To think this heatwave is a bad as the last?

Last time it got really hot, a couple of weeks ago, schools closed early, there was different uniform, all sorts of safety restrictions.

This time it's just 'get on with it'. I work with young children and we closed at midday last time... This time the kids are so hot and bothered in the afternoon. We have a couple of fans in a huge space which only work for one person if they're almost sitting on top of them, let alone a room of kids. It's too hot to go outside - no breeze.

So AIBU to expect some consistency? If it was unsafe before, it is unsafe now. It's already so hot today.

Are you Christchurch or Weymouth? We have a slight breeze, yes everywhere is very quiet.

Bournemouth 🙂It's eerily quiet and I have lots of neighbours!

Jeez people constantly moaning about this weather. Enjoy it while we can fgs !
Fans, shade, plenty of hydration.
Blimey ! It will be p’ing down soon !!

You may enjoy it- most don’t. Heat exhaustion, dripping with sweat, no energy, plus we can’t all loll about all day! House work, cooking is a No No, garden plants die even if watered, the heat is so intense. Nights are uncomfortable. Its intolerable. I’d love for it to be p’ing down!

This has become really unbearable - still 32 degrees here and the house is at 30. Please, when will it end - I'm just a mess of sweat and tears and so bloody hot.

So are you getting them to sponge down their face so they don't get so hot?

It's better here than when we were in the red warning area and it was 39, 29 overnight. It's only 30% humidity here as opposed to 65%. Don't get me wrong, I still hate it but this one isn't making me cry!

I don't think you're being unreasonable. It does seem odd when the temperatures are very similar but the response is completely different. I appreciate schools and nurseries can't keep closing every time it's hot, but if the risks were considered serious enough a couple of weeks ago, it's understandable that people expect the same approach now. The children are the ones who end up struggling, especially in buildings that just aren't designed for this sort of heat.
