To think Andy Burnham is smug?

To think Andy Burnham is smug and presumptuous. Just that really and I have no particular political preference, disillusioned with the lot!

Burnham himself called for a general election on multiple of the changes of Tory PM. He is a complete hypocrite if he doesn't.

And now it's the Tories' turn to do the same, complete hypocrites as well

That does even things out and shows it's just shouting from the sidelines that all parties do.

Farage is jumping on the bandwagon as well, not so happy to be called out about his Tory defectors and by-elections.

Clavinova is a bloke

Nonsense. Are you suffering from heatstroke? A bit confused today?

I am a Conservative voting woman who has given birth to two children. I do enjoy challenging you lefties that is true.

Challenging us lefties 🤣🤣
All you're good for is your predictable and very, very boring copy and paste posts.

Oh for goodness sake! Just listen to yourselves. Give the man a break. How inane, to say someone 'looks smug'.
This constant change of p.m.s is getting ridiculous. Hounded out by the media and the dim people they stir up. They can't be expected to please everyone with the complex issues this country along with the rest of the world is dealing with.
Governments have long term plans and can t be expected to complete them all at once.

Clavinova · 23/06/2026 22:52

Hopefully Andy Burnham hasn't put a jinx on the England team. Are we going to win this game?

Looks like it's a non-starter. Much like Andy Burnham. All hype and no action.

Are we meant to recognise everyone on here?
You're only known due to your school girl abilities in the cut n paste department.

labamba007 · 24/06/2026 02:21

I heard that one time he put the empty milk bottle in general waste not plastic and glass.

poetryandwine · 24/06/2026 02:59

Dragonflyy · 23/06/2026 17:38

May and Johnson both went to the polls.

Give Burnham a chance.

poetryandwine · 24/06/2026 03:04

EasternStandard · 23/06/2026 17:41

Two of those were elected?

Two of those later called elections. Big difference. Don’t complain about Labour changing leaders whilst in government if you did not complain when the Tories did it.

Anarchy99 · 24/06/2026 03:11

Lyra25 · 22/06/2026 12:35

Why should he be? He’d be an unelected one and on what manifesto?

Every time on these threads…

Look I think Burnham is indeed a smarmy twat who changes his view on things to suit what people want to hear but we do not elect Prime Ministers in this country.

We elect MPs. The leader of the party with the most MPs becomes PM. (Said leader is elected by the party membership). While that party holds a majority, the leader will be PM, regardless of who that is and how many times it changes.

I don’t know where people get this idea that the job of PM is one that is elected, like in the US

He does look impermeable and not very bright. I’m holding out zero hope.

He went to Cambridge from a catholic comprehensive

CovenOfCheeses · 22/06/2026 14:25

I don’t like his haircut and he is not fanceable, I k ow most mumsnetters would agree. I would only like someone hunky to run the country.

I think the families of Hillsborough victims may disagree with your absolutely shallow, pathetic, puerile opinion
grow up

Dolphinnoises · 24/06/2026 05:22

I see the Reform MN influencer team are back.

aurpod1980 · 24/06/2026 05:43

He looks entirely self serving

See my post above
as a member of one of those families he certainly is not entirely self serving

Yes and clearly very twitchy. 😏

It’s more this idea no one complained then. Labour MPs did it’s in posts from them.

I don’t particularly care about a GE, Burnham isn’t going to be beaten by anyone else in his party but Labour and others asked for the same thing.

He has also served as Secretary of State for health and Chief secretary to the treasury.

The presumption that because he’s from the north he’s not bright is shocking and very telling.

mylifeisexams · 24/06/2026 07:03

noshade · 22/06/2026 12:35

He went from state school to Cambridge so presumably reasonably bright.

Anyone who thinks men can be women can’t be that bright. And lacks critical thinking skills

Yes, they asked and we're answered. Can't blame them for following the precedent set.
Tbh, I don't blame any of them. If they believe their party is best to govern, it's their job to do whatever they can within the law to gain/retain power.

AClassicTrenchcoat · 24/06/2026 09:45

Apparently when Truss became PM Burnham demanded an election. When Rishi became PM he demanded an election. When Starmer is hounded out, Burnham is strolling on a red carpet straight to no 10. The messiah thing is just nauseating. Most politicians are self serving, at least his arrogance and self serving nature is for all to see. Always a white male to lead Labour.
