To ask what age you started cosmetic procedures?

If you have botox, fillers, have had surgical procedures, threads etc.
I'm 35 and have been having crows' feet Botox once or twice a year for a few years, and I've had nasolabial fold filler twice. This seems to be ok for now, I'm trying to hold off on anything else for as long as possible due to cost and not wanting too much maintenance and upkeep with it all.
Eventually I'm sure I'll start to need more though, I know I'm still young and I'm using spf 50 and retinol currently.

So just wondered what sort of age you noticed the biggest changes and started anti ageing treatments? Please no judgement, I know it isn't for everyone.

I started with Botox at about 40 with my 11s and had it semi-regularly ever since - so just over 20 years. Last time was about 9 months ago, so could do with a touch up.
Lip fillers once - I loved it, but best friend said no - tiny amount but she said it looked fake.
I look pretty good for my age, but lower face and neck is going to hell in a hand basket, so I’m planning a deep plane facelift and neck lift.
And haters are gonna hate - zero fucks given. I’d like my face to match my mental and physical age 🤣

Early 40s which was spot on for me. I'd gone in my late 30s and got turned away as they said I didn't need it which was very nice!

I have botox once or twice a year. Happy with that.

Tried fillers once (very tiny dose), didn't like it.

It's all down to where you go/who does it. Mine has always looked very natural, despite what the doubters say. I aim to keep it that way. Just takes the edge off.

Also it's very expensive and that is all I can realistically afford.

You don't look old enough to have a 15 year old? Really?

Maybe it’s where she lives/social circle. In my child’s class, the age of a first time parent varies between 34-48 (average late 30s). If someone told me they had a 15yr old I would expect them to be about 55, so she probably doesn’t look 55!

Jackreacherstrousers · 01/08/2026 10:37

I have Botox in my forehead and crows feet every 6 months, I'm 59 and I started late at 57😳
Last year I started polynucleotides under my eyes and skin boosters. I think I look more refreshed but still like me....I will continue to have tweakments as they definitely improve my skin and I look less tired

Girlintheframe · 01/08/2026 10:38

Started Botox at 45. The biggest changes to my face and ageing for me were 45-50, felt like I aged a lot in those years despite nothing really changing except obs the passage of time.

Blanketyblank04 · 01/08/2026 10:39

I had Botox once at 55. I’m lucky as not too many wrinkles but I have the elevens frown. Whilst it froze that bit, I hadn’t realised it wouldn’t completed erase the two single creases in my skin. Apparently, it’s used as a preventative so clearly I was 20 years too late! Anyway, I wouldn’t do it again as I have more important things to spend my money on and whilst my face is ageing and I don’t look 35 anymore, I still like the fact it’s me but a bit older. Also, what is the point of having a smooth face when you have the beginnings of a crepey neck? At some point, it all catches up with you. I would prefer to treat the inside - water, sleep, less alcohol and exercise. I would never knock anyone who has it done, each to their own.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 01/08/2026 10:42

Almost 60 and never. I look in the mirror and see me getting older and I’m fine with it. I am getting older. I wear make up, get my hair done and care about what I wear. I might even get a manicure if I’m going somewhere special.

But I’m also old enough to remember when silicone implants were deemed safe, until they weren’t. That was enough to put me off getting anything done for life.

I do wonder what the long term impact of having Botox and fillers will be. They all have to be broken down. How do bodies cope with that? What will those who’ve had Botox, fillers, weight loss and contraceptive jabs be facing down the line? So many chemicals being pumped into, mainly women’s, bodies that shouldn’t be there.

Muffsies · 01/08/2026 10:43

I was 44 when i got Tixel (skin resufacing treatment similar to fraxel laser, it has to be done by a dermatologist) for acne scarring. I had fillers at 48, and i'm going back for another tixel treatment but this time to improve skin texture due to aging (which underlying acne scarring has accelerated). I have just used fillers where i've lost volume due to the cystic scarring, it has worked really well. My aim was to remove the effects of 20 years of acne, and restore what it damaged in as natural way as possible.

I don't want to do lip fillers or botox bc i don't like that look, they've shown me all the before and afters and it never looks natural. I have left my laughter lines around my eyes bc i think they look natural and nice, if you go too hard to remove lines it changes your face, not just the lines. The worst is forehead botox, it can do really weird and unnatural things to your brows, plus i LOVE frowning.

nam3c4ang3 · 01/08/2026 10:45

I have Botox done to help my gummy smile - started at 40. Feel a lot more confident (I’ve never liked my smile) do it once a year in June/July.

