Who is your unusual crush?

Who do you find attractive but they're perhaps not attractive in a conventional way?

I'll start with David Baddiel. Something about him. His facial hair is sexy. He did a series cycling round France with Hugh Dennis (who I also have a crush on) and the pair of them were a joy to watch. Witty and intelligent. He's also fiercely proud of his Jewish heritage.

So re Sean Bean - I once met someone who had met him in person. & they said do not underestimate how photogenic Sean Bean is. He's really really photogenic. . Make of that what you will

I'm going to throw my hat in with Charlie Ireland as well. Don't know why - but he is appealing.

Wiseplumnet · 03/08/2026 23:44

John Simm , especially in the series ' The Lake' in the late 90s.

Wiseplumnet · 03/08/2026 23:51

Ed Balls too

revenant · 04/08/2026 00:01

Martin Short

julesagain · 04/08/2026 00:04

Ed Ball for me too, it's the twinkle in his eye and a sort of half smile that does it for me.

girljulian · 04/08/2026 00:14

Stephen Fry. I melt.

Haven't RTFT but has anyone mentioned Peter Firth in Spooks?

Yes, @Coffeebeforework — everyone else was in it for Matthew McFadyen and Rupert Penry-Jones, but Harry was much the sexiest.

These threads are always the same. And it fascinates me...
I've come to realise over the years that there is no such thing as an 'unusual' crush for women, really, yet so many of us seem to think we're odd if we fancy Louis Theroux (who ALWAYS appears on threads like these!). Conventional physical attractiveness is clearly lower down the list of priorities for a decent proportion of women than some assume.

It's interesting that comedians are always well-represented on these threads - clearly a lot of us like a man that can make us laugh. Also, politicians - perceived power maybe?

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 04/08/2026 01:04

Ed Byrne the comedian. Something about those glasses and his horrible fashion sense. Which is weird because one thing I like about my DH and that I noticed about him first was that he is well dressed.

I’ve been to see him live a few times at the Fringe, once with my ex and twice with DH. My ex threw a proper little hissy fit after. Stormed off after the show.. genuinely you’d have thought I’d cheated on him. DH was just a bit bitter and did loudly remind me “you know he’s married right? and more importantly you’re married?” 🙄🙄 don’t I know it pal. I feel like I should say, I go and see a lot of stand up I don’t just bring men I’m dating to watch comedians I fancy to watch them squirm.

ELDV · 04/08/2026 01:12

Harry Hill. He cracks me up on Junior Bake-Off and I love how tongue in cheek he is.

JMSA · 04/08/2026 01:12

No idea why, but Martin Clunes has always reminded me of Pob.

Some of these have got me crying - whoever said Princess Anne I take my hat off to you 😂😂😂

I always thought I’d say Stephen Graham but I think based on some of the responses on this thread so far that’s way too mainstream.

So my offering is…

Alan Ford as Brick Top in Snatch.

There, I said it

Eeewwwwww!

that’s the first one thats made me 🤢 a little 😂

He was quite good-looking when he was younger....

As if? You’re talking absolute rubbish 🤩

The "real" person who is Count Binface is a University Graduate from Oxford.

I have only seen one picture of him and he's quite nice-looking...

Sean Bean

Everyone fancied him when Sharpe was on tv. He was gorgeous then.

Clearly we’re of the same vintage…
