What can I spend my new fortune on?

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 05/08/2026 16:09

My ex paid very little child maintenance. Was on the fiddle with his boss to only pay £5 a week. He had over £2000 arrears.
Additionally, no one has set eyes on this piece of 💩in over 10 years including his children. I seriously considered that he may have died during COVID.
I am a petty bitch so wouldn’t let the the CMS close my account when my son turned 19. This morning I received a text to say a payment had been made to my account.
£15.65 a month will be paid to me starting this month. It will take him 10 years to pay off the arrears, I will be retired by the time it is cleared, he will be 70.
I would have loved to have seen his face when he saw the benefit reduction due to CMS arrears. Every month, I am going to spend that £15 on something ridiculous- suggestions please!

Not that I want to encourage gambling but Lottery Tickets might be a good shout.
You might end up really making a fortune which I''m sure would sicken him.

Stick it in a s&s ISA until the arrears are paid off, should have accrued enough for a decent holiday by then!

A solid idea, I may move to this eventually. I saw somewhere that you could buy a cockroach, name it as your ex and have it fed to animals at a zoo, think it was in the US though…

Something by Natoora from Ocado. They have a melon for £7.90. You could get a couple of those.

£500 per kilo matcha tea

Good & Proper House Matcha - Ocado

Fancy cheese.

Sanguedolce Smoked Cow's Milk Mozzarella Scamorza - Ocado
Brindisa 1605 Manchego - Ocado

Or if you shop in person, go to the cheese counter, look for the one with the highest price per kilo and ask the cheese counter person for £15.65 worth of that cheese. Congratulate them if they get it spot on and marvel together at how small a piece of £15.65 of artisan cheese is.

Yes, I was going to suggest premium bonds too ! You might win big, and you still have the money in the end.

Darragon · 05/08/2026 16:37

Gosh OP how will you spend so much in one go? Lamborghini (Hot Wheels)? Posh crisps? A really massive salad?

Brindisa Torres Black Truffle Crisps - Ocado 3 bags of these.

Those big dinner salads from Pret are about £15 aren't they?

Sushi, no sashimi. £15 of nicely sliced salmon will look ridiculously small. Especially if you offer it to a 19 YO as dinner.

QuintadosMalvados · 05/08/2026 16:49

Take yourself and a friend for two Big Mac meals at McDonald's.
You can go large.

Oh you're asking for ridiculous suggestions. Sorry.

This is absolutely hilarious to me. I wonder if you could pay extra to have them video it. 😂

KojaksLollipop · 05/08/2026 16:50

Loads of men complain their money is just getting spent on their exes getting their nails done, so do that at least once!

A meal with your kid every few months.

Isitevensummer · 05/08/2026 17:02

Is there anything he hated you doing? Like, if it was make up or painting your nails, I would do that. If he complained about you buying too many books or magazines, I would buy them. Or save it up and go on a lovely weekend break.

BauhausOfEliott · 05/08/2026 17:08

Ideally you should definitely have the joy of spending it on something ridiculous and frivolous that you will genuinely appreciate and enjoy. But if you can't think something every month, you could always make the odd donation to a charity you know he'd hate. Years ago, I once won £20 from a man who was very pro-hunting and pro-shooting (long story) and I made a point of giving it to the League Against Cruel Sports. And telling him.

diddl · 05/08/2026 17:09

Sorry to derail but it's bloody laughable.

That's not even the fiver a week that he was paying before!

How on earth do they set such a paltry amount?

FIoorboard · 05/08/2026 17:14

Every month, just after the payment comes in with the message 'I wanted you to share the excitement'.
