AIBU to be annoyed because I can’t find a “body double “

for context I’ve always been “heavy” for my dress size, and I’ve always been classified as “overweight” apart from a few months in my adult life.

now, the problem is that consensus says that:

a) people overestimate how “muscular” they are
b) people really only become denser (to account for the higher BMI) with heavy lifting.

either on social media or online communities (like Reddit) I seem to look substantially lighter than people with my height and weight (one person thought I had to be 10kg lighter).

I can’t fathom why can I find someone with my same stats, it’s not like I do anything particularly rare - I mostly do Pilates and running.

i just wish I could find someone that I saw and thought “yeah I look like her”.

For the record, I’m 1.59m, 64kg (which makes me overweight for my ethnicity) and I’m a size UK 8/6 And bizarrely sometimes even smaller (but I’m sure that’s vanity sizing!)

I do look toned (or like I workout) but not gym rat type.

You look very slim for those stats. I am the same height, weigh 7 pounds more and am a size 14 on a good day. I have very little muscle though, and am flabby rather than toned.

JackieGoodman · 06/08/2026 14:05

You don't look very hourglass so I'm surprised by your measurements, definitely more of a rectangle look (as a fellow rectangle Grin). I'm similar weight but several inches taller, and usually wear size 12/14 (but dislike tight or stretchy clothes) not muscular at all, skinny legs, which I need to work on.

You could go to My Body Gallery and put in your stats, but I'd be selecting rectangle as body shape. You'd probably find people who look similar.

Tbh you're fit, healthy, so absolutely fine Smile.

Believe it or not I’m not asking for reassurance I’m very aware I don’t look overweight, I don’t need people to tell me I don’t.

but what has happened in the past is that I feel / look OK in my head and I gradually gain weight until it’s a lot more than I’d be comfortable with, and that I think potentially is unhealthy.

i genuinely cannot trust just by “feel” so I do need to weight myself as sad as that is.

however if I were to find someone with my stats then I would be able to see the fluctuations more easily

I’m sorry I don’t get thay at all, how would you see the fluctuations on someone else.

EmpressStorm · 06/08/2026 14:27

Not really it’s more a matter that I don’t have a full
length mirror that isn’t either at an angle or that has enough space to take a full length picture

Yes I’d say you e a long torso and shorter legs and carry more weight in your thighs, you can see it side on. You’re never going to find someone with your body proportions height and weight and then track their body fluctuating with weight changes,

honestly it’s very bizzare to even want to,

Wishimaywishimight · 06/08/2026 14:37

Your waist is 25 inches? It really doesn't look like it in that photo.

There’s a website that shows people of your same weight and height.
Can’t remember what it’s called now but I can look it up later.

Yeah somebody mentioned it (which I’ve used in the past. If I remove my waist measurement and put me in as a triangle I definitely can see some ladies with similar (albeit slightly less athletic) bodies.

Look up the Hercules gene

I'm like you, similar stats, always been heavy for my size, it was seeing my child develop that sent me searching for answers

This gene "defect" means lacking the protein that tells muscle to stop growing. You end up being significantly more dense physically, hence, heavy. In my case it also explains why I bounce without breaking bones

Might not be you, but worth a look

fivepenny · 06/08/2026 14:50

Looking at you, you seem to have a larger squarer build but you are quite short so are over all lighter. You are only about 10 stone so I don't think your weight vs appearance is too out of the ordinary.

Savvysix1984 · 06/08/2026 14:51

I’m your height and just 4lbs more. I’ve just looked at recent full length photos and I’d say that your frame is broader than mine especially around the shoulders and your legs are slimmer. I wear a 10, sometimes an 8 in certain dresses.

you have a lovely figure. You look healthy and toned. Try not to overthink it. Everybody is different.

Oh you aren’t overweight. The measurements you gave earlier were 10st 1 and 5ft 2. At 10st and 5 3 you are in the normal range bmi

For her ethnicity she is.

That’s interesting as I’ve never broken a bone (and I’ve had a few accidents) and regardless of my running mileage I’ve never been injured. I’ll look it up!

