches · 10/08/2026 08:19

You're communicating with some randomer over Whatsapp. Ffs, use a proper company with an actual booking system.

🤷

Your post isn't the easiest to follow to be honest. It's one long sentence with random unconnected words.

But the gist seems to be someone has suggested you marry him while you are on holiday in India and you want to know whether you should use his transport to the hotel?

I would probably ask the hotel to recommend the best way to get to them from the airport.

Fatsnowflake · 10/08/2026 08:28

I think OP is trying to book a taxi and is communicating with someone over WhatsApp who has said she should come to India and get married. She's now wondering if this is strange and perhaps she should look elsewhere for transport.

yes but they are usually more expensive

I went to India in my late teens. So many of the people I interacted with asked me where my husband and kids were. Traditionally (though lesser now) single women are not typical.

BillieWiper · 10/08/2026 09:49

But what does it even mean? Are you not already in India? Tell him you're already married and that's incredibly unprofessional. And definitely don't get any transport through this person or company.

Sure, but you won’t be being engaged with weird banter by randoms on WhatsApp!

Pay a few more quid for the hotel taxi.
The end.

OriginalSkang · 10/08/2026 09:52

Oh, I thought it meant marry him. Can he see your whatsapp pic?

NerrSnerr · 10/08/2026 09:57

I have travelled in India and I would 100% do the taxi arranged from the hotel. At best you’ll be taken to a load of markets and shops on the way to the hotel to try and sell you stuff if you try and book a cheaper option and no one wants that when you’re exhausted.

swqa · 10/08/2026 09:57

What was your reply?

I'm assuming it was something like, "I'm sorry but why would you say that?"

I haven't replied just going elsewhere for my transport

It's still inappropriate. And my advice still stands.
