Rainbow colours everywhere

Rainbows everywhere. Hi. I walked into the office building yesterday and rainbow stuff everywhere. Nearby nursery has all rainbow colours on fencing and there was an ambulance with rainbow colours. A bit ridiculous?

Purple end for me.

This could be an interesting survey 🤔

Utterly OTT. I’m with you OP. And why they need to be in a nursery is beyond me.

In case the child is being brought up by bigots - it’s good for them to see another perspective.

HisNotHes · Yesterday 14:39

What’s your problem?

I’m not LGBTetc, I have no friends or family who are but I have no issue with the pride flags.

Gladystheimpaler · Yesterday 14:41

Some kids have two mums, some kids have two dads. I have had to correct DC regularly when they come home from school saying 'kids at school say only boys can marry girls'. Pride means kids don't have to feel scared telling their parents they've fallen in love. Pride means a loving pair of grown ups do not have to write off being a parent because of who they love. The earlier kids know that, the better as far as I'm concerned.

Not wanting to have others ramming their views in your face does not make you a bigot
Lazy thinking but you've found your tribe here.

Is it just me or does anyone else always sort packets of crayons or felt tip pens into rainbow colour order?

Oh yes absolutely, it’s compulsory

No one is ramming anything. Rainbows aren't offensive, and if you don't like Pride don't go. I don't like vintage car shows, so I don't go. But I don't consider the posters for it as 'ramming vintage cars in my face'

In the words of our queen Dua Lipa "If you don't wanna see me dancing with somebody, if you want to believe that anything could stop me... Don't show up"

Ah yes, #nodebate, how very tolerant of you.

If your point of view is worth anything at all then it should be worth defending.

The women in FWR know better.

Perhaps the OP could move the thread over there then.

MagpiePi · Yesterday 14:54

Oh good.
Another thread for faux naivety saying the holy month of pride is just about being happy colours and celebrating wearing bondage gear leather accessories and men dressed as female porn stars diversity.

Owly11 · Yesterday 14:55

So funny how it's people who aren't actually part of the so called lgbtqi*+ community that want to celebrate it so much. There's not much to celebrate within it right now.

Sorry I don't understand. Am I not debating with you right now? I'm giving my view, am I not? And my view is the world is full of things I don't personally like, so I don't seek them out. We can all choose how much to engage with things. I am not a Christian and don't go to church, but I find carol services magical and have no problem with seeing Christian imagery around Jesus in the manger in the barn. I can choose the level to which I engage.

The OP never actually mentioned the word "pride".
(this of course is actually a stupid thread where the OP makes one post to stir up trouble then buggers off to watch us all fight.... I'm only playing because I'm bored)

I have no issue with the original pride flag, I do have issues with the new one.
I also don't like how pride has been hijacked by various communities trying to pus all of the different communites into one whilst excluding various members of said communities.

Lets not forget the various pride marches that have excluded lesbians for daring to say that they won't sleep with men (that identify as women).

Fizzybluewater · Yesterday 15:00

I support Pride as I have two gay adult kids, but they aren't keen of the 'over kill' and say it's just virtue signalling with most people and it will be forgotten in a few weeks.
They want to live their lives quietly and to be accepted for being decent and respectful humans not because of what they may or may not do in their private lives.
I'm inclined to agree with them.

ChamonixMountainBum · Yesterday 15:02

I see this year there seems to be more of the old school rainbow flags rather then the seizure inducing pride flags which is nice to see.

Dancingsquirrels · Yesterday 15:02

If only people were so keen to champion vulnerable people with poor health, learning disabilities etc

i'm fed up of hearing that TW are the most oppressed, disadvantaged section of society

FWIW, my take is that companies and local authorities etc are keen to champion the underdog when it costs nothing eg pronouns

But now that it's starting to cost money eg lawsuits about toilets, the tide is turning

Good for you. Many others increasingly see the pride flag as a regressive, misogynistic, homophobic (men can be lesbians), intolerant ideology that at its worse has seen untold damage to children and vulnerable adults and pushed back womens rights.

Virtue signalling shite as usual.

Come you understand well enough.
You have quoted those calling others bigoted yet claim not to be bigoted by saying that you engage but that those that don't agree shouldn't engage with you.
That is bigotry.

IAmBeaIDrinkTea · Yesterday 15:11

I've voted YABU as I love rainbows.
If I see one in the sky, it genuinely makes my day.
As for seeing them around as flags or posters or whatever, good - bright and cheery.

I absolutely loved Pride month when I first came out about 30 years ago, but back then it was about LGB & the right to be same sex attracted.

Now, it’s about the TQ+ & is the exact opposite.

I’m staying well away & I think a lot of these posts are either bloody disingenuous or don’t know what’s going on.

Well said. LGB was great. Shame they had to add the other letters.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · Yesterday 15:13

I love a rainbow 🌈
