you check in and they've posted some bollocks about anxiety/ deep connections/Poisoning our bodies/loving full lives
is it part of being young and is it that we would have done the same in the 80s and 90s but couldn't ?
who produces all this hammy shit?

School near me has "inspirational" nonsense quotes on the walls. Things like "inclusion is being invited to the party, empowerment is being asked to choose the music". I shit you not. It's an academy of course. I often feel sad thinking about the damage being done to impressionable young minds by every day exposure to wall after wall of this carcinogenic horseshit.

The number of times I saw girls post this during university!! I just don’t get it?! It sounds like you want to abuse your partner and are bullying him for not being able to ‘handle it’

To be totally fair, my mum who is 76 also posts this shit. Her whole life has been an absolute dysfunctional shambles so it makes me laugh a little because she is the last person you would ever take deep philosophical life advice from.

My favourite thing is that everyone I know in their 40s with newly diagnosed ADHD, a career that made them miserable, a coke habit and a failed marriage is now suddenly a ‘life coach’. 🙄 They love this stuff too.

I saw an article many years ago about what routine Nicole Kidman used to obtain nice, soft feet without any hard skin. All bull. When I was severely underweight too, I didn't have hard skin on my feet either, and I did nothing to accomplish that.

At my workplace, they did the same.

It was a very millennial thing in my experience. I remember being about 22 and my Facebook just being a sea of wanky cod psychology quotes with pretty images and everyone leaving likes.

I did seriously consider putting something really offensive over a pretty sunset background to see if anyone was actually reading them.

It's probably even worse now that you can ai generate this crap.

I agree with the previous poster who suggested they are talking to themselves. Like cliches, profound statements are often based on a kind of truth we often see - in these cases, a truth they’d specifically like to see at that point. If it makes someone happier, it’s not harmful. And I also agree you see them on the timelines of all ages, not just younger people.

I’ve seen plenty of middle aged people posting thing type of stuff. I don’t think it’s an age thing but more of a personality and preference thing.

Ah when I was young in the 90s there was no social media but people loved the Little Book of Calm, philosophy of Winnie the Poo etc. There were
loads of those tiny square books n the counter at Waterstones
