AIBU to feel the media is pushing Starmer out?

To feel the media is forcing Starmer out and to be annoyed by this.

They need constant drama and content and this is done at the expense of the country. Starmer is boring but things are improving despite major problems like Iran in the background.

If this were 20 years ago he’d have been safe. They are treating government like football clubs and want Burnham as they think he’s more showbiz. These foreign owner media outlets don’t care about the stability of this country, they just want headlines and drama on X to drum up more drama for headlines and opinion pieces where the media all interview each other.

The country is becoming ungovernable because them and I’m sick of it.

Sigh. We elected a government, not a PM. I'd rather have hung onto him but the media have made it impossible. They WANTED to use the 'no mandate' line. That's what all this has been leading to.

I'll leave it there. You just watch it develop and remember that your hundreds of 'nothing to see here' posts will be here for your children and grandchildren.

The only thing I will be hanging onto is my opinion and that of many others. Burnham was not even a party candidate at the last GE. It raises serious questions as to why he can now come in without setting out his policies, that would have been able to be backtracked to his time as an MP during the last campaign. It is stating the obvious that running a city is different to running the country. That's not faux naivety, that's common sense. BTW, I'm a Tory not a Reformer but I will listen to what all parties have to offer.

No one cares about your anti-trans rhetoric on this thread. bore off really.
Intersex people exist. They can choose which gender they feel is right for them based on the own individual biological and how they feel about it.

How fucking rude are you to draw parallels with intersex and trans.

So you're accusing me of being a liar? If I was planning on voting Reform, I would say because despite all the evidence, this isn't called the Anti Reform forum. I am also an adult, so will exercise my vote where i see fit also shows your inability to see overlaps in political ideology. Apart from that and referring your post to MNHQ for troll hunting, it's pointless going any further.

Well maybe the British public should be given the chance with a general election. I'm not comfortable with the idea of bringing in a PM within such a short time frame, where it's uncertain what he represents. It's amateur hour but the whole debacle has been exactly that.

This is the issue though, anyone winning a general election will never be granted a full term to deliver on anything or see results before they themselves are hounded out and another one is called, with nothing being achieved in the meantime.
History tells us that those who emerge out of this instability to seize control might not always be the saviours you were hoping for.

Yes. Now ask what happens to financial markets when the country is unstable. Volatility. Lots of people make a heck of a lot of money. Like you say- media owned by large corporations looking to maximise wealth. Look up how much Trump and his family have made from the never ended cycle of peace talks. Frankly it makes me utterly depressed. As my grandma used to say, “money is the root of all evil”

The poster is anti -trans. Look at their responses
I was responding to the part about Keirs statement about women which covers both situation.
But yes insult people on the internet who weren't responding to you, without asking for clarification. That always adds to healthy discussion. 🙄

There is no way to clarify conflating intersex and transgender. It’s ignorant and insulting.

I didn't conflate the two. The specific comment the poster referenced, was about biology, which can be applied to both different things

Oh grow up.

Yes, wanting to protect woman and children is apparently immature 🙄

GoodkneeBadKnee · 25/06/2026 15:24

What's immature is saying :he thinks women can have penises", then scuttling off. Didn't feel that poster was particular concerned about "protecting women and children". Not sure you are either actually.

Lady1576 · 25/06/2026 17:32

They are absolutely not just reporting what is happening. There is so much going on in the world, but the hours and hours of commentary on leadership and party infighting is the only thing other than football that they give any time to. Giving air time to anyone with a contentious opinion. For example: On Tuesday Radio 4: ‚And next, 2 Labour mps considering joining the leadership race as Burnham‘s policies were not tested in election….and…. Nigel Farage says Labour had no mandate.‘ Why would you broadcast Farage‘s opinion AGAIN??? You know who’s policies were tested at election? SKS. You know which party and party leader won a huuuuge mandate less that 2 years ago? Labour with SKS. Reform just lost the latest ‚test’ in Manchester so why doesn’t he work on getting a mandate to be able to have the last word on everything that happens in this country. We already have a king, if we need an unelected random man to be given random air time for absolutely no reason. So NF can take take his factually flawed random spew of a comment and stick it somewhere else, but not on prime time radio 4!

What a load of nonsense. The media is simply reporting what is happening.
The Labour Party’s two factions are eating each other alive.

It isn't nonsense. It's good sense.

@GoodkneeBadKnee
Do you really expect me to respond to a comment of "Oh grow up" ?
That was the immature comment. No analysis, no critical thinking; just a throwaway insult. It wasn't worthy of a response.
Someone did engage and I responded to them at 09:40, just before your pathetic entry, so I didn't "scuttle off".

Of course I care about female safety because I am one. Do you care about female safety, or are you just throwing around juvenile, unfounded insults at Anarchy99 and me for fun?

I suggest that you stop now because you are embarrassing yourself.

So what you're doing is trying to deny an MP an analysis of the leadership challenge - very democratic of you. He's only saying what other parts of the electorate are thinking.

What is your problem? Are you denying that Starmer said 99% of women don’t have penises or that Burnham showed very public support to trans ‘wornen’ wanting to use women’s spaces, only to backtrack?

I didn’t ’scuttle off’ - I have a life. Their pandering comments and actions are available if you Google them.

How long do you give Andy Burnham before he resigns?
