There are some really nasty comments on here - love that everyone commenting are so strong to not be scared of anything - must be nice! Why even engage if you haven’t got anything useful to add?

On which note - For the OP, I do understand how scary it is but - I think you need to get someone in to help if you can but you also may need to accept that it has probably found a way out and may not be there any more.

Use some peppermint spray around your windows and door frames and it will discourage them - and buy a spider catcher thing so you can catch them and put them outside if you see one again. It’s horrid to have to do when you are so scared but once you’ve done it once it gets easier.

You need to call your dad if you still have him and get him to search every nook and cranny until it’s found. This is what my dad did for me when a beast ran into my wardrobe he went though alll clothes until it was found!

Spiders are good for the ecosystem and in the UK wont hurt you . They aren't that big compared to you. You can honestly get help for phobias - London Zoo runs a session for people with phobias like this. Its very effective. Im sure other places do it too. Don't let it run your life to this extent.

Grown adults being scared of spiders is just so embarrassingly pathetic. They are harmless, it's not like living somewhere where tarantulas are running round. Do you show your children this ridiculous behaviour? I really hope not.
Just pick it up with a tissue and put it out of the window for crying out loud. The most it could do is tickle you a bit.

It will have disappeared, doing you a favour and hoovering up dead flies and bits around the place. Then it will reappear when you least expect it and jump scare your@ heart out of your body.
Time to get a spider catcher. There are ones like little pyramids with a sliding base and long handle. Along with my little hand shaped back scratcher I consider it one of my absolute best purchases.

OP, you need a spider catcher - google spider catcher on Amazon - the one you want is this one - “Insect Catching Tool, Bug Catcher Handheld, Portable Fly Spider Catcher, Insect Bug Catcher with Clear Window, Humanized Insect Trap for Children to catch-observe-release.” (Sorry, the link is miles long and it won’t let me C and P the picture.) It’s black and green. I got one for my DDs, who are manically afraid of spiders and they can manage it - you put it over the spider and slide the slider which closes the bottom, then you go outside and release it. End of spider problems.

We have soooo many spiders; I just smack with flyswat pick up body with loo paper, & flush down loo. Or the cat catches them 🤢 😆, yes he does!

Or if you're god's honest serious, get some help for you arachnophobia. Assuming you're in the UK that is. If you're in Oz all bets are off and my first advice stands.

It's an arachnid rather than a mammal but it's every bit an animal as a puppy is, or you yourself.

The suction wands are no good because, if you are an arachnophobe, the last thing you want to do is bring the spider closer to you.

Nor should you wish to hurt them because they are harmless creatures. The spider catcher shown just gently enfolds the spider in its bristles and you can release it outdoors.
