My mum has thrown away over £150 worth of makeup and medication

I have a small pouch that I carry around with me everyday. It’s got a lot of medication in it (antihistamines, painkillers, stomach medicine), as well as 5 lip sticks and 4 lip liners. In total it comes to over £150 worth of stuff in a space NK small pounce (which is expensive in itself!).

I was at my mum’s on Thursday night when she complained about her having bad hay fever. I pulled out the pouch and handed it to her, and although I thought I’d put it back in my bag I must’ve left it on the side. I realised tonight it’s missing as I’ve gone through my bag ahead of work tomorrow and she’s admitted that she has thrown it away.

AIBU to say she should replace it? Both the makeup and medication she’s thrown away?

if they are more than 6 month old should be removed anyway

Is that you, OP's Mum? They would in your house anyway.

I haven't read the whole thread as its pretty bonkers! Id be absolutely peed off if I left something at my mums and she just threw it away. The again, my mum would always ring or text to say ive left XYZ at hers and id either say throw it away or ill come pick it up on X day. Its a non issue that you leave something at your parents house. Unless its massive and taking up loads of space. A bloody make up bag. Just courtesy to check isn't it. Same as id never throw anything of my mums away should she leave anything at mine.

Id absolutely want my parents to replace it. Sounds like yours wont though as they seem to have a lack of respect for other people's items.

OP's Mum sounds like the sort of person to throw away a child's toys/comics because "you're too old for them now".

Yassss!

At the end of the day it’s clear on this thread that some women have issue with other women treating themselves. Which is INTERNALISED MISOGYNY

Agree! It's reminding me of the episode of Sex and the City where Carrie's former friend reproaches her for her 'spending choices' after making her leave her expensive shoes at the door of her home where they are stolen. How very vain and shallow we women are if we dare to treat ourselves, eh?

I'm agog at all these ppl who sweep everything into a bin without even looking at it. Seems to be a somewhat common habit going by this thread. Is it fear of clutter? Or just absentmindedness?

She sounds like an arsehole. Yes i'd bill her.

I think it is fear of clutter, personally.

I just can't get my head round this, I'm kind of obsessed with sorting my litter and recycling as well as the things in my house. I think your DM is very odd OP and even more strange not to be apologetic about it. Sounds like in your future you'll have to keep all your belongings strapped to you at all times and not let them out of your sight!
