Rainbows everywhere. Hi. I walked into the office building yesterday and rainbow stuff everywhere. Nearby nursery has all rainbow colours on fencing and there was an ambulance with rainbow colours. A bit ridiculous?

I stand with the OP. I cut the heads off flowers too. No colours around if I can help it.

It's also why I only watch the start of Pleasantville movie and switch it off before the bits of colour come in

I mean to be fair, looking at general trends in decor, car colours and fashion, you're not alone there.🙄

Ban the beige!

Get in the bin grey!

This is so funny.

Why on earth would children like a rainbow? Outrageous! It’s WELL KNOWN that children HATE rainbows! Stop THRUSTING RAINBOWS DOWN CHILDREN'S NECKS. Colours are disgusting to children!

😂😂😂

TonTonMacoute · Yesterday 14:16

Well you would expect to see rainbows during Pride month.

My impression is that quite a few LGB people are getting fed up with Pride month and are complaining that it's been hijacked by fetishists who just want to get their bits out, but that I don't how widespread that view is.

Utterly OTT. I’m with you OP. And why they need to be in a nursery is beyond me.

Seconded. Why we have adopted this silly ostentatious signalling of our allegiances is beyond me. It's the same as the NHS lanyards, which thankfully the Government looks like it's bringing an end to.
We don't need others' views rammed down our throats as we go about our business.
It's just an opportinity to virtue signal and draw attention to yourself. It's also diversive but i suspect that is why some do it anyway

Needmorelego · Yesterday 14:19

@TheignT when you sort out crayons /felt tip pens do you put the pink ones at the red end or the purple end?
I'm never sure what is the acceptable method.

I’m now singing the theme tune to Rainbow in my head, which will be my earworm for the day! 80s kid here 🌈🌈🌈

I absolutely loved Pride month when I first came out about 30 years ago, but back then it was about LGB & the right to be same sex attracted.

Now, it’s about the TQ+ & is the exact opposite.

I’m staying well away & I think a lot of these posts are either bloody disingenuous or don’t know what’s going on.

What else do you hate? Sunshine? Song? The sound of children’s laughter????
what a think to get triggered about.

I guess it would be nice for the kids to know that all kinds of family are accepted and welcome, including those with same sex parents.

My daughter is gay and she feels the same.
Still it's a chance fir MNetters to parade how very clever and accepting they are.
They're having a ball on this thread.

Nurseries have always had Rainbows. I refer you to Noah's Ark.

Children like colour.

Wre · Yesterday 14:24

I love all of the colours and hadn’t associated it with pride I am a bit dim

Needmorelego · Yesterday 14:25

The OP (who hasn't come back) never actually said they didn't like rainbows because it's to do with Pride....
Maybe they're just sad they never found a pot of gold.

quietblossom · Yesterday 14:25

The same week a reform MP said I quote ‘IVF is not healthcare but a lifestyle choice’ and ‘poor people shouldn’t have children’

FFS let’s have 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈

Alottatopspin · Yesterday 14:25

Our children’s nursery had rainbow colours up all year round, the bastards! How fucking dare they. Children should absolutely be reared surrounded by the dullest shades possible- it’ll help them adjust to adulthood.

Because some of those children will have two mammies or two daddies and it's nice to acknowledge that their parents' love, or marriage, is legitimate. The children will grow up facing bigotry about the make-up of their family that children of straight couples simply won't, so they need a visible, tangible reminder that their family is safe and welcomed at their nursery in a way that children of straight parents do not. I would bet that in the old days the rainbows had seven stripes and children knew how many colours made up a rainbow.

I've come across children now who think rainbows have 6 stripes of colour.

Surely it depends if you say Indigo and Violet separately or just Purple.
Both are fairly normal.
