Am I the only one who is loving this weather?!

Happy for everyone who loves this weather but sad for myself who doesn't 😂

My main complaint is that it's always like this during the week when majority of us are working - come the weekend when I can go to the air conditioned cinema to escape for a while it will have cooled down somewhat!

LadyChilli · 23/06/2026 13:19

Yup! It's all very well people saying you can layer up with clothes but when working it is not possible to wear mittens, and fingerless gloves still leave my hands cold and stiff. People think you are nuts wearing a coat and hat etc in the office and you can't cover your nose.

I'm loving the heat. It is 25 degrees here at the moment. I am lucky to work from home and will just enjoy it for this few days where I can be toasty warm. Lunch and dinner can be eaten outside and I will enjoy reading my book in the garden.if it went on for weeks I might get sick of it eventually. As I do with the cold and grey.

Yes! I work for myself and I cannot wear gloves as I work in medical, but I am always cold. Come September I have no choice but to wear a full length, full sleeved vest, tshirt, my work tunic and a jumper, leggings and trousers over and I can still be freezing. It sucks to feel like that all day everyday, but everyone claims it’s the perfect temperature and I’m just honestly so cold. It sucks.

No, there’s something mentally wrong with you to enjoy baking to death.

I couldn’t agree more. I really struggle not to be overwhelmed with worry about climate change and what these temperatures mean for the future. I don’t see how anyone can enjoy these very high temperatures, knowing what they bode for the planet, for our children’s futures.

I guess in the same way you can enjoy a flight to a holiday, knowing that by doing so you are hastening climate change? Or enjoy a skirt from primak knowing the same? Or, for that matter, a steak?

The future is looking bleak, and yet I enjoy sitting in the sun tanning my legs and going to the beach. I enjoy a cold wine in the garden. I enjoy getting all the washing done.

Humans are weird like that, we often enjoy things that are ultimately not great for us

Gardeningsideeffects · 23/06/2026 15:17

It's lovely. The air smells incredible. I love the feeling of being warm all the way through.

However I hated the May heatwave. So I went on a diet and I'm half a stone down and feeling MUCH better 😁

I only enjoy heatwaves when I'm feeling thinner.

I know what you mean. I didn’t used to struggle so much with anxiety in heatwaves until quite recently.

And I’m certainly not here to say that I’m not part of climate change myself. Absolutely not. I have tried to make some changes but often it feels futile.

You are right to focus on the positives though, and you’ve helped me to think of one which is less mud! I generally enjoy the cold and rain but one thing about winter that gets me down is the endless mud, whereas at the moment we are all blissfully mud-free!

I know what you mean. I feel anxious when I think about the cause of this (to me) lovely hot weather, and how bad it is for the majority of the world's people. And how much worse it will get. But, in the here and now, the sun is shining and there is no mud, so yes - reasons to be cheerful

FWC2026 · 23/06/2026 15:38

No you're not the slightest bit unreasonable to be enjoying it.💕 I'm glad some people are! Prescribe I would have too!

BUT it's hot here 38/39/40 here & post stroke I'm not enjoying it & that's not unreasonable either. My body just can't regulate, it's affecting my balance & I just feel unwell. I'm staying home because I can't trust my body's reactions & I'm scared I'll judge pass out (again). It's SHIT!

if only people could respect its different temperatures everywhere, the same temperature 'feels different' to everyone & a persons comfort/discomfort is personal. It's not about backbone or resilience or whatever other shit people are banging on about.

I want everyone who can enjoy it, to enjoy it to the max! Not to take things for granted & realise that overnight your life can change behind recognition!!

clearlyy · 23/06/2026 15:40

I love the heat! I just don’t enjoy being at work while it’s like this!

samthebordercollie · 23/06/2026 15:46

Depends on the temperature particularly at night. I live in France and yesterday the daytime was 40C but the night was worse with a minimum of 27C. It’s impossible to open the windows and let in cool air and very hard to sleep.

FizzyPopLove · 23/06/2026 15:47

37-40 degrees is not pleasant.

SadiraOfTyr · 23/06/2026 13:44

I'm loving all the people posting about how they love the heat and it's 25c where they are and they have access to the sea.

25c is not hot. It's pleasantly warm. The temperatures that people are worried about are the high 30s with 90% humidity. Which is what we have for the next few days.

