Rainbow colours everywhere

Rainbows everywhere. Hi. I walked into the office building yesterday and rainbow stuff everywhere. Nearby nursery has all rainbow colours on fencing and there was an ambulance with rainbow colours. A bit ridiculous?

Well said. LGB was great. Shame they had to add the other letters.

I bet there's others that would say exactly the same about the B on there too.
Or is it only ok if it's a letter you don't like or agree with being on there?
It's not likely to stop at the T. You're naive if you think it will.

Will you feel the same when England progress in the World Cup and the flags are everywhere? Did you feel the same for the jubilee? Or in November when you can’t move for poppies? Or at Christmas when there are lights and decorations? Or is it just Pride you think it’s too much for?

Be quietly gay. Why do we need Pride anyway? All these rainbows being rammed down our throats.
<disclaimer> not my view

Probably, but the B don't think that men should be in women's spaces or compete against women in sport, so I'm happy with the Bs.

Marieb19 · Yesterday 15:17

I can't understand why one unremarkable group in society has to be celebrated in this way, especially as many gay people find themselves at odds with what Stonewall and Pride now represent. Celebrating pride week and trans visibility month is almost mandatory in some sectors. Are disabled people, carers, volunteers etc not deserving of a fraction of the platform and forced visibility this political movement has hijacked.

Bigboldfont · Yesterday 15:18

I have to do pride for work. I have rebelled by using the old pride flag, for LGB rights and refuse to "upgrade" to the progress pride flag.
I see the TQ+ as directly contradictory to the LGB rights.

Come you understand well enough.
You have quoted those calling others bigoted yet claim not to be bigoted by saying that you engage but that those that don't agree shouldn't engage with you.
That is bigotry.

Ah I think you've misunderstood and that's ok.

I am saying if people don't like Pride they don't have to go, and that rainbows in themselves are not offensive.

I compared this is Christmas for myself as a non- Christian. I don't go to church, but I am not offended by Christian images of the birth of Jesus.

Both rainbow flags and the birth of Jesus may have deep meanings attached to them, and people may not agree with what they represent, but are not offensive to anyone in themselves. If anyone choose to go to Pride or to Church and hears or sees something they don't like, the onus is not on Pride or the Church to change what they're doing, it's on me to choose not to go there.

You have conflated this idea of not engaging with things I don't like, to mean I won't enage in debate I don't like. My continued discussion on this demonstrates that's not the case though.

What, all the Bs? Sounds unlikely. Seeing as they're not one great big mass and are presumably individuals.

Gofaster2023 · Yesterday 15:21

My dpd tracker had me living with a rainbow flag and a unicorn was delivering my parcel. It was awesome!

sontamol · Yesterday 15:23

Why is there no Straight Pride month. Equality for all.

ForSnappySwan · Yesterday 15:24

Something like 8 Pride organisers have been jailed for paedophilia in the last year alone.

I'm amazed that's not a bigger story.

Edited

I apologise for my error.

And its through discussion/debate that an understanding has been reached.

Here you go - Disability Awareness Month.
So no need to worry, there's one for disabilities awareness too. https://www.healthassured.org/blog/disability-history-month/

Carers Week starts on Monday! https://www.carersuk.org/press-releases/carers-week-2026-launches-theme-building-carer-friendly-communities/
Just in time for you to show your support.

Disability History Month 2026 - What you need to know

Attitudes towards people with a disability have been largely seen as unemployable. In modern times we know this is unfair, but extremely discriminatory.

Oh good.
Another thread for faux naivety saying the holy month of pride is just about being happy colours and celebrating wearing bondage gear leather accessories and men dressed as female porn stars diversity.

holy month of pride

Is that you, Mr Fox?

I am watching Victoria at the moment. You are awful as Palmerston.

Straight people haven't historically gone to prision for falling in love with someone of the opposite sex. They havn't been forced by threat of prison to find secretive ways to meet each other and invent code languages to talk to each other. Straight people today don't have to think carefully about holding hands in public in case it draws the wrong attention. Straight men don't suffer insinuations that they are a paedophile for simply wanting to become a father. Straight women aren't told they are only pretending to be attracted to men to turn other men on.

Would be nice to have a disability awareness or carers month, with a special flag flown in supermarkets and town halls etc. Not going to happen though is it, just the Holy Month of Pride which is not as inclusive as it likes to make out....

I'm not even sure what that would look like.

And would we be allowed to design our own flag instead of the beige monstrousity that we have been alloted? 😁

There is a Disability Awareness Month. I posted it upthread.

This is so funny.

Why on earth would children like a rainbow? Outrageous! It’s WELL KNOWN that children HATE rainbows! Stop THRUSTING RAINBOWS DOWN CHILDREN'S NECKS. Colours are disgusting to children!

You’re being wilfully ignorant here, rainbows as decoration in a nursery and the pride flag are not the same things and you know it. They absolutely do not need to be wafting the pride flag in a sodding nursery.

So completely passed me by, guessing there were no flags or specially labelled products in the shops

That is the most bland flag ever 😁
Gimme a rainbow any day🌈🌈🌈

scalt · Yesterday 15:32

Some of us associate rainbows with 2020, symbolising children trapped in their homes, unable to play outside or see their friends, and being labelled “vectors of transmission”.

Only partly joking there.

In my work disability week, specific condition awareness days, carers week and all kinds of different times are acknowledged.

I love Pride, and I love the idea of having a big party and parade to celebrate these other things! One thing doesn't have to cancel out the others, let's have a year filled with celebrations! Especially young carers, how wonderful it would be to have a festival celebrating them ❤️
