No reputable dispenser is going to prescribe Mounjaro for someone with a BMI around 25. 1 stone overweight is not considered obese. I understand that you feel depressed about it but I think you’re being too hard on yourself. You also have to realise that once you hit your 50s onwards, not only does losing weight get much harder but your body shape invariably changes, body fat accumulates around the stomach etc.
i have lost over 5 stone on Mounjaro - I’m only 5ft 4 so I was very overweight with a BMI around 36. I’m now just over 10 stone, which is actually still at the upper end of where I should be for my height. In fact, I was a bit dis-spirited when I told my GP my BMI had gone down to 25.2 a few months ago and she said that if she not-picking, it was should be below 25!
I’m thrilled with my weight loss, HOWEVER, I still have a fat stomach and fat things and although I can see that I look much slimmer, I don’t look slim because I’m mid-50s and that’s just not going to happen. For me, the large weight loss has also left me with loose skin round my stomach, very wobbly bat wings and jowls under my chin which really get me down (the double chin I had when I was overweight didn’t look as bad as the jowls do now 😞).
BUT overall, I’m really happy with my big weight loss, both because it has improved my self esteem and because I know it has improved my health considerably. BP has honestly from borderline high to slap-bang in the mid normal range.
I’m maintaining now, and whilst I could obsess about losing a few more lbs to be exactly within the healthy weight range, I’m not going to beat myself up over it, as I’ve come so far. I think it’s important to be at peace with your middle-aged body and accept that you’ll never have the body of a lithe 25 year old.
