AIBU to expect that parents keep their children’s pushchairs and prams clean?

Our local FB page had someone posting to see if there was a pram/pushchair cleaning service locally.

To my amazement there is!

£25 a single pram, £35 a double and £50 for a travel system.

AIBU to expect that parents would just keep on top of this?

Why do it yourself if you can afford for someone else to do it … keeps a local business going, sounds fine to me.

I want to get one of those companies in to clean my Oven, but too ashamed of the state of it.

I do have a cleaner and someone who does me ironing .. because I’m lazy

HelpMeGetThrough · 28/06/2026 13:43

Haven you seen on here that the answer to everything is “to get a cleaner”?

Caffeinepleasenow · 28/06/2026 13:44

I would expect a professional clean to be much more thorough than would I would have time/products/equipment for at home.

IllBurnThatBridgeWhenIGetToIt · 28/06/2026 13:44

Do you think cleaners shouldn't be a thing either as people should keep on top of their homes. What about valet services because adults can clean their cars. Oven cleaning, wheelie bins, jewellery......

Pockett · 28/06/2026 13:45

Do you have any grandkids @Nevergotdivorced ? If you do, and your adult child mentions they are utilising such a service…. PLEASE don’t twist your mouth into a judgey curl and ask them why on earth they haven’t just kept it clean

PancakeCloud · 28/06/2026 13:46

If you can afford it why not.

Keroppi · 28/06/2026 13:46

Maybe to sell on or after storage.. or ready for the next kid.
It's less than a takeaway for a small job someone cba to do. Sounds like a good little small quick job on the side for a cleaner. Win win

hellofrommyothername · 28/06/2026 13:47

I don’t think I’ve ever cleaned my pram other than the sheets inside it… oops

Okiedokie123 · 28/06/2026 13:47

People are happy to pay for the convenience of a house cleaner, car valet, doggy wash/groom, gardeners, child care - pushchair cleaning is just an extension of that...... not something I would pay for but I can see why others would.

Fififlamingo · 28/06/2026 13:47

Unbelievable - a quick wipe down with a soapy cloth and job done. Have had three children and have never had to engage someone to valet the pushchair 😟

Batties · 28/06/2026 13:48

Parents are keeping on top of it, otherwise they wouldn’t be employing such a service. I suspect what you mean is ‘how dare mothers (and let’s be honest that is who you mean) not get on their hands and knees and clean like good little women.

VoltaireMittyDream · 28/06/2026 13:49

I’m just here to say kids can also survive having a mucky pushchair. Life doesn’t need to be an endless mission to ‘keep on top of’ mess.

DollopOfFun · 28/06/2026 13:49

My pram days are a distant memory, but I do vaguely recall they could get a bit messy in the joint-y bits.

Couldn't give less of a shit if people nowadays pay for pram cleaning tbh.

You’ve got to be a lazy fucker to use a wheelie bin cleaning service. Quick blast with a jet washer sorts that out.

Gonnaeatalotofpeaches · 28/06/2026 13:51

We used one when we bought a used pram for our baby. Much cheaper than buying new and better for the environment- a great business!

I don't own a jet washer.

RitaFires · 28/06/2026 13:53

I keep mine clean although there is a little sand on it at the moment, but I thought these valet services were used when buying or selling second hand or passing on to a friend or family member so it's as new for a new child not a regular thing because people can't be bothered to wipe things down.

JillThePlantKiller · 28/06/2026 13:54

ugh, hated doing that, and the car seats. The grime that you had to scrape out of the folds and seams!! And that horrible acidy smell of puke. I think that’s a great value service.

stargirl27 · 28/06/2026 13:54

People do keep it clean day to day but professionals have equipment for a deep clean. I know some people also buy prams etc second hand then get it cleaned by a professional, works out cheaper than buying new.

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 28/06/2026 13:56

I never understand posts like this - how does it possible affect you if other people get their prams cleaned?!

My prams and buggies were always kept clean, but we sent one off for a deep clean between DC after it had been stored in the loft. Well worth it

Oh they’re so much fun. You can piss the neighbours off on a Sunday morning at 9am using one.

Unless you live on a very crowded terrace in a very crowded city, where everyone’s bins are out the front, and washing your bin with a hose would just end up splashing passers by with bin juice & there’d be nowhere to slosh the dirty water away.

Everyone where I lived used a wheelie bin cleaning service - it was about £20 a month and they cleaned every time the binman came so nobody had stinky bins in the summer. They have a machine on the back of their lorry that picks your bin up and hoses it down upside down so nobody gets splashed.

Who owns a jet washer tho?

Also, so we really need to clean our wheelie bins? :s

Some people’s lives revolve around policing other people’s cleanliness and industriousness.

Doesn’t sound like much fun to me.

I’d much rather pay to get my bins and prams cleaned to piss off handwringers on MN