SilveryBear · 01/08/2026 10:46

Lilypad34 · 01/08/2026 09:01

I started having Botox at 35 for my 11’s because I squint apparently, I was getting concerned about my sagging jawline etc but didn’t want to have fillers so I tried doing the DAO and Masseter muscle massage at night thinking it was probably a load of crap but 3 weeks in and oddly my jawline is better and my nasolabial folds are looking much better. I also use a ziip halo so hopefully I won’t want anything else done to my face. I’m almost 50.

@Lilypad34 - can you tell me more about the DAO and Masseter muscle massage you’ve been doing please. As I’m also worried about my jawline. Thanks!

DinoLil · 01/08/2026 10:50

I'm 54. No procedures here.

Melograno · 01/08/2026 10:52

MsIceSandwich · 01/08/2026 08:41

I'm 57 and haven't had anything done, I scrub my face with a brillo pad once a month and slather on lard religiously every morning. I often get stopped in the street and asked if my mammy knows I'm out alone.
I really don't need treatments.

🤣🤣🤣

Ginmonkeyagain · 01/08/2026 10:58

Im 48 and the idea of botox, fillers or surgery hasn't really occured to me. I have used decent quality skin care and factor 50 since my late twenties and have used retinol since I was 40, so I am not a "wash my face with water and use Nivea once a week" type.

I simply do not think that fillers or botox would make me look any better or younger. I don't really mind looking 48, I mean I am 48. I am also rather wary of deliberately paralysing my facial muscles.

I do think there is some sort of conspiracy of silence around the ever increasing march of cosmetic treatments. I remember as a child being told not to stare at old women who were friends of my grandparents, as they were often slathered in thick clownlike masks of make up (I assume they thought they still looked like the well made up 40s bombshells of their youth). It feels like the same now with some celebs.

I mean have you seen Madonna lately- her face looks like somene drew eyes and lips on a balloon.

CatrionaBalfour · 01/08/2026 09:12

People asked why you were scowling? This makes me so cross. They wouldn't ask a man!
Why do we, girls and women, always have to be smiley? That's not a criticism of you getting cosmetic procedures, but societal expectations of girls and women.

I dunno, it came from women too. I think sometimes it was just concern, like they thought I was upset about something. But yeah, I've also had my share of men who go around telling women to look pretty for them, and they are ghastly. May their itches always be unreachable.

Melograno · 01/08/2026 11:01

59,never, tret, sunscreen, water, teetotal, exercise, eat cheese

I know women who started in their late 30s/ early 40s with botox and they end up in a spiral trying to keep up
Imho its a trap to keep you shelling out, they have wierd flatness that means they then turn to fillers= puffy face , then its dissolved or it shifts and looks odd
Of course their " lady" tells them they look refreshed
Their money their face though
There is also a very specific lack of confidence that shows, always
Ive left well alone, have a very slack jawline and neck, chuck a scarf on and get on with it

SilveryBear · 01/08/2026 11:01

Has anyone had anything done for their Marionette lines? If so, what? This is what is bothering me most and what I’d like to sort out.

blankcanvas3 · 01/08/2026 11:02

Started botox at 30, but I can still move my face. Had a nose job when I was pretty young as I hated my nose, and then had upper bleph surgery a few years ago (it’s very subtle). I have regular facials and micro needling, use retinol and azaleic acid daily, SPF50 always. I drink a lot of water, eat well, and work out 5 days a week. And shockingly, I don’t have low self esteem and never have!

I have had Sculptra. Then in a few weeks, will have a little filler. I am 60 and want to maintain a natural look.

As is absolutely your prerogative, but how is filler a natural look?

Dinkiedoo · 01/08/2026 11:14

I had botox at 60 for frown lines. Didn't work ! Even had the men's strength version.

I worry about botox, too. There have been scientific studies done to show that molecules of the toxin can follow nerve pathways and travel further down the axons and past the nerve terminals, so it doesn't always stay where it's put. Separate studies have also shown differences in the brains scans of women pre and post botox treatment. There's currently no link between the two studies, but it's enough for me to steer well clear. I need my brain cells. I also worry about the effects it could have on autoimmune conditions, just not worth it for a purely cosmetic procedure imo.

Crushed23 · 01/08/2026 11:37

I’m 36 and I had my first RF micro needling procedure a couple of months ago and another one since (aiming for monthly).

That’s it for procedures. Mainly because I’m clueless tbh. I’ve got money to throw at it (DINK) but I don’t know which procedures are the most effective! I want flawless/glass skin but I don’t know how to get there. :(

I agree with this. I am very risk averse and am wary about the long term effects of all these fillers etc that people are injecting themselves with.

Did the Sculptra work?
Or are you having filler as an additional requirement for the Marionettes?
This is all new to me. But a few very stressful years have taken their toll so looking to see what I can do to rectify that, if poss.

Ed - to say, thank you for replying.

Never. I’m 59.
