AIBU to cancel my eyebrow procedure after this comment?

I went for a consultation yesterday to enquire about possibly getting microbladed eyebrows. The lady runs an independent company in her home. The consultation was helpful, she spoke me through all my options etc and I was ready to leave feeling positive.

However, just as I left, she made a passing comment about how ‘maybe next time I’ll let her know if I think about getting my lips done too’ (or
something to that degree, can’t remember the wording).

I do have extremely small, thin lips and I’m so self conscious about them. I actually had a small amount of filler a few years ago which has dissolved now. I was a bit taken aback so I mentioned this. She started to talk me through filler and blush, but she mentioned how you have to build up slowly to make ‘something out of nothing’. Basically saying I have no lips.

I am already aware of this and it’s made me feel awful. I am really low on confidence as is. I know it’s her job to try and upsell but I’m conscious about them as it is - the fact she brought it up without me mentioning it just made me think it’s more noticeable than I thought.

I actually had a few tears on the drive home and now I’ve cancelled my eyebrow appointment.. AIBU? I don’t know if I’m being too sensitive because I’m low on confidence!

Such sessions should leave you feeling good. She failed.

Do what feels right for you.

When I first went to get my eyebrows threaded, the woman doing it used to ask if I wanted my upper lip doing too. I never thought I had a moustache! I found it funny. After the first few times of asking, she then stopped and realised I was fine with my upper lip hair 🤷🏼‍♀️

But I am not in general a self-conscious person so it was water off a duck’s back. I think your woman should probably not have said anything.

I was asked the same, I said: show me the hairs on my lips! There weren't any. It's just an upsell they are trained to make. Or in OP's case that the beautician has trained herself to make.

I’ve had a few beauticians make comments about something that’s obvious with me too, I honestly just say ‘ah I think about it sometimes but not really there yet.’ Maybe trying to upsell, maybe trying to help/ help as well as upsell. I disagree they shouldn’t say things that might potentially help you, it’s like a gp saying‘actually you could think about being more active etc’. Sorry it upset you but if you normally like her work you should still go

Oh don’t worry, every time I get my eyebrows waxed they ask if I want my moustache doing 😂

Oh just realised I’m not the only one. Read the thread after posting 😂😂

Kate Middleton has thin lips, you’re in good company! I love the fact that she hasn’t had them done.

I had a beautician trying to talk me into botox after I'd gone for a manicure. I've had my wrinkled brow since I was eleven...

I never went back.
