What are your neighbours doing to annoy you this summer?

For the past two evenings, just as it's finally cooled down enough to open the windows, one neighbour has fired up a BBQ and another has lit a log fire.

I know people are entitled to enjoy their gardens, but the timing feels almost impressively irritating.

Anyway, rather than sitting here seething internally while my house slowly fills with eau de smoked sausage and bonfire, please tell me about your neighbours' most gloriously twattish habits.

The more petty and irrationally annoying, the better.

Help me feel less alone 😂

My neighbours sit in the garden talking. I mean, how bloody inconsiderate is that?

RocketPanda · 21/06/2026 19:45

Mooing. No respect for the neighbours at all, milky bastards.

flatbuyingdilemma · 21/06/2026 19:46

Last night 2 cars outside my window parked boot to boot and the inhabitants stood beside the cars and staged a rap battle 😫 I won’t ask you guess which area I live in, but yes it’s London!!

feathermucker · 21/06/2026 19:47

Mine walked past.

With a dog!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 21/06/2026 19:47

Same as always. Not stop their 4 year old daughter from screaming at anything and anything. It’s just in the garden more atm.

They moved in last summer and I thought it was just a phase.

If it is, it’s a very long one…….

user1471453601 · 21/06/2026 19:48

Absolutely nothing. Same as they do the rest of the year.

absolute bastards 😉

TigerRag · 21/06/2026 19:49

Same as ever - upstairs just lets his dog run around. He also thinks there's nothing wrong with DIY at 9/10pm. Next door just plays loud music

WhatWouldYouDo223 · 21/06/2026 19:53

Bitching in the garden about me parking outside her house on the odd occasion on an unrestricted road 🤣 and not anyone else that does it. She thought no one heard her.

She can’t drive.

Apparently she’s gonna buy an old motor and pop it in front of her house to stop it.

whatever floats your boat hun, spend that money 🤣 I could not give less of a fuck about entitled parking debates.

Rhymetyme · 21/06/2026 19:54

Last night it was music blasting out in the garden until midnight. Much shrieking in the hot tub. I hate them.

Freezingmince · 21/06/2026 19:55

Our garden is teeny tiny, same as nextdoor,we live in a terraced, their garden contains a trampoline,a pool, goalposts, a slide and various other shitty fucking plastic crap, there's no room for any of it and the kids scream and biff the ball against the fence because they can't actually play for all the shit.

Smoking weed and the smells wafting through my house

CaptBirdsEar · 21/06/2026 19:57

Using power tools all day on a Sunday. This after my other neighbour is having a new roof so the roofers are there banging away Monday to Sat - I’ve had no peace and quiet to sit outside.

PurplePatched · 21/06/2026 19:57

The same as the last ten summers - playing loud classical/operatic music from noon til night. These are small, back to back yards and everyone, apart from this one neighbour, shares the same sensibility not to play music outside so as not to disturb anyone else's enjoyment. So selfish. I can bear it for an hour, but have to then move back indoors as it's just too distracting to read a book or relax.

123teenagerfood · 21/06/2026 19:59

Mine comes outside just as we sit outside to eat and whistles whilst watering his plants. We eat at random times, so I think he does it on purpose.

Just take some really deep breaths. You’ll soon feel better.

One made an absolutely gorgeous cake (she bakes them every Summer) and the absolute witch wrecked my “healthy summer body” meal plan by dropping off several slices which I’ve devoured.

I have two neighbours. We take in each others parcels and no-one blocks anyone else’s drive. They don’t smoke weed or have dogs that bark all day. They both have young DC and I have never sat in my house fuming because the kids have been screaming in the garden or bouncing a ball continuously. We sometimes all go out for a meal together.

I know all of this makes me a complete outlier by MN standards😭

Cardiganwearer · 21/06/2026 20:04

Building an extension themselves with a ton of mates and talking very loudly all day. Then stopping at about 10 at night and lighting a barbecue. Then talking and carousing late into the night. At least the extension seems to be going up quickly…

The problem with loud classical music is that he probably expects you to be grateful for it as it’s ‘cultural’. If it was drum and bass everyone would agree it was antisocial.

Mine too 🤣

They sit close to the garden door so I can't help hear them from indoors if I have my garden door open and way they talk annoys me - they comment on banal things like "Grass is growing again" or "Might get a drink in a bit" sigh and snort and make oofff type noises a lot and say "oh my!" and worse "wow" but in a slowed down , non-wowed, placating type tone. Why do they do this?

They're my age (50s) before anyone assumes I'm being ageist. They're harmless and I am unreasonable, I know! They are annoying none the less. They have a preschool age grandchild who visits and chats a bit, and then their usual dialogue remains but gets louder and goes on longer. Their voices and non verbal noises carry!

You're so right! No ones going to complain about classical muzak, lest they reveal themselves as uncouth, ruffians!

I'd start sitting outside with an empty plate at odd hours just to see if he materialises.

My neighbours scream at their adorable dog every time he lets out a single woof in the garden. He is silenced angrily and immediately. It pisses me off so much, especially as they dont walk him enough.

chillpizza · 21/06/2026 20:12

Called the police because I’m in my gardens too much so must be watching them.

race baiting two tier shit.
