To love it when colleagues bring their dogs to work and want them to do it more often?

I work in a factory and people sometimes bring their dogs in (not on the factory floor of course but in the office side or other rooms where they can safely be - today there's two in the women's shower room) and I love it so much as do many others. But I suppose there's a chance there's some people in the building that don't like dogs/scared of them/are allergic so don't like it, though no one has complained yet.

Most of the factory is on holiday this month so I am strongly encouraging people to bring dogs in while its quiet and less people to potentially be bothered, so I can get some canine cuddles when I need a break from work.

the boss's dogs were at the interview and I was asked if I'm OK with dogs as they are there every day the boss is there

As if you're going to say in an interview situation that you're not OK with dogs.

If I wasn't OK with dogs I wouldn't have taken the job though, so that's better than the dogs being a surprise after you've taken the job and quit your previous one.

A lot of dog owners think their dogs are "well behaved" and "friendly" when they aren't. I've had dogs growl at me and the dog owner says "it's ok he's friendly" - yeah, right.

Who are you in the company? Are you the boss encouraging people to randomly bring their dogs to work to sit in a shower room?

Statsquestion1 · Yesterday 09:33

What does the factory make?

No thanks. I can only imagine the slobber in this weather.

Although in Turkey it seems very common to have cats wandering around the workplace.

You do know not all dogs slobber. In fact by far the majority don't.

My friend works in a Court and dogs are often taken there. She loves it

Much as I love dogs, I can only imagine the chaos my 2 twits would cause. And they’d definitely cock their legs all over the place due to all the new smells.

Mycatmax · Yesterday 09:57

There are very few workplaces where dogs couldn’t be allowed as assistance dogs are legally permitted. There are legal precedents which favour the disability of the dog owner over allergies and phobias.

You could have been working somewhere for years and have to leave or make adjustments if they employed someone with an assistance dog.

No I'm just an employee, fairly new here. I just encourage people that are considering bringing their dogs in to do it. Though I don't think they need my encouragement, its clearly a thing here.

I work in a dog friendly office and I'm not a dog person at all. Three of the regulars are fine and leave me alone, but one of them is a pain in the arse and disrupts everything. I dread coming in on the day he is usually in for this reason.

why stop at dogs? How about people bring in their cats? Why not gerbils, rabbits, tortoises? Pet tarantulas perhaps?

or perhaps we could agree as adults that pets don't belong on offices

Ohh can I bring my beehives? Can long as your calm the bees won't touch anyone!

I was a bit sick in my mouth at ”canine cuddles”.

Not that keen on dogs at work but tolerable if they don’t bark. But keeping them in a shower room all day doesn’t seem very nice for them either.

Would have loved a BYDTWD when I was working but it never happened.
I know it would have been a madhouse but such fun to see all those furry characters playing together or sleeping under the desks.
Toilet trips would have been an issue as we were multiple floors up.😖

I didn't think op was talking about assistance dogs?

Composites used in what industry?

Experienced many puppies/new dogs from rescues being brought in to work over the years.

One shat under the bosses desk and another cocked its leg and peed up the coat stand. I don't use the coat stand and just hang my coat from my chair....

So, due to the total chaos and hilarity I would actively encourage it!

Don't give anymore work info out, OP. Not everyone who asks a question does it from innocent curiosity.

MrsShawnHatosy · Yesterday 10:33

I’d love it. My last place of work didn’t allow dogs but did allow local police sniffer dogs in to practise occasionally. It was great watching them work. One of them once showed a rather keen interest in a spare pair of shoes the CEO had in her office.

I’m merely asking as in my industry (pharma) even an assistance dog would not be allowed on site…no way no how. So I’m intrigued as to what industry does allow this?

Many. I work in insurance law specialising in health & safety and undertake site safety surveys. It's fine.

Yes, that’s a balance of needs. Different to people bringing their dogs into the workplace rather than arrange a dog walker.

It’s why they posted. Dog threads are always entertaining
