AIBU to be annoyed because I can’t find a “body double “

for context I’ve always been “heavy” for my dress size, and I’ve always been classified as “overweight” apart from a few months in my adult life.

now, the problem is that consensus says that:

a) people overestimate how “muscular” they are
b) people really only become denser (to account for the higher BMI) with heavy lifting.

either on social media or online communities (like Reddit) I seem to look substantially lighter than people with my height and weight (one person thought I had to be 10kg lighter).

I can’t fathom why can I find someone with my same stats, it’s not like I do anything particularly rare - I mostly do Pilates and running.

i just wish I could find someone that I saw and thought “yeah I look like her”.

For the record, I’m 1.59m, 64kg (which makes me overweight for my ethnicity) and I’m a size UK 8/6 And bizarrely sometimes even smaller (but I’m sure that’s vanity sizing!)

I do look toned (or like I workout) but not gym rat type.

5ft3 10st

I’m 5ft5, 64kg and a size 12. When I was a 6-8 I weighed approx 54kg. We’re all different.
I don’t understand how finding a ‘body double’ would help you. You look fit and healthy. What more do you need?

10 stone isn't 65kgs. Is it? I'm 55kgs I'm 5ft 2. I'm a size 8,sometimes I need a 10 for my thighs or boobs but I'm definitely a 8 waist. What's your waist to height ratio? I'm a 29 inch waist. The heaviest I've been is 75kgs and I was a good size 12 then.i was in a really bad head space then. I think finding your body double is like looking for your doppelganger, you'll probably never find her. What you need to focus on is that you are eating the right foods, getting the right nutrients and protein etc. I weight train and do hyrox. Sometime my weight fluctuates a wee bit but I can lose it easily. I think you have a fab figure. Carrying all your weight round your middle is not good for your health and it definitely doesn't look like you are doing that.

lightseeker · 06/08/2026 16:48

I still don't see the point of this thread OP - your 'explanations' make it more confusing. Why do you need a 'body double?' The only people who have these are in Hollywood movies!

If you are 5 ft 3 and 10 stone, and you feel fine, what's the problem? Your exact height and shape combo are always going to be unique to you.

I don't think you look overweight, no. However, you are not the sort of person with a distinct waist that curves in from the hips, you're more of square shape I'd say, but your mid section does not look fat. I think they say your waist should be less than half your height?

LaurieFairyCake · 06/08/2026 16:54

I concur that your body’s a weirdo 😂 and you must be very solidly built to be ‘overweight’ as I’m 4 inches shorter than you, more than 20 kilos less than you and we are 100% body twins as I’m a size 6.

our legs look really really similar

Stayinganontoday · 06/08/2026 11:47

I know I don’t look overweight! But I know there’s a massive disconnect to how I look and how a lot of people with my stats look like.

I’m not sure why this matters? What is the need for a body double? Why are you so bizarrely obsessed with your weight/looks?

cantsleepneedsleep · 06/08/2026 17:05

Shape, skeleton & proportions mean people look different at the same weight.

You don’t look that thin… you don’t really have a particularly small waist so I’d say you’re likely just broad across the torso - ribs, waist, hips. And that’s where your weight sits rather than arms and legs.

A size 6 is meant to be a 24/25inch waist.

10 stone is 63kg

Edited

Yes and my waist is 26in which is why I’m not necessarily a size 6, just sometimes I fit in one.

If you find your body double… then what? How does it help you?

YourJadeTraybake · 06/08/2026 17:15

Your BMI would be only just over 25 so only marginally over the healthy range (although you suggest this may be lower for your ethnicity that wouldn't make you look bigger or take a bigger size)

The weight and height you have stated aren't unbelievable based on your pictures and you look fine, if you are concerned about diabetes ect a doctor may be able to help advise if you may be under or over weight for specific health concerns but you do not look abnormal in those pictures

Like I said, I’d hope I’d be able to see their fluctuations because I’m definitely blind to mine unless I weight myself.

You're a size 8 - you're not overweight.

Hope that helps

There’s a website called My Body Gallery where you can search for pictures of your height and weight.

I’ve no idea why you’d want to or why this matters.

I put my stats in out of curiosity and it says there’s no photo matches 😂 my stats are fairly standard, I’m baffled as to how there are no matches!

SheWillBeTheDeathOfMe · 06/08/2026 17:23

I weigh heavy too OP, I can be above the middle of healthy bmi range abd have a very gaunt face and you can see the top of my rib cage like a chicken carcass above my boobs. I do carry my weight on my legs though. I think I must have heavy bones and I build muscle easily, meaning I get slight abs and great obliques quite easily but also big thigh muscles which push out the stubborn fat even further.

I think you look great btw, but I know you are not asking for reassurance on that front

YoQuieroVino · 06/08/2026 17:26

So you want them to send you updated pictures every time they gain or lose some weight?
And then what? How will it affect what you do/don’t do?

im very happy with my fitness goals. Besides I’m not a “gym person” I’m an endurance athlete so the goals are very different.

Still need to consider bone density as you age though so need to lift/ more resistance. If you've been on hrt, that means you're at least perimenopausal

Not the topic you started but.....

Stayinganontoday · 06/08/2026 11:51

Well it kind of does because I feel I can create reverse body dysmorphia in the sense that I think I look a lot fitter than I do.

and the biggest problem is my whole family is plagued with weight related issues (diabetes, hypertension ) and my daughter is insulin resistant.

You do look very fit. You are incredibly muscular.

Maybe get an oura ring to check your vitals? If they’re good, you’re absolutely fine and don’t need to lose anything. Also get your blood sugar checked.

Marroon · 06/08/2026 17:27

A size 6/8 at 10stone and 5”3 seems slightly off. I’m 5”2 and 7.5 stone and comfortably an 8.

I don’t understand what you’re looking for, why would you need a body double in the first place? Is a size 8 really so rare??

SheWillBeTheDeathOfMe · 06/08/2026 17:29

Fucking hell, I just went on to My Body Gallery and found a pic of myself that I have no memory of posting. Maybe I did, I definitely uploaded it to Team RH when I was on that plan. It has the wrong waist measurement and shirt size and it wasn’t at the end of one of my many fitness journeys

Well because I suffer from chronic iron deficiency the Hb1Ac tends to give false positives (has happened in the past and they sent me to Weight Watchers).

If I were to focus on my “healthy” zone I would be too skinny.
im very pleased with how I feel and look.

Then why do you need a body double? If you're happy with the way you look and consider yourself fit and healthy, whatever are you seeking?

So you want to Ger in contact with someone who will send you Body images every time they lose or gain weight.

you can’t be serious.

EmpressStorm · 06/08/2026 18:09

By the way op, not to be pedantic, but you’ve written it a few times, it’s weigh yourself, not weight your self.

Dogwendot · 06/08/2026 18:13

I'm 66kg and 164cm tall. I wear 32FF bra so my breasts must add a bit of weight and bulk but my back is narrow. I wear a size 12.
