Burnham has won. More turmoil?

Now Burnham has won, it will trigger a leadership contest, and if he wins, a new chancellor of the exchequer.

Surely this cannot be good for the country, or its finances?

YABU - Burnham is a true leader who will improve the UK for everyone and be a competent and respected leader.

YANBU - FFS, here we go again.

Yeah I refer you back to the post very early this morning. I think somewhere near 6am where someone made a blatantly obvious racist post about white male leaders. Yet nobody batted an eyelid about it. If they had mentioned “brown leaders”, however, there would have been uproar. It seems nowadays it’s absolutely ok for people to be racist against white people!

To be clear i did! Its the acceptable face of racism for the left. Talk about pakistani grooming gangs and you're a racist though

I don’t think you’re understanding what I’m saying. It is absolutely ok for me to despise Starmer. Just like it’s ok for people to despise Farage, Johnson, Truss, Blair and anyone else. I couldn’t give a shit who despises who. It’s the fact you seem to get butt hurt about it.
i have my opinion, you have yours. You love Starmer I get it. Personally I can’t see what he has done good for the country. And I still stand by my words that he has made us look like a fool on the world stage. You can’t see that. But it’s Friday night and I’m beyond the point of caring now. This argument has been going on all day.

But you had no evidence for how he is so laughed at on the world stage is the point!!
You just said it and kept on saying it but other than Trump (which doesn't count) and someone smirking or something you had nothing else

Now you're playing at being terribly reasonable but you were not earlier on in this thread which is why I called you out.

But it's boring now and I know you are going to constantly push for the last word so feel free to have it, I don't really care

And this is where we are at. Racism only seems to be a one way street nowadays.

If it’s “boring now” then why do you keep coming back and commenting on it? I haven’t seen you provide evidence that Starmer is doing such an amazing job on the world stage either. But I don’t keep the argument going. You however, have been like a dog with a bone. Just accept the man is extremely unpopular and there is vast amounts of “evidence” of that. You have literally come on a thread about Andy Burnham winning the Makerfield by election which was a setup to get Starmer out… because believe it or not.. Starmer IS unpopular and a lot of his own party want him out hence why someone stood down in Makerfield to give Burnham a good run at contesting Starmer. If you’re butt hurt about that then you’re well within your rights… but quit this silly argument now because like you said it really is getting boring. Even though I do find it slightly amusing that you are jumping to Starmer’s defence despite him being a sinking ship. If all you can find to defend him about is what he’s done on the world stage then I feel sorry for you. But I admire your adoration for him and how you’re so desperate to run to his defence. How cute ☺️

It's because of things like Instagram, everyone wants instant wins. There were 14 years of Tory austerity and yet for some reason people thought Labour could magically fix everything in six months and then were shocked when that didn't happen.

I'm genuinely embarrassed to be British.

Well done, 10 points for "14 years of Tory austerity" because everything was marvelous up to that point and beyond the 14th year. In reality, most things are now unfixable and all sides are as bad as each other, we're screwed.

Aye, Blair and Brown before the “14 years of Tory austerity” seem to have long been forgotten about. Illegal wars and pretend WMD. Then came the recession. I remember well.

Well I'm.sorry but the question was quite daft! What about before austerity? Different policies! What about before the second world war? Not the second world war. 🤷‍♀️

No it wasn’t. You are actually proving my point.. where do we draw the line and stop harking back to previous governments failings?

Global recession. That bit is important.

I don't think you understand my point which is that austerity was a standalone policy. No more, no less. No comment made on socio-economic conditions before or afterwards.

Okay then. So my point still stands.

Brown did not help matters one bit. I think people were glad to see the back of him if I’m honest.

Absolutely was an adult during that time. What makes you think I wasn’t?

The recession was the result of a global financial crash which began in the US. The “illegal” war was voted on by Parliament and was backed by both sides of the house.

Yes it was. Based on lies of WMD spewed by Blair.

What makes you think I wasn’t paying attention? I remember very well. It was global… brown didn’t help matter at all.
