Rainbow colours everywhere

Rainbows everywhere. Hi. I walked into the office building yesterday and rainbow stuff everywhere. Nearby nursery has all rainbow colours on fencing and there was an ambulance with rainbow colours. A bit ridiculous?

You’re being wilfully ignorant here, rainbows as decoration in a nursery and the pride flag are not the same things and you know it. They absolutely do not need to be wafting the pride flag in a sodding nursery.

I think the poster is under the impression she is being amusing

So completely passed me by, guessing there were no flags or specially labelled products in the shops

Well, now you know when it is you could raise awareness yourself next time round?
What kind of flag are you envisaging? Maybe design one.

It doesn't have quite the same ring, does it?

I'm not even sure what that would look like.

And would we be allowed to design our own flag instead of the beige monstrousity that we have been alloted? 😁

Plus you know if you let straight men anywhere near organising a straight pride festival it is going to be sexualised to the max and give Pride a run for it's money. Does anyone want a festival of straight male kink?

I know of an old, orange faced man who would probably love to do this.

Straight people haven't historically gone to prision for falling in love with someone of the opposite sex. They havn't been forced by threat of prison to find secretive ways to meet each other and invent code languages to talk to each other. Straight people today don't have to think carefully about holding hands in public in case it draws the wrong attention. Straight men don't suffer insinuations that they are a paedophile for simply wanting to become a father. Straight women aren't told they are only pretending to be attracted to men to turn other men on.

And none of that happens now. Move on

There's Mad Pride, which is just like gay Pride in that mentally ill people are horrifically stigmatised and this is a grass roots response to say we are different but great: https://www.onedoor.org.au/news-updates/blog/dr-richard-schweizer-blog-october-2022

Why not have an Equality Act Pride day, you know celebrate all the protected characteristics together. Join as one, be happy for everyone and have a big diverse party. Gay alphabetic Pride has had far too much party cake by now, time to slice it up fairly.

Are you kidding? Please just see some of the threads on her about gay men seeking surrogates, or whether gay men should be allowed to adopt. Have you forgotten the two girls in London who were beaten up on the bus? That happens more than is reported on the news. Have you seen the social media content where young men say they'll disown their son if they're gay? That's happening now.

😭 Yeah, thinking about it, Straight Pride would be a testosterone fuelled nightmare, wouldn't it 😁
Do people on here really want to be walking hand in hand with their DH/DP under a flag, declaring their Pride in being straight?
I don't.
Others not in a relationship would probably be chanting some kind of song and drinking.

Are you actually serious?! Of course people still get attacked for being gay!

They don't get murdered for being attracted to the opposite sex though, way to spectacularly miss the point.

All murders are wrong. No one has a hierarchy of suffering.

Yes they do, but no-one on the thread is saying they don't.

Happy bright accepting people. How wonderful. Better than all the doom and gloom crap on here as is normal about LGBTQ people.

You are right. There was a thread the other day that the OP refused to do an online order from a supermarket just because it had a flag on the stores app and loads of people agreed and said they would order from somewhere else instead.

Yes they are and no there isn't. But again, the point is that pp was alleging violence against LGBTQ people is a thing of the past.

OP do you also seethe when there are poppies and kneeling sad boo-hoo soldier silhouettes slapped up everywhere in November ?

If we divided the straight male and straight female Pride that would be better. I'm not touching straight male Pride with a bargepole, but straight female Pride could be really fun!

Float one: spicy fantasy novel inspired, buff fairy kings, werewolves and vampires
Float two: just the guy who plays Rupert Cambell-Black in Riders
Float three: dad bods, a whole group of gorgeous chunky guys you'd want to shag but also get the big shop with

😂

A Pride march/party will not solve violence against LGBT. Same as a conference on domestic violence won't solve that either. The perpetrator will do it anyway.

BlueSlate · Yesterday 15:55

None of my lesbian friends celebrate pride anymore and all but one have rejected the rainbow.

Their view is mainly that it's been hijacked by the trans movement and they now see it as an aggressive sign of hostility and male dominance.

They generally also feel that attitudes towards the LGB community have worsened due to the inclusion of T.

They don't welcome it at all and no longer see it as a sign of inclusion more a sign that they are not welcome.

I'm not LG or B and have no skin in the game but their feelings on the matter are quite strong.

Showing support for communities who have historically suffered from discrimination is no bad things. It was only 60 years ago we were imprisoning gay people.

Rainbows aren’t just a symbol of Pride, it is also significant in Christianity, plus kids love a bright colour.

Does Pride month significantly cause discrimination against heterosexual people… I would argue not.

When complaining about it in Schools or Nursery's, remind yourself that those Children and Young people might have Gay Parents, Grandparents, Sisters, Brothers etc. At high school, how good is it that we put up Rainbows rather than put up with Homophobic bullying.

Other people getting recognition, only bothers those who have had a lifetime of not feeling discriminated against.
