Dh changes when a full moon

Not in a werewolf way and i’m not a woo type of person, but I’ve noticed a few times (going to have to start writing it down) that on the build up
to a full moon, he can be very moody and not nice sometimes and the day after-few days after, he’s back to himself, but much nicer-kinder

It’s happened too many times now to feel like a coincidence

Am I the one going mad?

Are you looking out for it more closely when you know there's a full moon coming up?

I used to be convinced my babies'/toddlers' extra-foul moods coincided with the full moons. When I actually started to make a note of it I realised it was randomly distributed, I'd just remembered the ones that were around full moons.

Also ... didn't want to state the obvious but.... there are things that happen monthly that make some of us more irritable and less tolerant of the people we live with...

MrsMoastyToasty · Yesterday 23:37

I think we're more affected by the natural environment than most people realise.
I often get a migraine when there's a dramatic change in air pressure.
DM was a school dinner lady and she said that the pupils were a lot more boisterous when it was windy.

Edited

No I tend to forget and sort of notice it afterwards. Just now I went outside and it occurred to me that he’s been awful for a few days but completely different tonight

Things that happen to men…?!

No, things that happen to women that make behaviours in others less tolerable and more annoying than they would be at other times.

I hate to say it but maybe it's not him, it's you? Grin

kattyjean · Yesterday 23:43

So I came here to say that it’s a known fact that behaviour changes with a full moon and that’s there’s data from police and hospitals to support this, but on double checking AI tells me this is a myth and there is no such data 🤣 however, it did say the one small data insight we have is that full moons can impact sleep and people can sleep on average 20 mins less so maybe irritability can be caused by that?!

deeplybaffled · Yesterday 23:45

DH works in a police control room in a major city. He and his colleagues definitely believe full moon affects behaviour!

🙄 blame the woman.

It’s not me, I barely have periods these days

So this is what I always believed but apparently there’s been a lot of studies on this and there is no data from police etc to back it up (caveated to say from AI!)

Fair enough - from a logic perspective if someone is being extra annoying once a month it's definitely a possibility to consider. Not 'blaming' at all, just pointing out no-one is truly objective when analysing others' behaviour!

Sure though, why not go with 'it's the moon'. Anything else happen monthly in your household?

Thiscantgoonlikethis · Yesterday 23:54

I work in MH including inpatients, the full moon is definitely a thing. Not just service users, staff too!

TheFormidableMrsC · Yesterday 23:57

I am very much affected by the run up to the full moon. The only way I can describe it is PMS
and then you get a period and all is well
again. I know that sounds mad but I’ve always been like it. I work in education and you notice it there too.

Cockerpoomom · Yesterday 23:57

I think theres definitely something in it.
My friends dog changes a few days leading to a full moon. He's quiet, withdrawn and really sensitive but we didn't know why til the full moon appeared . It's like he can sense something.

Ohhh, I get that too. I have known for 2 days the rain was coming and possibly thunder because my head has been thumping. Massive downpour (got caught in it and bloody soaked).
Guess what? I feel so much better...hope theres a wee bit more tomorrow (after i get my washing in 🤭.)

Snackccident · Today 00:01

I'm in perimenopause and this month my period started on the day of the full moon with a hangover thrown in for good measure. I wanted to kill EVERYONE.

Pistachiocake · Today 00:02

Police, teachers etc say it can affect behaviour. but don't know about anything beyond anecdotes. Have heard men can be different depending where their partner is in her cycle-again, not sure if any real studies have been done, but maybe there's some logic if they tend to do different things (eg some women cook or eat differently/exercise more/have different amounts of sex at certain points in their cycle).

of course the full moon affects people! given that we're mostly made of water, think of the effect of the moon on the tides etc and on nature. of course it affects us as well.

Also is your partner a zodiacal cancer sun, or perhaps he has planets like the moon in cancer, look up his birth chart. Yes I know most ppl think bollocks but it really might be the case!

Is there anything other than anecdotes though? It really interests me but I can’t find anything concrete and it doesn’t seem like the kind of thing that would be hard to evidence in MH, police and medical settings.

These are measurable changes to the environment, though. I feel my joints when it's low pressure Grin
I don't think the full moon has a measurable effect on the air/temperature/humidity etc though? (Happy to be corrected)

BoredZelda · Today 00:14

I have heard this so many times and it’s utter nonsense. It’s confirmation bias, nothing more.

The tides are affected because they are huge bodies of weighty water acting on the gravity of a huge dense body coming closer to it. The water in our cells doesn't move around with the tides. Even if it did, tides are constantly changing, not just once a month. You'd see this in glasses of water far more than you would in a person's cells.

In nature it largely has minuscule effects - as far as I can tell, the biggest is the increased light causing creatures to try and avoid predation.