Who's we? 🙄 not everywhere it isn't

'we' is me and my family. Somewhat obviously from the context.

I think it's where privilege really shows.

People in the suburbs or rural with a decent house or flat with windows on both sides & some outside space, option to work from home & invest in decent fans. Kids in schools with green space & outdoor space etc are probably living the dream.

A family in a cramped city tower block flat with windows that can only be opened a crack, heat rising making top floor unbearable, no outside space probably commuting to a manual job eg restaurant are probably really suffering.

Alot of medications affect how people regulate body temperature & alot of chronic illnesses are made worse by excess heat.

Health & wealth makes a huge difference here.

Exactly. In fact I'm annoyed enough to say that I think they're a bunch of unthinking twats

Well where are you? It’s a lovely 23 with a sea breeze where my son lives on the IOW. It’s a mild 21 for my DD in Durham. It’s a sweltering 29 here in London and getting hotter.

32 degrees where I am. Horrible.

AClassicTrenchcoat · 23/06/2026 17:24

I am on a bus in London. Scorchio. 33 degrees according to my phone. So not warm, hot. Not looking forward to Weds/Thurs but it never lasts long..

bananaapplepears · 23/06/2026 17:28

Its awful. Everything feels dirty in this heat. All the sweat etc over everything. Everything smells more too (I have a very sensitive sense of smell). It feels like germs are breeding everywhere. Give me a cold crisp day any day. Feels beautifully clean and healthy.

AbsoluteHoot · 23/06/2026 17:28

Lovely here in SE. Phone says 32 but it’s very pleasant. Another evening planned having drinks and dinner outside. Making the most of it. I probably won’t go into the office this week. Mostly because everyone will have desk fans going and I find them extremely annoying.

Elbowpatch · 23/06/2026 17:28

33 degrees outside in the shade here. Pleasantly warm, for me. I have got lots done outside.

From when I started peri, I became like a bloodhound for smells! I swear I can just smell BO everywhere when it's 30+ and it isn't me!

I remember a couple of summers back going to westfields on a hot day and I had to leave because it was making me feel physically sick. Never again.

Redragtoabull · 24/06/2026 00:46

My family have been saying since November 'When will it warm up, can't wait for summer', and guess what .. . Now it's summer, they're all fucking moaning how hot it is. Give yourselves a break people, go with the flow, we cannot regulate the weather but we can take measures to regulate ourselves. Don't moan about how hot it is and then drink copious amounts of alcohol, eat spicy food, or leave your curtains and blinds up during the day for the sun to beat down on your panes of glass to up its anti 3 fold! And when you go to greet someone especially a close friend or family member don't say 'eww, don't touch me, I'm sweaty' err, do you think your the only one hun, the whole country is a sweaty mess right now, embrace it. I couldn't give a flying fuck if you have sweat dripping from every orifice this week, no-one's gonna be looking uber svelte, sexy or smart so chill out, stay cool 😎 Love Crumpled Silkskin x

tillyandmilly · 24/06/2026 00:56

No energy - can hardly walk feel like a zombie! Ridiculously hot - glasses keep falling down my nose - can’t do all the jobs I need to do as too exhausted! Roll on the Autumn!

SomeGarlic · 25/06/2026 19:00

I admit it. I'm an annoying heat-lover, lived in the tropics, know all the tricks ... I'm too hot. I was more or less okay yesterday; today's extra 1 or 2 degrees has beaten me! My flat doesn't have outside space.

My giant fans are now blowing hot air, so I've got two of them oscillating (moves the air more) about 3 metres apart and am sitting in the middle. This is fine - it's windy where I am, and feels cooler. Before leaving my turbulence position, I'm having to plaster myself in menthol gel and/or soak myself with water, just to make moving to another room tolerable. Argh.

It's only one day and I'm sure I could get moving if I really, really had to! Fortunately for me, I don't have to - so I'm allowing myself to act like a pathetic Brit 😉 Can I just say it once? Oh, it's so HOT, isn't it!

sallydoodlecat · 25/06/2026 19:06

It’s been 35 in Surrey. I am not coping. Constant ice packs on me. Fine if you can jump in a pool. Not fine when you have to work, deal with kids who can’t sleep, a dog who looks pleadingly at me wanting a walk. Having to get up and out super early to walk said dog. Being eaten alive by mosquitos. I have 12 right now. Other than that yeh it’s great.
