AIBU to be loving this warm weather?

Am I the only one who is loving this weather?!

Well there are too many variables here. And obviously it’s never unreasonable to like or dislike something, as long as you are considerate of the feelings of others.

It depends where in the country you live whether it’s “warm” or boiling hot (although I’m not sure if anywhere is just “warm” this week).

Also depends what you’re up to - if you’re working in a physical job most of all, or if you’re in a hot office, then it’s not going to be pleasant. If you can sit in your garden, or even better by a pool, then it’s much nicer.

So you can’t just say the weather is good/ bad as it’s subjective

Edit - so I voted YABU as we always get these same discussions which are incredibly subjective- and people using silly language just to wind others up - calling 30+ degrees “warm”, or saying “oh isn’t it nice and cool” when it’s -1 degrees and snowing, and people can’t get to work.

BurnoutBee · 22/06/2026 14:07

It’s fine if you personally enjoy it. But you should have awareness that climate change isn’t great and some people will get ill or suffer. It isn’t healthy heat. Skin cancer etc.

hellobaby24 · 22/06/2026 14:08

I think it depends where you are and what you are doing?

commuting into London to work in a hospital with no air conditioning is pretty unpleasant

Duvetdayforme · 22/06/2026 14:09

I’m loving it! It has to be above 30 for me to take my cardi off! Over forty and I might complain a bit, but only a bit!

Iwanttobeafraser · 22/06/2026 14:10

I don't love extreme heat, but it's fine. Yes, schlepping into work is harder and it's definitely harder to concentrate outside of air conditioning, but I'm already exhausted by the whinging and cries of danger and we're only on day 2. The hysterical posts on the DC's school's facebook page make me very very grateful I have NOT joined any of the class whatsapp groups.

ParcelDue · 22/06/2026 14:11

The evenings at home are nice. I am not enjoying commuting on the tube to my work in the hospital in central London. But what can you do but carry on.

BiddyPopthe2nd · 22/06/2026 14:12

Where I am, it’s in the 30s and sunny - not great outside but we tend to get storms overnight which help to clear the air a little. If I wasn’t working, it would be quite pleasant in the shade with a cold drink and a book. But I am working in a professional and non-AirCon office, trying to remember lots of technical information when my brain doesn’t want to work…

scalt · 22/06/2026 14:15

Yep, I’m loving it, while others are frothing hysterically on not one, but two other threads that schools have dared to stay open. Why is it that so few people enjoy the heat when we do have it, screaming “climate change!”, while flying out to get heat in February?

DysonHoover · 22/06/2026 14:18

I'm bloody loving it, and I won't apologise for it. I've been freezing for months. I'm anaemic and feel the cold a lot, and also skint so heating has been limited this winter.

This is pure bliss

SadiraOfTyr · 22/06/2026 14:18

I'm generally fine up to around 35. Over that I get a bit grumpy, especially as my office gets very hot. We have 3 days over that (up to 39) forecast for this week. And 90% humidity. So while today is lovely (high of 30) the rest of the week is going to be tough going.

BurnoutBee · 22/06/2026 14:21

@scalt

because when you “fly out” to heat, you tend to “be on holiday” which means “relaxing” and maybe getting into a nice, cold pool, whilst sipping a nice cold beverage.

Funnily enough, getting the tube in central London to spend a day in a non air conditioned hospital, doesn’t really have quite the same vibe about it. 🤔

My daughter was in Spain last week on a school Spanish exchange. The day finished at 2pm and the air con clicked on at midday. Those same students are a little horrified this week at the thought of sitting in these English classrooms….. it’s quite the irony. Perhaps these Spaniard kids should be more resilient here in the UK 🤦‍♀️.

Some of us aren’t frothing by the way. We are just speaking the language of common sense.

Our school has relaxed uniform and cancelled afternoon sport and I think that's a pretty big gesture and more than enough.

I'm waiting for the facebook posts whinging it's not enough... the email went out about 2 hours ago!

I grew up in south Africa. We did NOT have air conditioning. And school when it was super hot was, genuinely, awful. And yes, our teachers tended to be a bit more casual about what we were doing on the hottest of days and, of course, our uniforms were routinely shorts/skirts/dresses with open shirts. Blazers were supposed to be worn to and from school but perhaps that got relaxed during extreme heat.

But we still went to school. And were expected to do a fair amount of work.

Admittedly, at primary, we started early (8am) and finished early which is one of the things I've found odd abotu this coutnry anyway - the late morning start for most children. At secondary we finished between 13:30-1500, depending on the day - which might have helped too.

scalt · 22/06/2026 14:39

And someone on the other thread accused me of frothing. 😤 I make no apology for enjoying the heat. I’m sure the reason we got two weeks of cold and rain in early June (when I was at the seaside) was a punishment for Moansnetters ranting about the heat.

You know that huge areas of the world are this hot most (or all) of the year? People aren't dying like flies, they respond appropriately. And use fans.

Yes, climate change is real. I feel very sorry for people in some of the Arab states, where it's knocking 50° in the summer. But British overreactions to anything over 25° are a bit much.

bumblingbovine49 · 22/06/2026 14:44

I am loving today as the humidity.is not high. We were at a park today at midday, it was 30deg and hot but there was a gentle breeze and it felt lovely . Plus I have the week off so.not having to.work is great

I do need to.spend 2.5 hrs traveling to London tomorrow though including on the tube, ao there is that..

CatamaranViper · 22/06/2026 14:46

It's 21 degrees and cloudy where I am 🤦🏼‍♀️

Honeypizza · 22/06/2026 14:51

It's a bit of a novelty and I'll take myself for a lovely dip in the sea a few times this week I expect. But it's just started raining here, blowing a gale and I've had to put all the bloody lights on. That definitely wasn't on the forecast when I checked this morning. The house is feeling cooler though!

Twinkeltime · 22/06/2026 14:51

Im okay with it my home is at nice 20.

I love winter and all the weather mumsnet hates.
But I have air con to get me through.

Meadowfinch · 22/06/2026 14:53

It's great as long as you don't need to rush anywhere.

I'm loving it. 😊

MachineBee · 22/06/2026 14:55

I retired Sept 2024 and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the last heatwave and will this one. But I’m lucky that my house is great for keeping warm in winter and cool in summer.
PS - have got all my washing done and dried for the week too.

I’ll get my stuff.

mugglewump · 22/06/2026 14:56

If you are in the north YANBU, if you are in London, YABU. It will be 35 in the shade on Tuesday and Thursday, and 37 degrees on Wednesday. And if it is 37 in the shade, then it is going to be much more in the sun - or a classroom, which is where I will be. This is hotter than our normal blood temperature so we will all feel ill. When your body feels like it is running a fever and you are still working, that is not lovely weather!!

Chipsahoy · 22/06/2026 15:07

I am but it’s Scotland and 20c! 25c tomorrow. Can’t wait. I’d not be loving it at 30c though.

Locutus2000 · 22/06/2026 15:14

The shock with the upcoming heatwave will be the fact it's going to be humid as fuck with the nights over 20c.

AllSlugsAreBastards · 22/06/2026 15:14

YABU to call it 'warm' - it's not, it's fucking hot. Warm is how it was a few weeks ago: low 20s, cools down at night, don't have to get up at the crack of dawn to walk/run etc

ThinkImGettingNarky · 22/06/2026 15:18

The glorious sun and its heat lifts my mood.
