Am I the only one who is loving this weather?!

And mine. I had an extremely harrowing morning but it would have been ten times worse if it had happened during the six months of solid rain that constituted our winter.

Lentilcakes · 22/06/2026 15:33

It’s nice in my garden in the shade (in London) but that’s it! There’s a breeze so it’s bearable. Not gonna be a breeze in the next few days though

DysonHoover · 22/06/2026 15:43

ThinkImGettingNarky · 22/06/2026 15:18

The glorious sun and its heat lifts my mood.

Yes mine too. Immeasurably tbh

Mirrorxxx · 22/06/2026 15:45

God no it’s awful. My dog cannot go outside. Houses here are not built for it. And it’s hard to work.

HelpMeGetThrough · 22/06/2026 15:53

Bloody love it, beats shite wet weather. Long may it continue (even though we know it won’t).

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 22/06/2026 15:57

I’m loving it BUT I’m very lucky as I don’t actually have to leave the house. If I had to use public transport, or work outside etc I would just be crouched down in the corner weeping 🤣.

Twilightstarbright · 22/06/2026 16:09

I’m loving it but I’m on gardening leave and planning to use my gyms outdoor pool then read in the shade. If I had to get the tube I’d be feeling differently. I’m also washing everything I can whilst I have the ability to dry quickly.

AgnesMcDoo · 22/06/2026 16:14

It was lovely this weekend. 23c at its best. Back to rain again today and 18c though.

I’m excited by the forecast of 25c tomorrow

whirlyhead · 22/06/2026 16:17

I have all my ceiling fans on and it’s still 35 degrees indoors. Outdoors in the sun early 40s. And I have to go and play pádel in an hour on an outdoor court!!!

Theredjellybean · 22/06/2026 16:18

I love it...it's only for a few days after all and then it'll be sodding raining again.
The craziness on MN makes you think some kind of apocalypse is happening just because it's going to be hot for a few days.

Iwanttobeafraser · 22/06/2026 16:21

I also think it's totally reasonable not to like the heat - I feel the same about the cold - but I am always bemused by the craziness of people being convinced that normal, healthy people are goign to drop dead as a result.

Like ANY extreme weather, certain vulnerable people will need to be a bit careful, and the rest of us should 100% make sure we're drinking enough fluids, staying out of the direct sunlight etc, but we'll all be fine.

Portmore · 22/06/2026 16:34

I think it's where privilege really shows.

People in the suburbs or rural with a decent house or flat with windows on both sides & some outside space, option to work from home & invest in decent fans. Kids in schools with green space & outdoor space etc are probably living the dream.

A family in a cramped city tower block flat with windows that can only be opened a crack, heat rising making top floor unbearable, no outside space probably commuting to a manual job eg restaurant are probably really suffering.

Alot of medications affect how people regulate body temperature & alot of chronic illnesses are made worse by excess heat.

Health & wealth makes a huge difference here.

Agreed. We get about 10 months of rain, grey skies and low temperatures. One week of hot weather (if that) and you'd think nuclear war had been declared.

Yep. It’s utterly pathetic. I think some people crave the oppression of lockdown again: they miss the curtain twitching, preaching, virtue signalling and holier-than-thou of 2020, and frothing at those “selfish arseholes” who were killing grannies by “flocking” to the beaches. Now they wish they could somehow keeping schools open in the heat to “killing grannies”.

NelferchyLlyn · 22/06/2026 18:11

I am loving the heat, Im pale so shouldnt like it but the warmth makes me feel lovely and happy.

I do work everyday but in a very air conditioned office so have had a hoodie on today as it was too cold!

I couldnt wait to come home, put my shorts on and soak up some vitamin D. Bliss!

Adoreappledore · 22/06/2026 20:03

i do live in the SW and have a beach not too far away but it’s been a normal day just a lot nicer. Gym class (no air con), walked the kids to school, worked (with a desk fan), and then picnic tea down beach like most days, showers and kids now down in bed.
Im definitely a lizard like a PP!

Loving it although we are slightly cooler up north.

Whammyammy · 22/06/2026 20:32

Nope I love it. Luckily my husband built a below ground proper swimming pool during winter/spring. Its not massive 10ft x 8ft, about waster deep. Have been in it all weekend. Although had the neighbour ask if her kids could use it on Wednesday as they're finishing school at lunch.

CoolGreenBee · 23/06/2026 07:47

It's hell for me. 2nd floor flat with all the heat from flats below me and an insulated roof above. Hit 29 degrees outside yesterday and was 26 degrees at 3am in my flat and currently rising. Met office predicting 33 degrees today and 37-39 degrees tomorrow and Thursday and i'm genuinely worried.

I've got black out blinds and a fan but it gets to the point where the heat is so high indoors in the flat the fan is just moving hot air around.

BitterTits · 23/06/2026 07:51

Well, warm is euphemistic. Are you working in it? Do you have air con and how do you commute? I love heat but I'm definitely not looking forward to a classroom of 30 sweaty teenagers with no fan unless I supply my own.

AbsoluteHoot · 23/06/2026 07:54

I’m loving it too. It’s not been too hot yet here in SE, and overnight we had lots of lovely rain. Our bedroom windows are wide open and I loved listening to it

ToffeePennie · 23/06/2026 08:50

It’s lush.
The only time a year I actually feel properly warm is in a heatwave. Otherwise I’m cold, I often can’t feel my toes (yes even in 18-19 temps) and my fingers feel numb. But in this weather, I can actually properly feel warm for a week or so, but I am aware that from next week it’s back to jumpers and shivering constantly. I hate all the talk of air con, I end up freezing, literally ice cold under an air con. It is too cold.
I burn badly (Irish skin) in the sunshine, but I slap on the factor 50+ and just do my best, the rest of the year everyone else is comfortable, I only get 1 or 2 weeks a year, and I thoroughly enjoy them!

See I hate aircon too and am perpetually cold! I hate working in an office with aircon, like you say it’s always too cold.
My kids 4, 10 &15 haven’t complained once either!

I love it!
I’m a dog walker, but I just gets walks done early for those that suits, do visits for others and take the hit for any cancellations.
Rest of the day is mine to sunbathe, swim in the river, chill…….
We rarely get weather this lovely…….

I have relatives in the SW. One major difference I have noted from staying there, is that those areas cool down over night. There is plenty of space for the heat to dissipate. Especially if you're near the coast.

I live in London. The buildings and pavements absorb the heat all through the day and then blast it out all evening, like storage heaters. The worst time for heat here is around 5-7pm. It's brutal.

I didn't need air con at night when I was staying with relatives, even though we had hot days. In London I absolutely do. I imagine the same is true of many cities.
