Does anybody else dislike Pride?

We have one in our town for the second year running, and it's just really off.

Now before I get the "don't be homophobic comments" I am very much live and let live.

It's just that it can be very adult in the middle of the day.

Why do the War Dead only get a day in November in commemoration? Wasn't their sacrifice the ultimate one? Gay Pride gets a week. I'll never work that one out...

Where I live Pride gets a whole month.

That is ONE person.

In the same way not all Americans are spray tanned, orange, raping, megalomaniacs.

And the same way not all working class people support Reform.

Maybe that is the issue? If working class Reform voters automatically assume everyone on their social and economic level votes Reform, that is why they think every trans person is a bearded, penis toting woman.

Not all males who identify as lesbians have a beard. Not all males who identify as women identify as lesbians.

But some due and it's not hysteria or hyperbolic to say so.

Have you heard of the overcoming cotton ceiling workshops run by Morgan Page? This is where men who identify as lesbians were taught how to break down the sexual boundaries of lesbians.

Black history month. Women's history month. Gypsy / Roma month. Disability Pride month. South Asian Heritage month.

Same here, it just goes on and on.

Although I have noticed less virtue signally from companies this year, definitely less flags being displayed in shops and I’ve not noticed any drag queens in the library…yet

This is all the hyperbole we used to get with homosexuality. And with women's rights. And with Civil Rights.

It's frothing at the mouth, demonising (coulditbeme2323 - 'It is becoming demonic!') and othering people you're not comfortable with. It's a recognised sociological pattern of trying to stop social change.

Do you not understand what “hyperbolic” means, or are you just not paying attention?

Where's the hyperbole?

The overcoming the cotton ceiling workshops exist. Men kicking lesbians out of pride happens.

MY GOD that is such an old and pathetic trope. Gay people as paedophiles.

When in actuality, the paedophiles are primarily heterosexual men.

You missed the post where I said I’m not straight, didn’t you. You probably also missed the post where someone else said that Pride has done a great job of creating the image of the LGB community, for whom the parades were initially created, as a load of porn-addled fetishistic perverts. Exactly the image we’d tried to shrug off for decades and had pretty much succeeded with. Until the TQIA+ brigade tagged themselves in with the Progress Pride flag. Did you also miss the post about all of the Pride organisers and their convictions for sex crimes?

It’s ok, though - I’m just a raging homophobe with no idea what I’m talking about :-)

I did post earlier - however I don’t think this has to be political or about Reform - I’m centre left, I don’t care what peoples sexuality is nor do I think they should be victimised or prejudice against - however personally I think there are more urgent priorities to spend money on and many gays/lesbians agree too and think the original ethos has been lost- nor do they feel the need to be out there in a performative way often surrounded with a load of really weird stuff not suitable for kids. On the other angle though the thing with Reform getting rid of anything they perceive as DEI or Woke is just showing up their lack of inclusivity , what next, blokes don’t get fired for a bit of old school sexual harassment ( just banter) or asking women about their sexual orientation in interviews etc and getting away with it? Because you only have to be on x to see the amount of real mysoginy and arrogance of many men ( of all ages) that’s out there at the moment .

Most people disagree with you.

You're homophobic. I assume you're also anti trans and vote Reform.

It's just the same old bigot playbook. Nothing new.

Most people who have voted on this thread, agree with the OP

Gay men showing off, again. Tiresome.
Aren't we past caring who people love/have sex with? Why do gays feel the need to advertise/celebrate a sexual orientation?

Yes it is very tedious, if you want rainbow Ritchie Blackmore is the only man worth seeing.

No, it hasn’t been debunked. The men’s and women’s rates come from the prison population.

Try again. And maybe have a little think about why your little bubble lied to you about this “debunking”, and why you swallowed it.

My 'bubble' didn't do anything, I researched it myself. Did you?

LuckyHazelFox · 05/06/2026 14:38

You can buy bisexual and homophobic... Doesn't exclude you... smh

I disagree. Not sure why you’re shaking your head, actually. You can’t be ‘phobic’ about same sex attraction if you’re same sex attracted. If you were genuinely phobic, rather than understanding or sharing that attraction, you’d feel innately disgusted. Sounds like you’re conflating what might be more accurately described as shame or denial of one’s own sexuality with a phobic hatred of lesbians, gays and bisexuals.

It's under your topic headline.

I think most agree with you because they understand that perhaps it's not Pride you dislike.
If it's now a parade of half dressed, furries and bondage it's more what the event has become rather than Pride itself.

MY GOD that is such an old and pathetic trope. Gay people as paedophiles.

When in actuality, the paedophiles are primarily heterosexual men.

There’s something going on with Pride officers though, right? What do you think that is?

The number of Pride officers arrested for child sex offences seems to far outstrip the rate in the general population.

My guess is that it’s about an environment where transgression is a virtue and criticism is taboo.

Like with the church before it. Insulate a group from criticism and you attract bad actors.

WhatNoRaisins · 05/06/2026 15:25

For me it's the fetish stuff. I like to have clear boundaries about what is an adult event or what is adult content and what is suitable for children so I can make an informed choice. It's not homophobia, I wouldn't want heterosexual fetish content at an unsuitable time or place either.

Maybe just look away from the flasher in the park too?

flashing is illegal, being gay isn’t. i hope that helps you see how those things are different.

AlternateLook · 05/06/2026 15:33

Well firstly they identify as a woman and secondly they then declare that they are attracted to women = lesbian.

Of course they can also go for bonus points and identify as a person of colour.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 05/06/2026 15:43

And then they identify as ‘the most marginalised’ when actual, female lesbians won’t let them insert their ‘lady dick’, don’t they, @1dayatatime.