That mutation is very, very rare in humans. From what OP says and looking at her pics I don't think she has it.

I am 5"2 and 9st 9lb (I was 10st 2 until going on a diet in May)! so not far off.

ETA I've never broken a bone either despite situations many a time when I probably 'should' have broken something. However unlike you the cartilage has gone in my knees from years of running. I am 44 now and one of them went in my mid-thirties.

Your thigh muscles in that picture look a lot like mine did when I was a similar size/weight to you. I honestly think it's just your body composition. Your thighs are more muscle than fat and you'll be heavier, for that reason, than someone the same size whose thighs are more fat than muscle.

lulubalu · 06/08/2026 15:24

What is the actual issue that's bothering you? Is it that you're overweight?

Because I can't see why the body double thing is necessary, nor why it matters if people think you weigh less than you do (better 10kg less than thinking you're 10kg heavier surely?)

I'm roughly your height and weigh around 50-52kg, my belly & bust are bigger than yours and I have a more defined waist. I'm size 8ish depending on outlet so yes I'm surprised given your stats that you're in an 8-10 if you weight 64kg but as I said earlier why is it bothering you?

AnonyMumAuDHD · 06/08/2026 15:32

Is this about you wanting to find a way to post a [fake] pictures to voy etc - or something - so you can continue taking mounjaro, because you think you are 15lbs over weight, when the photo evidence says you are not? [See other threads]

If you ‘weigh heavy’ for your height/ build, then you are simply someone with dense bones and high muscle ratio. I am too. I am a size 10, 5ft5 and yet weigh 10st 10 on a good day. BMI is 24.9. I look smaller. I don’t run or weight train or do anything, just walk the dogs and do housework - though I was sportier in my 20s. I have friends my dress size/height who are 1-1.5 stone lighter - generally less muscular/fleshy and finer bone set; they have a longer torso compared to me; I have longer limbs and boobs. Pumping our height and weight into a body double generating AI thing would not get anything that represented any of us accurately.

You mention you run and monitor your athletic performance and HR in other threads, so you ARE athletic and doing exercise that promotes muscle building, just not the type that leads to bulking.

Gently, can I suggest you spend less time ruminating over your dimensions, weight, HR and the effect upon the latter caused by taking WLI that you clearly do not need - and go and chat to a GP about your unhealthy obsession with it all? You need counselling, imho, not a body double.

DonaldWheresMaTweezers · 06/08/2026 15:34

You have a small frame - it's as simple as that, I think. If your bones are naturally small, you will take smaller dress sizes than someone who has the same percentage of body fat but spread out over larger bones.

If you had a row of skeletons and a tape measure, each one would measure differently independent of fat and muscle. Your skeleton would measure small.

You mention you are overweight for your ethnicity - I would concentrate on being in a healthy BMI zone and not worry about dress size, which is inconsistent no matter what your weight and build. Your health is the most important thing, not your dress size or opinions on others about what weight you might appear to be.

No, I actually said I was glad to not have to take it again. I only had to take it because of HRT (and the side effects it gave me).

Now, we runners (and many other sports people) do obsess over metrics. There’s so many threads on our specialised forums on VO2 max or HRV or RHR… if anything I reckon we obsess more over that, than our diets!

If I were to focus on my “healthy” zone I would be too skinny.
im very pleased with how I feel and look.

It’s because you’re very straight up and down the weight is evenly distributed. If you had a smaller waist then more weight would be on hips for example. This is probably the why you’re struggling to find another woman with the same stats that looks like you. You’re obviously very healthy and fit so surely that’s what counts anyway?

No, some runners obsess over metrics.
I have been running all my life (when nutrition was called food and hydration was called 'having a drink').
My Garmin tells me what my VO2 max is but I am sure it is very inaccurate.
I'm not sure what HRV is (I will look in up), an interest in RHR is hardly the preserve of athletes, it's a standard physiological measurement. I also do not obsess about my diet. I think you are wandering around in echo chambers.
If you enjoy your exercise, eat well etc then maybe just get on with it for a bit - it can be really refreshing.
