To think that retailers should be forced to tell us who they are using as couriers BEFORE we commit to buying something?

Yes this is a first world problem but I am really hacked off that yet again - and for the second time in ten days - Evri has failed to deliver my parcel. I try to avoid them and these two orders were with retailers who usually use Royal Mail (also useless, but at least they have regulators who at least notice that they CBA to deliver on time), so those retailers must have switched to Evri.

Surely it can't be unreasonable to expect the opportunity to see who will be handling the parcel and say 'no thanks'?

We have an Evri Woman who is brilliant. Everyone should have one imho. Grin

The worst one I’ve had is UPS because the two times they delivered, they sent no texts or updates so I couldn’t tell them I wouldn’t be in and to leave with a neighbour etc. So when they couldn’t deliver, they took my parcel/s away to a random shop five miles away. Good job I drive realty. I prefer the ones who fling it over your gate tbf.

Yes agree, its rare you can find this information out and even sometimes when its been identified as what courier they use, sometimes they use a different one, it simply depends

I order from a wide variety of sites and companies and they all differ, you just cant tell

igelkott2026 · 03/07/2026 18:45

Yes yes yes and given we pay for postage, we should be able to choose, too. I don't mind as much now as I WFH most of the time but when I was in the office I much preferred Royal Mail so I could go to the sorting office if I wasn't in.

Also they should have to say upfront if they are dropshipping from China. It's not always obvious if their web address is .uk and their address is in the UK too. But then you find you have a 10 day wait for delivery.

I don’t not believe you, I just said I think most state the info. Unfortunately for OP she’s using m&s who use a mix of Royal Mail and evri according to Google

Well just out of interest I checked Brewers who Ive ordered paint from, no indicator of who they use, M+S who as you say use a combination, so you dont know who you're getting and Next who reference Evri but also use other couriers

likelysuspect · 03/07/2026 18:50

I hate DPD, no way of contacting them and their depot is 40 miles away so they just take it back there if they dont deliver it

igelkott2026 · 03/07/2026 18:52

I have just done a non-scientific study of four websites, they all said which couriers they use. And one gave you a choice if you asked for premium delivery - there are three options of different time periods and different companies.

So things have improved a lot in terms of information One used Evri and it's a website I have used and to be fair it was fine. I think they are ok in my area though.

Icecreamandcoffee · 03/07/2026 18:56

I agree, it should be easy to find and clear not hidden away so customers can make an informed choice. It would be nice if customers could choose a courier.

Evri isn't too bad here, your parcel will come but only on a Thursday or Friday and alternate Tuesday afternoons as that's when the Evri driver for our area does his deliveries so if I'm ordering something that I need for a Monday then I don't want it coming via Evri.

Royal mail is hit and miss here depending on who is covering our round and what's going on. Sometimes the postman is in his van so we get packages with the mail 2x a week. Other times the post comes and packages come separately. Sometimes they seem to save the packages and everyone on the street pretty much gets a package after having no packages for over a week, some people get 4 or 5 at a time.

Dpd is great here.

Yodel is an absolute no go, your parcel will end up at the other side of town, in the other village, randomly dumped 3 streets over.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 03/07/2026 18:58

Evri left my new dehumidifier on my doorstep, dispite a do not leave on doorstep on the address label.
They took a picture of it on my doorstep and you can see the warning if you zoom in. I was in but they didn't even knock. Im tempted to pretend it got nicked

Who were they?

Evri are a shower of shit.
RM aren't much better. Changed my delivery to pick up from the post office, they still tried to deliver home and of course I got the 'we tried to deliver' message. So now I've selected the post office (again!) for tomorrow.

We are somewhat lucky with our Evri driver. He only comes 2 days a week and an alternate Tuesday but he does actually deliver.

My friend lives the other side of town and her Evri driver collects the parcels and then expects people to come to her house to collect them (she has a whole Facebook page for this as it's her "girl boss" business) but only between 9.30am and 11.30am and then 1pm until 2.30pm or after 6pm but no later than 8pm, not at the weekend but an occasional Saturday (for which you have to look on her FB page for) when her children are at their Dad's houses. I have never known anyone suffer as many car problems/ emergency childcare problems/ life crisis' as "Michelle" (not her real name).

TheClocksFast · 03/07/2026 19:13

Totally agree after a complete fiasco with Evri recently. Totally incompetent and despite being contacted by Evri about it I was only told that they’d lost my parcel, then found it, but ultimately it was never delivered.

BillieWiper · 03/07/2026 19:18

Out local Evri service seems ok. Some couriers dump stuff outside the door but it's not any one firm that does it. It's really dependent on the driver you get. Nothing's ever gone missing. Fingers crossed!
But I agree RM has a better reputation and satisfaction rate statistically.

Workisntworking · 03/07/2026 19:50

We find Evri good. My heart sinks when its Royal Mail. DPD is the best.

Floatingdownriver · 03/07/2026 19:51

I couldn’t agree more. EVRI are horrors

nomas · 03/07/2026 20:16

Evri is perfect where I am. Never had an issue. I've just responded to their emails asking for ratings with 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

Ah actually, there was one order that was damaged en route, but the company replaced it immediately with next day delivery, so I gave lots of ⭐⭐⭐⭐ again.

hattie43 · 03/07/2026 20:27

Agreed . I wouldn’t buy a single thing delivered or mainly not delivered by Evri

I TOTALLY AGREE. For me it's DHL who are rubbish locally. It's put me off buying bigger items from John Lewis and Dunelm, both of whom use them in my area. Amazon on the other hand remain consistently excellent here.

Ladygodalmighty · 06/07/2026 18:23

The same Evri driver has been delivering in our area for years. He is a lovely man doing a great job!

AJLOAL · 06/07/2026 18:27

Amazon are my problem

YDBear · 06/07/2026 18:34

Had two things delivered by Evri last week. Both arrived broken. Have taken to begging anyone I buy anything from NOT to use Evri.

PurpleCanary · 06/07/2026 20:41

I love my Evri driver, he always gets a £10 christmas tip like the milkman 😆 Lots of people don’t seem to realise that not only can you choose your courier on Vinted you can also choose your courier as a seller. I see a lot of listings saying “don’t choose in post I don’t live near one”. Or “don’t choose a service that needs a label as I don’t have a printer”. I don’t understand that one, but maybe because all the shops I live near print the labels for you.

celticprincess · 06/07/2026 22:22

I ordered something through Amazon but it was being delivered by Evri. It appears to be lost and I cannot for the life of me cancel the order or get a refund because it goes around in circles telling that the courier are expecting the parcel. When I try to put in for a refund it goes to various screens and back again and doesn’t give me an option for refund. No idea how to get my money back. Amazon say they can’t refund as it’s a third party sale. But it keeps taking me back to Evri and then back to Amazon.

It's the Royal Mail small packages that you need to print yourself for Vinted.
So a small envelope item you need to print it, Post Office won't do it.

Wow, cheeky Michelle!! That is shocking behaviour as they get paid for delivering.
