Bums hanging out of the bottom of teeny tiny shorts

Noodleschicken · Yesterday 20:42

Don’t know if this really AIBU or a question!
AIBU to think that shorts have become way too short ?
I have seen a LOT of girls in shorts today - with their bum cheeks hanging out the bottom ! Personally I wouldn’t let my daughter out like that. And I wouldn’t were them myself (I would give everyone nightmares !).
so what’s the consensus on bums hanging out of shorts ?

In my opinion I wouldn't be telling girls that they deserved to be raped if they weren't wearing a floor-length kaftan and cardigan at all times so as not to inadvertently inflame a poor, helpless man passing by who, naturally, would have no choice but to attack the provocative minx as a result.
I never wear shorts of any length, my preference. However, I am intelligent enough not to believe that young women deserve to be raped for doing so and am disturbed that you seem to disagree with me.

I think you have mentioned the R word 7 times, at least, now, my post doesn"t contain that word.

Thirteenblackcats · Today 15:59

Wouldn’t wear it myself. Couldn’t care less what others do it’s their body not mine

Fair point, the average shorts wearing person would not be interested in the views on this thread anyway?

Are you usually attracted to women?

What an odd question. Attractive doesn't necessarily mean sexual attraction. I can appreciate someone who is stylish/looks attractive, be they male or female. To answer your question though, yes I am!

I saw a creepy old man ogling a 14 year old girl wearing perfectly normal length not tight denim shorts on the weekend.

Yes, we know pervs will look at teenagers no matter what, but why give them the satisfaction of looking at their literal bare arses? Also, more importantly, it's a fact that a child/teen that present themselves in a certain way, is a green flag to predators that they are easier to groom. I am NOT saying it's right. Even walking around stark naked isn't "asking for it", but facts are facts. Preds look for signs in minors such as they are neglected in some way, have absent or "cool" relaxed parents, are showing signs of wanting male attention. I'd say that showing arse cheeks while walking from school or around Asda (so not where it makes sense like a beach) unfortunately puts them in the easy target category. Like I already posted, there are also men secretly taking pics and that's going to be on the rise with meta glasses and who knows what else in the future.

Yes,very sensible points.

You don’t agree that walking along with your cheeks hanging out your teeny shorts is indecent or vulgar? They must be fully aware of the effect they are having. They are not doing it to keep cool.

I've said several times that it's a horrid fashion but it absolutely does not give people like you carte blanche to call them merchandise. They're guilty of wearing something tasteless and inappropriate and many of them are too young to really know any better. You are sexually deriding them and declaring them objects for sale because you don't like it, and that's worse, plus you have no excuse.

I wonder how you know so much about it.

Do you wonder? Really? Or are you sarcastically trying to imply something about me?

I wore them in the 70s.. made my own cutting up a pair of old jeans. Frayed the edges.. wore with cheese cloth top that tied at under the bust.. it's nothing new.. oh to be 18 again with the lovely figure l had then.. lovely long legs. Pert bum and boob's that stayed up... unfortunately I'm now 68.. as long as no bits on show.. live and let live.

I was around in the 70s (as a little girl, admittedly) and I don't remember seeing the sorts of shorts we are talking about here on anyone. Not where half your buttock was banging out of the back.

The majority of people were quite conservative in the 1970"s? It didn"t take too much effort to stand out a bit, now everything has to be overt on steroids, that is a symptom of social media and phones in my opinion, if half the street is hanging out of their shorts no one really notices anymore, so you will see groups in shorts being really loud to try and pull the attention to them.

I hope you would have been equally grossed out if she was slim

I did think adding ‘obese’ to my post could offend but it did make a huge difference - larger exposed surface makes the visual impact greater.

They weren’t like today’s version. G-string/thong underwear weren’t even mainstream underwear in high street clothing shops until the 1990s. The 1970s shorts covered your bikini knickers. Today’s require g-strings or thongs.

Are you always that easily offended by things that don’t directly affect you?

If you don’t want to see something, look away. It really shouldn’t be complicated

I am not calling them objects for sale but to some they will give off that vibe. I don’t get the too young to know any better bit. They cannot be unaware of the effect they are having. If they are too young why on earth are their parents letting them go out like that( unless they change once they have left home) I can’t imagine any responsible parent would do this! You may call it tasteless and inappropriate- I call it indecent and vulgar, and so do many others!

Good for them, if only I had the body and the youth.

Young women have been pushing these kind of boundaries since Mary Quant gave us the miniskirt

Even if I had the body , which I don’t , I would be so embarrassed walking around with my arse hanging out . It’s like when I was a teenager it was a fashion for a while to have a visible thong over your jeans . I didn’t partake in that fashion . I could never understand why anyone would want to. But it’s none of my business what other people want to wear I guess

Perhaps someone can explain why people’s clothing offends them so much, there’s a current thread about people daring to have their feet on display.

It seems like an excuse to rip into other women (generally) under the guise of ‘being helpful’. It’s nasty, shallow and reductive.

It is a shame that people have nothing else to think about when they are out and about.

Oh and know that the sort of people on this thread are judging the hell out of every little detail of your appearance

Do you wonder? Really? Or are you sarcastically trying to imply something about me?

I'm implying that you're a man who's pissed off because women get to choose which men they want to be attracted to them and you don't qualify often enough and you think their right to reject you makes them hypocritical.

Obviously you will furiously deny it and probably claim you're a woman who absolutely hates that women can choose to say yes or no, but I won't believe you. And even if it's true, that won't make it any less of a ridiculous and misogynistic view.

Maybe not, but it is crystal clear that that is what you were referring to when accusing 'provocatively' dressed young women of tempting predators at the end of the first post of yours to which I responded, there can be no other reasonable interpretation of your words.
I am unsure why you are being so coy about using the 'r-word', as you bafflingly describe it, and prefer to employ euphemism and obfuscation, but I guess the 'r-word' causes the same amount of pearl-clutching for you as young women being out in public while not being covered from head to toe does!
Since you seem to think that rape victims are at least partially responsible for being attacked you should have the decency to state your regressive and misogynistic views in unequivocal language. At least have the courage of your convictions, even if they are morally reprehensible.

Easterchicken · Today 18:38

We have had this issue with guides when we take them for a hike. It really isn't appropriate and one day in the peake district we got a complaint from a member of public and i couldn't help but to agree with them

The girls are representing the guides yet look like they are about to do a shit at a strip club

I blame the parents as we have asked on multiple occasions for shorts to be mid thigh as a shortest length yet they still drop them off looking like street walkers

I have personally never ever seen a woman totally topless on the high street or city centre on a hot day (though I have seen the arses out thing that makes Daisy Dukes look like a kimono). I guess once it becomes an issue, shops and pubs will address it.

Well I thought it was obvious I was simply referring to notices about what people wear and the appropriateness of that. I wasnt suggesting its like for like and that its about women being topless. Its about there never being any notices about what women wear, yet some women (and now girls) wear very revealing and sexualised items.

I don't care enough and it won't make any difference to the ridiculous misogyny of complaining about a woman's right to like one man and not another.

"Women get to choose which men they want to be attracted to them "

You mean choose who they go out with? If a man isn"t attracted no amount of choosing will change that.
