Now Burnham has won, it will trigger a leadership contest, and if he wins, a new chancellor of the exchequer.

Surely this cannot be good for the country, or its finances?

YABU - Burnham is a true leader who will improve the UK for everyone and be a competent and respected leader.

YANBU - FFS, here we go again.

I see "progressiveness" as anything but. It now seems to have a narrow focus where just one view of any given subject is allowed. Deviate from it and you will be labelled racist, homophobic, or the phobic de jour. There is no nuance, no pragmatism and no commen sense.

That's because the term progressive has become associated with a stereotype of a left wing person, blue hair, draped in rainbows, luxury causes bla bla.
Progressive really just means wanting society to progress from the old traditional order to one that is fairer/more just/more utilitarian for greater numbers. Feminism is a perfect example of progressive politics.
Everyone who is left wing is progressive. Its kind of the point. If we didn't want to bring about change to the traditional order, the labour party would never have formed in the first place.

It doesn't mean that anymore. Progressivness.....anything but. Everyone who is left wing is progressive? Thats just not true, in the sense that you mean it.

The key demographic of Reform UK Party Ltd voters is uneducated males.

The uneducated males who are the back bone of the economy and bankroll the economy?

Why doesn't it mean that? I don't understand why people are claiming that terms like progressive and fascism have changed their meanings. When did that happen?

Hardly. Otherwise how are they claiming that they're left behind? Schroedinger's Reform voter?

Because people insist on misusing them.

Because people insist on misusing them.

Language changes its meaning entirely, concepts become something completely different because some people think other people misuse it? Sounds like it could lead to utter chaos.

Can you give an example of why you believe it's not true?

How is believing a person can change sex in progressive?
