Out of interest, and I’m not a follower of any religion but why Jesus’ “fan base” and not the ‘fan base’ of any other religion?

I'm curious too even though I'm not a bit religious.

The Chris Brown fans who blame Rihanna for him beating her have got to be pretty high on the list.

OffredxJune · 21/06/2026 18:18

JK Rowling and Religion

AbsoluteHoot · 21/06/2026 18:19

It’s got to be the royals. Those fanatics who love them but hate Meghan and Harry are just out and out crazies.

RapunzelHadExtensions · 21/06/2026 18:19

Michael Jackson.

If his name was Dennis and he was a painter decorator down the road I'm pretty sure they'd all say he was a disgusting creature wanting little boys to sleep in his bed, regardless of the accusations. They are complete apologists are constantly trot out the 'Well if it really happened why did they take the pay out?' to which I say 'If it really didn't happen why did he give a pay out?'

I always wonder if they would have let their child stay over his house.

Johnogroats · 21/06/2026 18:20

Definitely Trump.

This too. I assume the RF must think we're all mad, sycophantic loons camping outside their labour ward and waving flags, which I can assure you, we are not 😂

ToTheCrystalDome · 21/06/2026 18:26

Scientology.

Am I allowed to say Jesus?

Or will I be booted into oblivion?

I would have thought it was more likely Muhammed.

hopspot · 21/06/2026 18:29

SideboobToYouToo · 21/06/2026 17:43

Oh absolutely this.

Completely agree.

I would go further and say all religions.

Well in terms of toxicity, thats not the case. Only the evangelical types of religions could be termed that way given that their whole premise is to get you converted and exclude or denigrate those who arent part of the club.

Other religions who are not evangelical simply get on with their rituals and habits, all the while obviously usually presenting their way as THE way but their 'fan base' so to speak isnt what would be called toxic.

I don’t know very much about Muhammad so I cannot comment on his fan base.

LilacDrift · 21/06/2026 18:33

JK Rowling

Islam is a hugely and highly proselytising religion, the fan base is toxic in that sense. Like evangelical religions who want converts.

Nah. No Muslim has ever tried to convert me. I've been stalked by evangelical Christians though.

Most toxic fanbase: Moses. Followed by Maria Callas.

JK Rowling

Can we have citations please?

Namechange9871 · 21/06/2026 18:43

Absolutely Michael Jackson.

PiriPiriMenopause · 21/06/2026 18:43

I think any “fan base” out there has its own toxicity issues. It’s people with extreme or obsessive opinions who are the problem with the world.

There are 39,000 people on the watchlist who are Islamic extremists as well

I think the nun’s in the Magdeline laundries were pretty toxic Jesus fans. A couple of elderly nuns in Scotland have recently been prosecuted for their abuse of children in their care back in the day. And what about the nutjobs outside abortion clinics. And priests with choirboys. Not proselytising doesn’t stop a Jesus fan being toxic.

But toxic? Nah! Just a bit… enthusiastic.
