Just looked next to me and the passenger as slipped her shoes off and is resting her feet on the seat. She seemed surprised that I asked her to move them. It is disgusting isn’t it ?

God people are grim.
A woman once sat several seats down from me in the cinema, took her shoes off and put her feet on the back of the chair in front. He feet absolutely stank!
I hate disgusting people with no manners or ideas about basic etiquette. There is just no consideration for others or respect for other people or property these days.

BeautySimplified · 27/05/2026 17:34

Some people are just foul. I was aways taught it was bad manners to put your feet up on any public transport or in seated public areas. We travel a lot and it’s gross the amount of people you see walking barefoot on planes or worse into the toilets. My friend had one person behind her push their feet through the space between the seats then got annoyed because she told them to remove their minging feet. Some people shouldn’t be allowed out in public.

MissMoneyFairy · 27/05/2026 17:39

I hope she gets a verruca

Monty36 · 27/05/2026 17:41

Yes, it is. Other people have got to sit on the seat. I have problems with people who sit on park benches with shoes on and sit on the back of the bench with their feet on the seat. Not to mention toddlers who are put into a trolley with shoes on.

garlicandsapphires · 27/05/2026 17:42

I don’t think it’s that grim actually. Shoes yes, but bare feet won’t be dirty exactly? I never see people walking around barefoot, let alone walking into toilets!!

garlicandsapphires · 27/05/2026 17:43

I am lying in a hammock right now, with my bare feet out. Am I disgusting? Should I have socks on?

Putting your feet up, shoes or not, is disrespectful, you're not at home.

In your home or on public transport

Agree. My feet get washed daily. Shoes, less often.

tiramisugelato · 27/05/2026 17:45

I really can't get worked up about this. Unless you're going to lick the seats, what's unhygienic about it?

ThesebeautifulthingsthatIvegot · 27/05/2026 17:47

??? Genuinely surprised to hear these reactions. Feet where someone's arse might be?! Hardly a concern in my eyes.

Neither. My local park.

I don’t think it’s the same thing as a busy commuter train, they were fairly crusty and sweaty to be honest and I didn’t really want to sit next to them or even worse sit when they had recently been if I had to move seats.

What do you think is going to happen if you sit on a seat where someone recently put their feet? Confused

Do you think the insides of your shoes are clean?

They aren’t….

Well as they had crusty toes I might get some flakes on me.

So? It's not like train seats are even remotely clean to begin with.

Oldraver · 27/05/2026 18:18

Any feet on seats is grim. If I go to the back of the bus there will be some one with feet on the opposite seat. Every train journey I see feet on seats

I just don't get it

magicstar1 · 27/05/2026 18:18

Not unreasonable at all.
I was sitting in A&E with my mother a few months ago and the guy sitting behind us put his feet up half on my chair and half on my shoulder. I turned and said “Get your feet down!” He got quite annoyed 🙄

It’s also illegal to mannered as well, but I suppose you have a counter argument to that as well.
I guess we all have different standards of how to conduct ourselves in public 😂

I haven't said I do it, just that I can't get worked up about it.

You think? There's some right bogging people out there whose feet aren't clean at the beginning of the day never mind the end of it

This has just given me a flashback to an old video that went viral of a guy who set up a hammock on the bus and screamed "Where's the "No Hammock" sign" when he was asked to take it down and then he did a deathroll in the hammock - he really reminded me of the Caterpillar in Alice In Wonderland.
That's me giggling like a loon right now.

I have. Near the beach especially.
But it’s not how clean their feet are. It is the lack of pride in something used by others. Yeah, stick yer feet up on it. Who cares.
Higher standards please. Not lower ones.

Flamingojune · 28/05/2026 09:31

Are socks ok?
