This shambolic government - its utter chaos, the Tories were bad but Christ this lot are on another level.
Im really worried about where we’re heading, riots breaking out everywhere, the armed forces imploding, the police untrustworthy, we’re a laughing stock on the international stage.
Id say to call an early GE but I’m not a fan or reform either. At this point - I’d take the Tories back.
WTF is going on? I’m approaching 50 and I’ve never known the country in such a state.

AIBU to think we’re literally on the edge now? And what can actually be done to save it??

I am prone to anxiety so feel free to tell me on catastrophising

Or perhaps people are just impressed by Kemi? I’ve been impressed by her stance in opposition and she seems to grow stronger every day.

Huh? Celebrities are no more prescient than anyone else - how were they supposed to predict these issues more than the average voters?

And tbh if youre stupid enough to vote based on what your favourite soap star tells you then you deserve all you get!

I agree with the pp - not really sure how you can possibly think this lot are WORSE than the tories - partygate? Barnard castle? Jamie/Katie Wallis being given a restraining order? Literally everything about the liz truss government? Everyone on this rogues gallery https://news.sky.com/story/all-the-tory-mps-who-have-been-suspended-since-rishi-sunak-became-prime-minister-13117813 ?

(I didnt vote for Labour by the way but just come on!)

They are no longer in government or have you forgotten that? This lot were meant to come in and make things better and instead we are so much worse off. Of course there is a subsection of society who are now wiping their arse on five pound notes but the majority of us are slowly sinking.

I like her too. She finds a very good balance between the madness on the left and the fuckwittery on the right. If politicians could just talk some common sense we’d be halfway there.

Disturbing 😆 🤣 😂 let's not worry about an incompetent PM and his Chancellor but instead have a go at new posters. Do you expect this forum to just cater to your requirements and likes, to stay as your echo chamber? Big up Kemi for no reason? There's plenty of reason to 'big her up' although I think she's doing a good job of that herself.

Kemi is by far the most impressive leader. Starmer is a dead man walking and as for Burnham - the unions love him. Wonder why?? Unions only job is to get better pay and conditions for their members. Train drivers on £££, public sector pensions that most of us can only dream of.

Labour were voted in because they werent the Tories. They clearly had no plan whatsoever and are in the process of destroying our country.

YOU CAN NEVER TAX YOUR WAY TO GROWTH
PUTTING WELFARE IN FRONT OF DEFENCE.

They are clown like idiots

Hear hear. Unions will be rubbing their hands at Burnham capitulating to all their demands. I know somebody who works on the trains and he gets a 400 quid overnight allowance whether he uses the accommodation or not. I don't have time for unions because I see the destruction outweighing the benefits. Yes, individual public sector benefits. It's no wonder so many on here love Labour.

The issue is big state growing in resources, people relying on benefits and bingo. Labour get in again. Public sector's and people on benefits plus of course the many people we allow to settle in the UK will vote for the party that protects them.

TheotherMrsSmith · 12/06/2026 09:59

I agree OP. I’ve never known it to be this bad. The country is divided. This Government just seem deaf to public concern. I don’t want to turn this into an illegal immigration rant - sure I’ll be called out for being far right - but I live not too far from the Crowborough barracks. It’s frightening. They loiter in kids play parks, we have the Crowborough Shield where local residents are patrolling and you certainly don’t as a lone female now walk your dog alone in Ashdown Forest. The last thing this country needs is Burnham getting in. I don’t like Reform, but I like Kemi - she has a backbone. I just wish the Crown had power to intervene.

BruceGrobbelaar · 12/06/2026 10:05

A reminder that until quite recently this government was proposing to send £35 billion to Mauritius for no apparent reason whatsoever, one of its first acts was to lavish several billion on pay rises for its paymasters in the public sector and has recently spent several billion on incentivising welfare dependency by getting rid of the two child benefits cap.

I agree with the former Defence Secretary that this government is incapable of defending the country, with the former Health Secretary that it has no growth plan whatsoever and with the current Secretary of State for Work and Pensions that it’s principal motivation is to tax the productive in order to give benefits to the feckless and idle.

the armed forces imploding, the police untrustworthy, we’re a laughing stock on the international stage.(in the Thread op)

I do think posters aren't remembering carefully. This was all very bad during the Boris Johnson government. Take Defence, the current issue - remember Ben Wallace arranging for 100 animals to be airlifted from Afghanistan, but people left behind?

Wallace was hoaxed on Teams by the Russians, who had recently invaded Ukraine, and announced the British Army would be reduced by tens of thousands the same day?

It’s so bad now John Healey and Al Carns, both highly regarded, are now gone.

Yes, regrettable. Great appointment - Dan Jarvis, who has served in many countries in the Army including Afghanistan.

Carns has his eye on the inevitable leadership contest which he couldn’t fight from within government. Same as Streeting.

Hate to bring US politics into it, but I hear similar get said re. the democrats in the states. They actively pander to minorities as they know they are life long Democrat voters. It’s troublesome.

Because they have integrity. Most of us would resign a position that we agreed to take on thinking we’d be able to make a difference, directly we found out we had no chance of getting the job done because all the money was being siphoned elsewhere.

I thought he'd gone. I wonder why he wasn't given the defence brief in the first place? Not that Healy hasn't shown himself to be principled and dedicated, but I thought Jarvis was the more experienced.

Yep some integrity there. Everyone has said that of Healey.
Carns was liked by Labour acolytes until a day ago.

Tf Starmer will be gone soon.

It was because they were so committed to reversing what they called "the hollowing out" of the Armed Forces by the Tories.

And the chaos is far from over.

Liz Truss! 🤣

He was allowed to carry on with being a mayor for S Yorkshire initially. Yes, Dan Jarvis has great credentials.

Liz Truss! 🤣

Who thankfully was PM for 49 days. Are you convinced hanging onto RR, KS and DL for the next three years isn’t tantamount to suicide for the country’s finances? I’m worried.
