Who is your unusual crush?

Who do you find attractive but they're perhaps not attractive in a conventional way?

I'll start with David Baddiel. Something about him. His facial hair is sexy. He did a series cycling round France with Hugh Dennis (who I also have a crush on) and the pair of them were a joy to watch. Witty and intelligent. He's also fiercely proud of his Jewish heritage.

That is the funniest thing I’ve read in ages!
😂😂😂
Clearly we’re of the same vintage…

Esme is a little short to be Mrs Slocombe but maybe there was some subconscious echo in the casting bods brain...

He was quite good-looking when he was younger....

So was Joseph Stalin...😂

So re Sean Bean - I once met someone who had met him in person. & they said do not underestimate how photogenic Sean Bean is. He's really really photogenic. . Make of that what you will

I'm going to throw my hat in with Charlie Ireland as well. Don't know why - but he is appealing.

Ah, but I saw him twenty years ago in his nephew's chip shop, and can confirm he was bloody gorgeous IRL.

My sister scoffed at the idea that just because I went to Sheffield I imagined I saw Sean Bean, but it was only afterwards I found out his nephew owned the chippy.

(I think the chippy has closed now, but it unashamedly had a TV playing Sharpe on repeat, and there was a menu which had Beans with every possible item like the Spam cafe 😂)

David Rasche, who played Sledge Hammer, he's 81, and I still think he's drop-dead gorgeous!

Bill Oberst Jr., who has appeared in various films/tv etc. He's 60, quietly spoken, and loves nature and animals.

Martin Clunes. Julie Walters. Waylon Jennings.

I'm ashamed to admit it as political I'm centre left but I find Jacob Rees Mogg strangely attractive, I think it's the voice...

I'm now going to die of embarrassment..

I think he’d be filthy in bed.

Everyone fancied him when Sharpe was on tv. He was gorgeous then.

Did you see him as Mellors in the tv adaptation of Lady Chatterley?

Woodwanderer · 04/08/2026 10:06

Mark Knopfler, nice kind smile

MrsShawnHatosy · 04/08/2026 10:21

Sam Warburton. May not be classically handsome but he’s got something. And a lovely bloke too.

NattyRedFinch · 04/08/2026 12:29

I always wonder how these guys ever get laid, but there are obviously people out there!!!!

MatriarchCaz · 04/08/2026 12:32

Gene Hunt from Life on Mars.
Brandon Lee with all his make up in The Crow.
Ricky Gervais.

Everyone fancied Sean Bean when he was in Sharpe - o thought that’s what launched his career no?? I could be wrong.

IsThisNameTaken · 04/08/2026 12:45

Jay Rayner - we'd go our for some great meals

He was very attractive as Romeo at some point in the late 80s at the RSC -- even wearing a dreadful white, baggy-trousered 80s suit and bouffant hair. Opposite Niamh Cusack.

Dean Gaffney

Also Anthony Hopkins - even though he’s old enough to be my grandad

I am here for this

DCS Foyle, as already mentioned but not necessarily Michael Kitchen. Also Endeavour, but not Shaun Evans.

Plus Monty Don.

Totally agree about Endeavour Morse played by John Thaw, he was a wonderful actor, much as I loved the prequal series with Shaun Evans I could never see him as Morse.
In '66 I quite liked the German footballer Helmut Haller, even when he scored the equaliser in the WC Final.

PetulaGordeno · 04/08/2026 14:47

John Thaw as Morse. I was at Uni when it first came out and thought he was fabulous. Now I’m getting older I realise how young he was when he died.
Loved him even more in Kavanagh QC.

MrsShawnHatosy · 04/08/2026 14:47

I’ve been watching Succession recently and think Brian Cox (the actor not the astronomer) is still an attractive man.

AInightingale · 04/08/2026 15:12

Many of these are older men. When I was about 20, I thought Dave Allen (the Irish comedian) was the most handsome man I'd ever seen!

Good shout. He was very attractive in an 'older man' sort of way

Ed Balls too

Ed Balls doesn't do it for me, but I get it. He has beautiful eyes. And on that programme where he travelled round America he whipped up a pretty good cheese soufflé.

AlwaysExtraHot · 04/08/2026 17:10

That's not a euphemism about the soufflé Grin

outerspacepotato · 04/08/2026 17:10

Steve Buscemi. Otherworldly eyes, former firefighter, seems interesting.

JMSA · 04/08/2026 01:12

No idea why, but Martin Clunes has always reminded me of Pob.

Because they look astonishingly alike! I've always thought so too.
