AIBU to feel the media is pushing Starmer out?

To feel the media is forcing Starmer out and to be annoyed by this.

They need constant drama and content and this is done at the expense of the country. Starmer is boring but things are improving despite major problems like Iran in the background.

If this were 20 years ago he’d have been safe. They are treating government like football clubs and want Burnham as they think he’s more showbiz. These foreign owner media outlets don’t care about the stability of this country, they just want headlines and drama on X to drum up more drama for headlines and opinion pieces where the media all interview each other.

The country is becoming ungovernable because them and I’m sick of it.

The BBC doing to Burnham now what they did to Starmer.

A vox pop in which everyone on the street was a fan of Burnham 🤔

Reallyneedsaholiday · 22/06/2026 13:19

Starmers only real crime is that he doesn't have a lot of charisma. Some of his policies have been "well meaning" but haven't been thought through properly, before implementing them. But the media are absolutely to blame for highlighting ANY negatives and ignoring the positives. They pander to the right wing parties, who put money in their pockets, with a heavy bias. Its why no left wing government will ever survive. People read headlines, and blindly believe them, without questioning the facts.

alwaysdream · 22/06/2026 13:19

Ffs - they even have drones in the sky now filming the train Andy Burnham is coming down to London on 😆

It's a big solution to the problem. Parents would think of the ramifications of who they have kids with.

I never said those claiming benefits were feckless.

My post about my situation was to provide an example of claiming benefits not being about feckless behaviour. The word ‘feckless’ was used in this thread. That’s why I have used it.

I would have NEVER been able to predict what had happened to me. Neither would you. What you are doing right now is victim blaming. It says much more about you than it does me.

I waited until I had the most financial and emotional stability possible to have DC. i married a man whose outward persona was exceptionally well put together and I had no idea that he would become what he has become. I have worked really hard to maintain my income and be the best parent I could. I look after my health. I have a good pension. I have good income protection built into my job. But right now, the £108 per month child benefit (that all parents earning under 50,000 a year get), is very much needed and appreciated. I make zero apology for that. I fully support my taxes being used to support others who need it.

Taxing the wealthy remains the most sensible solution to our economic situation as a country in my eyes. And Starmer has been ousted by the press because they are owned by millionaires who don’t care what state the country is in because they are alright Jack. I hope his replacement can be a steady pair of hands at least.

Anyway I’m off down the shops to grab me fags and booze, before I head off to the pub tonight to shag random blokes without protection and get myself knocked up again so I can claim more benefits. I’ll let you know how it goes!

Absolutely nowhere near the most important issue facing the country.

Complete stupidity to judge a PM on this issue.

I don’t want to derail this thread any more than you do but the trans issue is massive because of what it says about the politician. Transwomen are men. Scientific fact. Any politician who says otherwise if gas lighting. And any politician who thinks trans women should have access to women’s single sex spaces hasn’t got the competence to think about it from the womens rights point of view. They just jumped upon a trendy idea and spouted it without the merest of thought. Is that a good thing in a PM? No of course not.

So if Burnham fails it won't be because he is not for for purpose it will be because of the media. If only Boris Johnson had been afforded the same benefit. They both made mistakes so rightly they were highlighted.

And, as I said, let's increase the taxes for the parents like your ex-husband who choose not to contribute to the family they created.

I stand firmly on this view rather than being emotional.

Sausagenbacon · 22/06/2026 13:25

The problem isn't the media, it's a load of fuckwit labour MPs who are too stupid to see that AB has no magic bullet.
And i'm not a KS supporter, in general.

Numbchill · 22/06/2026 13:27

Starmer was sunk because the backbenchers wouldn’t support him. Burnham is sunk because the backbenchers will support him and he has idiotic ideas.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 22/06/2026 13:27

Swiftie1878 · 22/06/2026 08:49

What a load of nonsense. The media is simply reporting what is happening.
The Labour Party’s two factions are eating each other alive.

The media are. It’s plural.

She’s right though. Labour need to stop using the media as an excuse.

Absolutely.

To imply he didn't know what a woman was is shambolic and weak. Pandering to ill-thought-out intentions to degrade women.

Plus his refusal to give straight answers to the Mandelson inquiry.

Because of the media.

Continuing to peddle this rubbish will guarantee Nigel Farage a win at the next GE.

It’s not Labour’s fault they keep promising the earth and going through with wildly unpopular policies, it’s ’the Media’s’

lovecotswoldsliving · 22/06/2026 13:41

I think his own party got him out. No one else.

alwaysdream · 22/06/2026 13:47

Currently Sky are discussing the merits and demerits of train travel to London and what platform exit AB will be coming out of (looks like he sneaked out via a side exit so that foiled them). Lots of references to "the King of the North is on his way to London" ..,. "The King of the North has arrived at Euston Station... will 'The King of the North he now get an Uber like normal people...?" So you can see how they are already framing a narrative. Helicopters are in the sky - looking for what? A Uber? A govt car it? What will it be?? The nation is riveted, I'm sure.

WilliamsandWatsonTooLateNSoul · 22/06/2026 13:49

Daily Mail and the comment section had a hard on for him weeks into his tenure shouting for a General election.

Running the country isn't a popularity contest and it's easy to say what you'd do when years away from power.
Badenoch maybe needs a reminder it was her party that cut police numbers and military personnel etc.
Those numbers need time and training to turn round .

Of course. God forbid Labour be held accountable for anything.

Oh STOP PRESS. It's a BLACK CAB people! As the Sky reporter says - "What else for the KING OF THE NORTH." No fancy govt car here - on TAXPAYERS' money.

What will the traffic be like? Will the air con work for The King of the North? Will he make it to Downing Street? How many times can Sky commentators get The King of the North into a sentence? Hold onto your seats Sky News viewers.

alwaysdream · 22/06/2026 13:56

I can hear the helicopters over my house. AB stuck in traffic. What a performance.

millymollymoomoo · 22/06/2026 08:53

don’t care. His complicity to rake scandal, two tier society and controls on speech and other means he must go, Burnham will be worse. And Labour are completely hypocritical because they ( and lefties media) forced Boris out for much less - eg saying conservatives lost x councils and no longer trusted do must go yet Labour lost 3 times as many yet stay ….. along with many other reasons,

worst party ever

Bless you. Right wing media brain washed.

Sounds like Russell Kane's social media posts of recent weeks.

"I'm Andy Burnham and I'd dead normal, me. I drink gravy, cos I'm normal. Nothing to see here, just me looking at the sky being a normal bloke."

Cut to black and white shot of deranged Andy Burnham hissing about power and unseating the PM. Very funny.
